Building a culture of winning is way more important than drafting #1. just build winners and competitors and fug the draft.

what is this feeling I have? Its wierd, its not supposed to happen. Its like sadness...but like...the opposite. like I feel like something good is happening. Is this what other teams fans feel every week? -

god, I do really like hubbard, hes such a consistent player. Rhule sucked at everything, but that pick has been really good. -

and thats been the thing thats been driving me crazy. the line is more than fine, its actually good. The weapons arent world beaters, but they arent historically awful like they were last year. this should be a middle of the pack kind of offense and the QB was so bad we couldnt even get there. -
Not worth it, he's still our best receiver, let him cook with Dalton, if he balls out and we cant afford him, then we get comp picks in the draft, if not who cares. The idea of trading him to a contender only works if the compensation would be more than what we would get in a compensatory pick, and since we presumably wont be goin nuts in free agency, Im going to guess probably wont be.

Heres some good in the ocean of awful....

I still like Chuba, dude has been a good player for us while everything else has been trash around him. Hopefully with Dalton and no need to force more Bryce pass attempts, we get Chuba running more. -
Potential Trade Package for Bryce Young
Carolina Cajun replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly, I'd say no. fuger hasnt shown the fire to try to get better since he got here and I'll be damned if we give him his get out of jail free card like what happened with Baker or Darnold. Id be furious if he ends up on another team and ends up looking decent to good because that would show that just like Baker in particular, he finally decided to try again. As such, keep his shitty ass on the bench, either he improves and shows hes not the trashiest qb on earth for us at some point, or we keep him there so that his career dies on the vine and he goes down as the biggest bust in NFL history. No jumping ship or change of scenery to "regain confidence", either figure your poo out here, or lose your career, the end. Also compensation would be trash, so not even worth it. -
In fairness, I think theres an identity that they want, but they had a mentally broken kid that could not execute. There is zero dawg in Bryce. I remember hearing about cam newton fighting with a teammate in YEAR 1 about them losing a game and in the locker room another player told him "hey, its ok, you cant win them all". THAT is dawg. Dalton might not go to that extreme, but he will command respect and demand execution in which I have zero belief that Young commanded.

If you told me that our starting QB in 2024 was drafted in 2011, I NEVER in a billion years would have thought it wasn't cam newton....yet here we are.

Imagine if there were a way for him to evaluate bryce...maybe in a less intense setting without it actually affecting the season. Maybe these less intense situational performances could happen before the season, like maybe we could call it a preseason...and then you could play him and see if he starts clicking or if theres a better option...nah...that sounds crazy

Every single thing about him reminds me of Jimmy Clausen. I remember after jimmy won his first game as a panther he gave John Skelton "advice" to improve his game, like he was any good whatsoever. I get the vibe from him that Bryce thinks he's fine, nothing about his preparation going into the season made me think he learned from mistakes. He's getting a steady stream of rainbows and sunshine pumped right up his ass so he has an overly inflated self worth. hopefully he improves with this wakeup call, but I dont think theres enough competitor in him, hes just a sulky spoiled kid who hasnt had to earn his place on a team since he was 12.

To get Bryce young, we traded DJ moore, CMC (for the draft capital), The 8th pick in 2023, first overall in 2024, and what will be the first pick of the second round (basically a first round pick). Bryce is not only going to be the worst first overall pick in NFL history, but this will easily go down as the single worst trade in NFL history and I cant see a situation someone does something this stupid ever again.
-
Id say "just keep rolling with bryce"...but sadly he sucks so bad we cant evaluate Canales as a coach. Last year it seemed everything else sucked so bad that we couldnt even evaluate bryce, now he sucks so bad that we cant accurately evaluate anyone else.

Dave Canales announces next week's starting QB
Carolina Cajun replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
He misspoke, he's not gonna take another step this week, he doesn't step anywhere, definitely not in the pocket. He might make a hop, but that's about it. -
if today is any indication, wont be here after like week 12. In fairness, its also what Tepper does, midseason fires are his jam man.

Only way to measure success this season...

I can be ok with Game manager as long theres glimpses of what he could be. If he is supposed to be a distributor and a cerebral QB, that can come along as the player learns new aspects of the Game IE what Drew Brees and Tom Brady did. Both were pretty much game managers on their rookie deals but showed signs of growth and flashes of greatness, it wasnt till the second contract where the brilliance showed up. Now if he's a Teddy Bridgewater level game manager and he's actively lost us games with bad turnovers or hesitant to throw into tight windows in the 4th of a close game and resorting to checkdowns that fall short, then I agree. -

If its based on weight, Kelvin Benjamin wins. -
so are we done with the "answer is on the roster" era?
Carolina Cajun replied to rayzor's topic in Carolina Panthers
I think to an extent it was the old mentality. With Rivera, he was a players coach and if you were a back of the roster guy, Ron would tell them "If something happens, you're the next man up, I believe in you", that only goes as far as the talent you actually have on the roster. Rhule was the same, but he did the college "Rah rah" poo that got his guys on the roster and no matter what they werent going anywhere. Reich was just trash, CTE is a helluva drug. Now with Morgan and Canales, it seems like they are taking the modern nfl approach of Not For Long. Youre not competing with the other guys on this roster, you're competing with every single other player in the league. Our DBs clearly showed they didnt cut the mustard and this was a HUGE wakeup call for every single player on our roster regardless of position. Be better or be cut. -
Canales could be Mike McDaniel LITE
Carolina Cajun replied to TheBigKat's topic in Carolina Panthers
been saying all along, the O-line last year was so bad that I didnt know what we had in Bryce, still dont know. With a vastly improved O-line and a playbook that isnt written in half chewed on crayons, we're gonna find out. I Dont think he is as bad as he looked last year, but we're gonna find out. -
OH GOD! Are we channelling our "WE NEED ANSWERS" from the good old days, I'm here for it! WHEN WILL LUKE BE BACK!!!
