  1. See this is the stuff I have issues with. The WR thing isn’t overblown. It’s an actual factor. Fields went 67-9 in college and is 24-21 in the nfl (and I’m plenty aware that these things don’t directly correlate) but it’s SUCH a big gap. How does Fields look on sf with kittle, deebo, aiyuk? Heck, how would he have looked with our group when we had Dj and Cmc. Probably a LOT better than 24/21. Fields is getting so much hype NOW because he’s got the guy that we had for 4 years that the media refused to acknowledge. The things around you matter.
  2. Garrett Wilson was rookie of the year with Zach Wilson and Mike White. Chris Olave was like third in OROY voting with our current geriatric backup and Jameis Winston. I’m sure whatever the powerhouse of OSU put out at QB would’ve been fine. This is my main issue with Stroud, and is it “fair” ? No. It’s a hypothetical. Just like Burrow as well. He’s media goated already, rightfully so, but what does he look like with a Bears, Panthers, Giants, Redskins, Patriots level WR core? We’ll probably never know because they’ve supplemented him with Chase, Higgins, and Boyd almost immediately. I LOVE the solidness and touch on Strouds passes. It looks effortless. But he has had so much less adversity than Young has, and once again, that’s no one’s fault. OSU is the offensive powerhouse in the nation, it’s not even a question. UGA runs the defense. Alabama is KINDA on that downward trend, as great as the program is. Young played with Jameson Williams and Metchie and won a heisman. Next year, his leading receiver was his running back (albeit Gibbs is pretty fun and a qbs friend). Hes had pretty bad OL play in his tenure at ALA too (although Neal was obviously solid). Stroud guys- I totally totally understand why he’s the leading candidate in your eyes and any argument won’t change that. But I do challenge you to realize that playing with Garrett, Olave, JSN one year, followed by MHJR and Egbuka the next. Being behind P. Johnson, Dawand, and Wypler is just not a situation that a guy like Stroud (very talented Qb) will struggle with. We won’t be able to “Joe Burrow” - Stroud with Marvin Harrison, unless we don’t want a first round pick until 2030. My argument has never been “Stroud sucks , I don’t like him” I just don’t really really know how battle tested he is, without having an nfl offense next to him in college. I know I’m gonna get flak for this, especially by the Sam Mills avatar guy. But we do bring up Youngs size 10/10 threads. I think it’s only fair to bring up Strouds “controversy that isn’t his fault” without triggering the fanbase. I absolutely do agree OP, both guys offer things to be excited about obviously while both having concerning factors.
  3. And two of the top 4 tackle prospects and second best center in this draft*.
  4. Check the deep throw to Jameson against UGA. No momentum from the lower body (after a drop) and dimed the ball like 60 yards on stride .
  5. If love is wrong , I don’t wanna be right.
  6. You’re a pro Stroud. You don’t “hate to say it” and that’s fine. We’ll have pro strouds and pro youngs - as long as we all meet in the middle as panthers fans
  7. Yeah absolutely don’t see us taking levis. Can’t at that point. Would’ve been able to move to 5 to ensure him there.
  8. I’m calling it like I see it, lol. I didn’t go into a Stroud thread and look for that dude with the Sam Mills avatar to wait for the millisecond I commented to respond. Just stating the facts.
  9. I absolutely won’t . Didn’t even plan on watching or paying attention to pro days. They’re dumb. We’ve seen what each player is capable of. I don’t need dumb throws to open receivers to sway my mind. But then again I knew once I opened a Young thread, it’d be the usual anti Young crap. Meanwhile I’ve made my peace on not crapping on Stroud.
  10. Where did I crap on Stroud? Find one comment in any of the 49 Stroud threads created in the last 24 hours. Did I say he was throwing a bunch of lazy wobbly passes? No. I just know I’m not about to make 37291 threads about a player because….. he has a pro day. Show me ANY negatively reviewed pro day regarding a prospect. Meanwhile the Stroud crowd absolutely won’t give Young a chance no matter how many times people say “I wouldn’t be mad if we took him”.
  11. So let’s just get this out there: Stroud literally just throws to open receivers running around in shorts again and the coaches and brass have positive banter= “OMG HES FIRST PICK HES SO PERFECT HES BURROW” There’s a SINGULAR Bryce thread regarding dinner and it’s all the pro Strouds crapping on Bryce or throwing a quip. I’ve firmly seen that the pro Bryce crowd is much more accepting of Stroud than the Stroud crowd is of Bryce. Comical.
  12. Agreed. He probably enters the league and looks like Jefferson/Chase.
  13. Yeah well we had a pick in the corresponding draft. We’re not moving anywhere near the spot to take him unless we sell even more of the future.
  14. Declining the 2 firsts and 1 second from LAR should’ve been the sign to CHI that Burns isn’t available.
  15. I’d hope so! He’s only like 34 years old.
  16. Agreed. The fact that he’s not really a big burner, kinda makes me say no thanks. Would rather have Hyatt runnin posts all game to open up the middle.
  17. Not mad at this move at all. But I do see what you see, we need someone to stretch the field. Hope that comes too.
  18. He’s 194 and was 204 at the combine. I REALLY don’t think it’s out of the realm of possibility that NFL trainers and teams don’t think it’s wise to tack on extra muscle to support the nfl. Obviously he’ll never be 230 etc but I’d feel fine with him at 210 ish. Now with the Tua thing and being “swung around like a ragdoll” once again has to do with his pocket awareness and him genuinely not knowing how to fall. It’s evident. He’s actually more compact than most qb his size, which would make it harder to ragdoll. He’s the same or heavier than the following qb: Joe Burrow, Derek Carr (listed 2 lb heavier), Desmond Ridder, Mac Jones, Russell Wilson, Baker Mayfield, Kenny Pickett ( 4 lb heavier ), malik Willis, 4 lb lighter than Lawrence, but 4 inches shorter. The list would’ve been a lot shorter naming the heavier QB. Obviously his height is on the lower end. But there is no connection to short qb being thrown around easier.
  19. I don’t doubt Strouds ball distribution ability. I just sincerely highly doubt that we’d be able to put Chase/Higgins/Boyd level wr help next to him. Especially not having a first next year. I personally feel like having teams scraps and leftovers like Theilen and Chark are fine to feature next to a pure 1A. I think we genuinely struggle to find a safety valve or alpha for Stroud in years 1 and 2 of his rookie deal.
  20. I know this probably falls on deaf ears and it doesn’t exactly correlate for obvious reasons. I’m a Sacramento Kings fan, have been since I was in middle school. The draft with Curry, I remember being curious about him because of his game but weary how he’d handle the physicality of the NBA (and I know they’re not the same in terms of importance). But read this scouting report about Curry and tell me it doesn’t eerily sound like Young’s outlook- But Curry's physical limitations probably mean he is going to end up as more of a point/combo guard than a pure two. He doesn't have the size, the strength, or the lateral quickness/athleticism to defend shooting guards in the league (he does, however, have a knack for disrupting the passing lanes as he averaged almost three thefts per). He is also going to run into some issues at the point as well. His first step leaves much to be desired, and it more than likely will mean that Curry will have problems beating NBA points off the dribble. Now I know they’re not exactly the same, obviously, but I just hope it does provide a little more solace on the size concerns.
