Oh, well maybe now you’re aware? Because I mean Willis was “supposed to go round one after his awesome pro day “ yeah that didn’t happen. When he got on the field, it looked even worse. I’d say the hype coming from TEN about wanting ar15 (who is a rawer, higher upside Willis) tells me his career is pretty much never going to blossom. Just like Corral here. Is it fair? Probably not. But the fact and point of the matter is, the measurement stuff doesn’t matter to me. Everyone looks great when the pressure isn’t there.

I’m gonna assume that he’ll have the same training regiment that will get him up to nfl standards for physicality even if he never does truly bulk up. It’s not like he’s going from flag football to the gulag. Obviously the nfl is bigger and faster. As I assume nfl coaches and trainers expect him to be as well.

First paragraph- see “Garrett Wilson with Zach Wilson and Mike White” See-“ Chris Olave with Jameis Winston and Andy Dalton.” Yeah I’m willing to overlook the knitpicking things BECAUSE ALREADY DONE IT! I get it for the 489391th time, he’s small, he’s got flaws in that regard. He’s also won a heisman at this size. He’s also got probably the best football mind in the last 10 years. He’s been hit and don’t use that lazy garbage “oh it’s not nfl size players” SEC produces more nfl players than any other conference obviously. He’s taken hits. He’s gotten up. I won’t pretend he’s immune to injury but I’m not gonna pretend the things he does do, isn’t special. Pocket awareness, ability to move a defense with his eyes, hits all kinds of arm angles on throws. And once again I am NOT a Bama fan, just a watcher of college ball. I genuinely have zero care in ANYONES pro day or combine. What so he could weigh in light and ya bash him and if he weighs in heavy it’s “water weight” or “there goes his mobility” garbage. He has nothing to gain from the underwear Olympics. He’s done it on the field. Where the games played. Not in undies.

I’m also not an OSU or Bama fan. I actually watch the sport and take every factor into evaluation. Youngs small? Absolutely. He’s always been small. He’s always taken hits in the SEC. Hasn’t “broken down” yet. Can it happen? Absolutely. Can it happen with Stroud? Absolutely. I actually like and trust Young running with the ball and with pocket navigation IMMENSELY more than I do Stroud. Stroud is an in script, accurate pocket passer. And I didn’t say he’ll be the same exact player as Carr , Cousins, or Dak- do I feel very strongly that he’ll end up in that tier. Pretty high floor, ceiling that I just don’t see with an “it factor” that makes someone else. He looks uncomfortable in a lot of the things he’s bad at. And since once again all we care about is Bryce size and for some dumb reason…. COMBINE NUMBERS… I’ll pound the drum of- how many snaps had Stroud taken without - Marvin Harrison Jr, Chris Olave, Garrett Wilson, JSN, or Emeka Egbuka? How many Heismans has he won? How many of his tackles from this past season are going rounds one and or two? Obviously it’s easy to look smooth and effortless when you’re handed what he’s been handed in the big10. So yeah I will be a “Bryce Young defender” when damn near every thread is 9/1 quips thrown at Young but Stroud is holier than thou.

See this is what we’re doing. 85-90 percent of the board is Stroud (for some lazy reason) and it’s ok to criticize every single tid bit of Youngs game and then when things get hairy, use lazy cop outs like “oh I’ll be happy with either but prefer Stroud”. Why? Why do we all just hope and pray that he’s “this next coming of Burrow” fine point out Youngs flaws to the moon but AT LEAST acknowledge that Stroud is VERY MUCH likely projected to end up in that Cousins/Carr/ Dak/ “non elite but good” qb group. I’m personally not trading up to one for an ok option . Get rich or die tryin.

Bryce Young will be the best QB ever in Charlotte
Eric4280 replied to Diehardpanth02's topic in Carolina Panthers
But I just don’t get the point of it is? His size doesn’t really have to do with his ability to avoid concussions. Bryce is ALOT smaller than he is, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll suffer the same fate of injuries etc. -

Tua isn’t small, I don’t know why this is common thought. He’s a bit shorter than nfl average obviously but he’s not “small”. He just doesn’t know how to fall. Which is why he’s taking judo this off-season. -

This is just absolute nonsense. I’ll take the size crap. Not this lazy crap. -
I share this same sentiment. His confidence was probably shelled as well. Doesn’t really have that “dog” but he’s hyper talented. I’m very interested to see how dynamic he is.

Mike Kaye: Panthers looking to add EDGE player
Eric4280 replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
There is a ton of out there (compared to other positions). We’ve cap to play around. -
I sincerely just hate stubborn loyalty to where it becomes a fault. We saw it a lot with Rivera and (initially, honestly I thought Rhule was proactive) Rhule became masterclass of “the answer is so obvious but I won’t adjust”. Hopefully (and I think it’s probable) Reich makes sensible adjustments. Also just realized our last 3 coaches last names begin with the letter R.

Discussions don’t really work. When factual things are named, it’s shut down with “Ah that doesn’t matter, who cares, that’s overrated”.
-
I legitimately can’t tell the difference between he and McCown in certain instances.
-
We’ve had a civil war in here the last 14 days. I summon a truce to all and keep pounding.
-
Well yeah of course. Which guy offers more with less help though? We’ve seen what Young does with less than ideal options, we have not seen that with Stroud. That’s all I’m implying.

Unfinished Business (Second most cap room in NFL at $30m)
Eric4280 replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I wouldn’t be mad at a Clowney signing. Obviously he’s not what anyone thought he’d be. But he’s solid vs the run and I mean we have cash so smoke em while you got em. -
And that’s fair. All concerns on this board are perfectly fine and I’d never draw issue to it. But I just think it’s foolish to ignore one’s flaws while faulting another. One last tid bit before I log off that may not matter. Bryce has played behind terrible by SEC standards in OL play, taken hits from NFL players. It’s happened many a times. I personally just haven’t seen what Stroud is with Theilen and terrace as his go tos in the nfl vs all of those combos he’s had in college. He very well may be able to adjust and overcome* . I won’t rule that out. But it’s something to think about.

You can still be a Stroud guy and get bashed for offering a critique. It’s amazing. Nowhere do you see the Young guys acknowledging that he’s absolutely perfect and the second coming. He’s got flaws. His size is a built in flaw for obvious reasons(which is obviously a big one) , the shoulder thing does make me a tiny bit eh, some adjustments to the nfl MAY be tough for him. Once you say one thing about Stroud, it’s like the floodgates open. It’s pretty funny with that whole Burrow thing too. Jefferson wasn’t supposed to be what he is now. He was supposed to be a sure handed solid receiver. If he were anything close to what he is now, coming out, he obviously goes before games named Jalen Raegor. Every situation is different with every single player and not every factor applies. “Marvin Harrison and Wayne made Peyton by that logic”. No, that’s not how this works. I think Garrett Wilson and Olave looking questionably better as pros vs college (questionable, don’t come at me) is a LITTLE alarming considering the fact that they had bottom 5-7 QB play and still did what they did. I’m not gonna doubt Stroud is a great ball placer and has so much arm strength. But the nfl is a lot messier and less clean cut. I’ve yet to see him play in a real mess.
