This Bryce Guy (General BY Discussion)
PleaseCutStewart replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Bryce did good enough last game despite poor weather conditions, drops, terrible playcalling, and some of the biggest ref fugups you will ever see. But... that was against a Tampa secondary that was bad when fully healthy - we got the walmart version of their secondary because of injuries. We have seen Bryce against good defenses this year and at his best, he has thrown for like 125 yards and had only 1 turnover. Aka, our defense had to either force multiple turnovers or hold a team to like 13 points or less -

Interesting. I wasn't even thinking about a run-blocking upgrade. I'm just tired of guys blowing by Corbett and leading to interior pressure in like 1 second -

I like it. We apparently are at our best when we are double digit underdogs -

While you aren't wrong, I feel like Canales is like Zac Taylor. A dude that is clueless as a coach but will stick around with us much longer than he should -

By this logic, our -69 means that we should win double the number of playoff games this time, right? -

Comparing an undrafted LB and our #1 pick as being our worst player on the team pretty much sums up everything you need to know about Bryce... -

Ummm... have you seen Dave prepare for big games? They haven't gone well and we usually look worse than a scout team offense playing in the preseason... just utterly inept -

Another fun Jet fact - their leading receiver was Garrett Wilson at 395 yards. As bad as that sounds, it's made worse by the fact that Wilson didn't have a catch after week 6 -

At this point, if Hunt can't come back, I would rather see Curhan at RG than Corbett... -

Until Bryce has a season where he has 0 TDs and like 30 INTs, yeah... Since INTs have been tracked (I think like 1930 or some year like that), there has never been a team to not get at least 1 interception in a season. The Jets accomplished that this season... Like, I could be a millionaire right now if I had just bet the opposing QB to not throw an INT against the Jets every game this season... -

The Jets just pulled off a record of all records not intercepting a single pass this year. Even at our worst and most inept, we weren't setting embarrassingly bad records that will never be broken... -
Not TMac's fault he has a bottom 5 QB in a power run focused scheme throwing him the ball... Put him on any competent offense and TMac is probably at 1500+ receiving yards And while Shough did a good job of having a winning record, he was barely over .500 (5-4) in games he started and had a defense that held just about every team to 20 points or less. A 10-6 TD to INT ratio (13-6 if you want to count his rushing TDs) is nothing to write home about. The Saints were competitive in most of their games before Shough despite having one of the worst starting QBs this year in Rattler. Give Shough credit for turning the Saints season around, but that defense is probably the biggest reason why they have won most of their games

True, but teams also 1) didn't need to pass on us because they could run it away from DB, and 2) our offense was so putrid that other team just started from inside our 30 yard line half time game (and again just ran it against us). Let's also not forget that Burns was a PFF darling because he had a good pass rush win rate. What those stats don't tell us is that the dude had oven mitts for hands and missed the sack on the QB like 80% of the time -

Just wait until the Carolanta Failthers merge and become the next Chiefs dynasty ...... (aka the modern day Jets) -

Rams can be run on - I feel like their front 7 is better at rushing the passer than stopping the run. What we can't afford to do is keep getting in 3rd and long where we let their edges pin their ears back. We gotta calculate our deep chances well - the Rams will probably take the approach of other teams and run single high safety on 1st and 2nd down. The week 13 Rams game is the 1 time this year where we actually had multiple designed deep routes that Bryce threw to. We need more of that and less stupid Little Giants flea flickers from the 20 yard line plays... -

Hopefully they hired the guys that created the S2 test that got Bryce drafted number 1 as their consultants... -

He also hasn't had a good front 7 pass rush three of those years (and the 2022 Broncos pass rush wasn't particularly talented either outside of Chubb). Cover 3 zone (Evero's primary zone) usually leaves underneath routes open, so QBs will usually have that checkdown option with the DC's hope that somebody then steps up to make the tackle for a short gain. Think of our Seahawks game - while the Seahawks didn't get a ton of sacks, Bryce got baited into the checkdown and the Seahawks wrapped up and tackled the RB/TE almost immediately every time for practically no gain. Unfortunately for us, half of our starters are rocking missed tackles rates that makes me want to vomit, so those 2 yard checkdowns to RBs turn into 10 yards in a hurry. -
1) Marquise Brown (Shaheed might be a bit too expensive) 2) Probably isn't happening - can't afford to waste cap there. Just gotta roll with our TEs we have or draft one. Maybe Darren Waller if he has anything left. 3) Probably gonna be out of range for Reese and Styles, so no to drafting ILB round 1 if they are gone. Would be great if Woods, Faulk, or Terrell fell. Possible we take an OT also if they drop, especially if we move on from BC and with Moton on his last legs with us. 4) Not sure we have the money to get a high end pass rusher in free agency and would rather not burn more money on underachieving edges like Wonnum. Keep developing Scourton & Princely and draft an edge (ideally 1st round unless BPA other position is better) 5) Sure, but it would have to be a day 3 draft pick IMO (unless a really good one drops like Starks last year). Little out of FSU is somebody that fits Evero's scheme well (if he is back with us). I like what I see on tape out of Wheatley from Penn St, but I think he will shoot up draft boards after the combine. 6) Dalton needs to be cut the day after our last game of football this year... Not a great free agent crop of backup/fringe starter QBs that won't break the bank, but Mariota, Tyrod, or Zach Wilson are worth a look or start looking at day 3 trades for other team's backups (still would like Winston for a 6th rounder or similar value)
