Hopefully Ottawa start panicking since they haven't scored in 4 periods. Need to capitalize while we can -

Draft Week Rumors, Leaks and Media Draftniks Final Mocks
PleaseCutStewart replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'm curious if the knee concerns are smoke and mirrors from teams. Haven't seen any real details about what is making the knee a concern. The ACL injury makes sense, but that isn't the worst thing with the medical advances towards ACL surgeries and rehab. I guess we will find out how concerned teams are by his medicals in the draft. There is no way he makes it to us at 19 unless the medicals are a red flag -

If McCoy makes it to 19, that's as easy of a slam dunk pick you will get. Best corner in the draft in my opinion -

Hard to interpret some of Brugler's opinions. Capable of running a robust route tree sounds like a lazy thing to say - I'm sure just about every slot TE is capable of running a full route tree... I want to know if he is currently able to (which from tape leads me to a no). Granted, it's pretty common for most receivers/TE not having a full route tree developed before they get drafted. Agility/acceleration after the catch hasn't shown up on his tape (at least his Oregon tape) for those dig/out breaking routes while it has for the seam and slant routes. Agree he has a good physical build and he is very good running seam routes. His build definitely helps him to shield defenders and create a large target point for the QB. Drops were a concern, but it could be focus drops just like T-Mac was/is prone to. Run blocking is an accurate statement, but again, we have only seen him run block in the slot/backfield - inline blocking is a whole different animal. With his athleticism, he definitely has a high ceiling. I just think he also has a low floor and don't like taking that big of a risk on a mid 1st rounder. I think this is a deep TE draft and would much rather target one in the 3rd or later. He's very boom or bust to me - bust in terms of being worth a 1st round pick, not an out of the NFL in a few years type bust. I feel like he gives me Evan Engram vibes. Not saying that Evan Engram was/is a bad NFL player, just that most people would agree he shouldn't have been drafted in the 1st. -
How Will the Lawrence Trade Influence the Draft???

Hopefully that means the Giants draft a WR/TE and an edge or LB move down. Not sure it impacts the draft that much though -

I have to disagree on most of what you said. His route tree is his biggest weakness. The only routes I would say he looked great on were seams, screens, and slants. His curls were ok while the routes that require sharp cuts (dig, out, corner) were poorly ran by him. Granted, route trees are something that can be developed by NFL teams, it just might take a while for Sadiq. His blocking I am not sure on. He blocked corners/safeties/hybrid coverage LBs pretty well from the slot. I haven't seen if he can block/chip in the box LBs or down linemen and we have no tape of if he can do it at the y-tight end spot. He is a willing blocker which is good. He should be explosive after the catch, but it for whatever reason hasn't shown up on tape. This is probably one of the most baffling things for me watching his tape after his crazy good combine - the dude should be a YAC machine, but it just isn't there on his tape. Not saying this article is article of the year or anything, but it gave pretty good insight into Sadiq's YRR and YAC last season. https://www.nbcsports.com/fantasy/football/news/should-te-kenyon-sadiq-be-a-first-round-pick-with-these-red-flags-in-his-nfl-draft-profile -
Draft Week Rumors, Leaks and Media Draftniks Final Mocks

Yeah, but most of these tight ends 1) Were effective y-tight ends (both blocking and running routes) 2) Had a fully (or mostly fully) developed route tree 3) Had good peripheral stats (YRR, YAC/RAC, Air Yards, etc.) 4) Had low drop percentages And it's hard for players like Kittle, Loveland, and Laporta to get stats when they are playing for run first Big 10 teams. And yes, I know Oregon ran it more than they passed, but those teams were probably like 60-65% run with QBs far worse than Dante Moore -

I don't understand where this idea of Smith-Wade being an effective safety came from. I am all for adding a CB in the draft, but I want no part of Smith-Wade being anything more than a depth safety at best if we move him to safety. At the end of the day, Smith-Wade is a JAG, whether its at nickel or safety -

I think it's less pushing him out the door and more making sure his knee can hold up and not overpaying him. -

Players like Kittle and McBride are exceptions to the rule. And they were drafted very late because of how nonexistent their stats were in college. Big difference between taking a chance on a day 3 pick than a 1st round pick -
Draft Week Rumors, Leaks and Media Draftniks Final Mocks
PleaseCutStewart replied to 45catfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
People keep saying Sadiq wasn't targeted while failing to recognize that he literally had the most targets and receptions for Oregon this year. The guy had a god awful YRR and YAC (like bottom 50% of TEs in college football and worse than many TEs that won't even get drafted) while also having a drop rate north of 10%. His receiving yard total was crap in large part because of his failure to do anything after the catch. From the tape I have seen of him, he only has straight line speed - he is surprisingly way slower than he should be laterally. This is one of the reasons he was primarily used as a seam and screen TE (also solid success with slants) - he just doesn't have a quick break when running a corner, out, or dig route and badly rounds these routes off (this will lead to QBs throwing INTs). I get he had a crazy combine and the dude is a freak athlete, but he has so many red flags, it's hard to keep track of all of them. Just too many unknowns to draft him in the 1st IMO -

Likely will have to leapfrog the Vikings for him. But I also wouldn't be shocked if he is taken earlier than that. I feel like his draft stock has soared the most among 1st round picks (outside of Styles) -

People are mocking him to us solely because we don't have any good tight ends on our team without recognizing that he does not fit Canales' scheme one bit. We will look at inline tight ends like Delp, Raridon, or Roush most likely if we draft TE. I will be shocked if Sadiq is our pick. -

I like Thieneman, but don't think he makes it to 19. I like McDonald's elite run stopping ability, but his lack of pass rush makes it hard to justify taking him with pick 19. Would be all for trading down to like 30 and taking him there -

Lol, if we are doing that, we would be very stupid. Sadiq would be the equivalent of drafting somebody like Zachariah Branch (minus his arrest issues from a couple days ago) - a dude with elite level speed that has no route tree. And Branch (prior to the arrest) was a fringe 2nd rounder, likely 3rd rounder. Drafting Sadiq in the 1st round means you think he can flex between inline and slot TE and be great at both. If you don't think he can make it as an inline TE in some capacity (which is what I think), you aren't drafting him in the 1st. I will be extremely shocked if we draft Sadiq. Canales has shown he likes inline tight ends that can block, and I'm confident in saying that is not Sadiq -
