While I get your point about Lewis, he wasn't "drafted onto a horrible Ravens expansion team" in the traditional sense of an expansion team. He was simply drafted onto a Ravens team that was new in name and location but not in terms of building a new team from scratch, ala Carolina, Jacksonville, and Houston in the recent past. While the Browns were only 5-11 in 1995 before the move to Baltimore, they were 11-5 in 1994.

Also 79!

How so? If Rhule recruited them to Baylor, it would absolutely speak to his credibility in recruiting players who turn into NFL draft picks, regardless of the coaching.

She's not the first.

I have seen bits and pieces of it while my son has watched it. From the little I've seen, it seems to just fit the mold of the fairly recent DC movies (dark, dark, rainy, and dark). Some of the reviews here give me some hope, but I'm not holding out much for this being more than recent DC movies like Justice League, Batman vs. Superman, etc. I just don't get the need for the continuous dark cinematography. Maybe it will change my mind once I watch it in full.

I just did the three rounder at PFF.

I would hate that trade.

Also, one of the first things they said after the conclusion of the game was, "Congratulations to the Carolina Hurricanes for winning the Metro Division." It was also said with a true congratulatory tone. You wouldn't often hear that from an opposing team's broadcasters, especially when that opposing team was the one fighting to also win that same division.

Got it. Let’s just hope the Canes win Tuesday and leave no opening for the Rangers to win the division. -

Can the Canes clinch with just a point Tuesday? The Rangers have a game in hand. If they were to win in OT Tuesday and win their final two games while the Canes lost their final game, the final standings should be: 1. Rangers - 114 points 2. Canes - 113 points Am I missing something about how the Canes can clinch with a single point, absent the Rangers losing at least one of their final two games? -
I was thinking this exact thing when I read the OP. "Know he is from a smaller program ..."? Since when is Ole Miss a smaller program than Pittsburgh or Liberty?

Couldn't the Panthers just not use a large portion of that cap and roll it over to next year? That provides a ton of space before any cuts or restructures next offseason.

Game Thread; Canes @ Lightning 3/29

Sloppy game from the Canes overall. No sustained pressure, lots of sloppiness with the puck, and the refs had a huge impact. -
One of my good friends is a huge KC fan. We had this exact discussion while our families were on vacation together last week. The cap is a zero sum game. If one person takes up a huge portion of the cap, it negates a team's ability to fill the other slots on that team with high quality assets. As much as I hate Brady, this is one thing I have always respected about him. He has always taken less than market value (maybe not by much but still less) to allow his team to have more money for other players. There really is something to that. So many don't buy into it though.

Am I reading the reports correctly? $30M per year average for a WR??? That is insanity. Adams' deal at $28.5M per year average was insane as well.

I know you are a Howell fan, and I believe I’ve read you post that you think he can be a good NFL QB down the road. I understand the frustration with the current state of the Panthers, but why would you want someone who you believe will be a good QB to NOT come to Panthers to, hopefully, help turn them around? Of course, this question is from the perspective of giving Howell time to develop versus throwing him into the fire next year.

This trade would be the epitome of the “I want it and I want it now” mindset. This trade, in no way, is good for the long term Panthers. You simply cannot build a team giving up this much for one player when you don’t have the other pieces already in place. The Rams had those players in place before the Stafford trade, which is why it worked. The Panthers have no players in place and very little cap space to build around Watson. While this trade may provide the Panthers with an exciting QB, the seasons going forward will be much like Houston’s last season with Watson at the helm: some highlight reels but a poo record.

The Panthers and their fans need to get over finding a proven commodity QB for the time being. The Bridgewater/Darnold debacles have set this franchise back. Any attempt to overcorrect at this point is going to set the franchise back farther by way of cap room and draft capital. The organization has to play the long game at this point (hello, Jay-Z. LOL), and the fans need to understand that. Does it suck? Yes, but it may be the only way to save years and years of turmoil for the team.

Boo! Watson is a great talent, but I am not for spending the capital it would take to get him to Charlotte.

Game Thread: Carolina @ Toronto Puck Drop 7PM
Bama Panther replied to Anybodyhome's topic in Carolina Hurricanes
You’re right. Toronto is playing against one of the best teams in the league tonight. -
Guardians. I am a Cleveland fan (wife is from Akron, although I've been a fan since the early 1990s). The team is now named after freaking statues on a bridge. Plus, the new Flying G logo absolutely sucks. I even hate the new font for the team as well.
