  1. Four yards longer, and the Panthers were working with a kicker kicking his first ever field goals in a meaningful NFL game. The kick would have been longer (54 versus 50), which would make it harder. However, according to data from 2014-2018 available in a quick Google search, the percentage for making field goals between 50-53 yards was about 69%, whereas the percentage for making a field goal between 54-57 yards is 60%. Much of the chatter here has been about kicking the field goal vice going for it. Based upon that, the distance needed for the first down is irrelevant. The only relevant factor is the length of the field goal. Here, both coaches chose to play field position.
  2. Did you all know that Bill Belichick had his team punt from the MIA 37 yard line on the opening drive of the NE-MIA game this weekend? Granted it was 4th and 17, but he still opted for the punt/field position over a possible three points. I know we all hate the Patriots, but Rhule made essentially the same decision that a six-time Super Bowl winning coach made. You know what? You’re right (from your couch/office chair/recliner). Rhule SUCKS!!!
  3. And he stayed on the ground for several seconds. Seems like an obvious time for the concussion personnel to make him come out to get evaluated.
  4. The more negative message (for anyone) is a sense that you can never be more than the worst thing you’ve ever done … or allegedly done in this case.
  5. Don’t forget, this stat line would be over 17 games as opposed to 16 in the past. This would require an average of about 235 YPG, approximately 1.5 TDs per game, and less than 1 INT per game. If Darnold can put up these numbers, I think the QB issue is solved for a few years. However, over a 17-game season, I’d like to see more TDs.
  6. I don’t ordinarily care. I do this year solely because I plan to take my boys to the game in Houston, as we currently live in San Antonio.
  7. Fair point but that’s asking a lot for the Panthers to hit on six picks in each of the next two drafts.
  8. That is with only 30 players under contract though. That money will go fast when you consider the 23 other players (21 to count as top 51) needed to fill out the roster.
  9. Absolutely. Common Scheme/Plan + Sex Assault Propensity = Defense Counsel’s Worst Nightmare.
  10. I’m not saying Watson is guilty of any crimes, but IMO, this “consensual activities” piece is not good for him. I was a Defense Attorney for four years, and many of my cases involved defending Airmen against sexual assault allegations. When the Defense relies on, “Well, yeah. The actions the victim alleges are true, but they were consensual,” you’ve automatically created a credibility competition. When the accused’s credibility relies on 15-20 allegations of similar sexual misconduct, the accused’s credibility on the consensual nature of offenses goes in the tank. The Rules of Evidence prohibit character evidence against an accused in pretty much every instance. For instance, you can’t present evidence that a guy often beats women so he must have beat this one, or that he has often broken into stores so he must have broken into this one. However, there is one instance in which the Rules of Evidence allows you to present this type of evidence: sexual offenses. This is the one distinct area in which the law allows you to present evidence that this guy commit sexual misconduct against this other person so he must be the type of guy who does this thing. Not good for the Defense. Not good at all.
  11. This is the statement that crushes any credibility on this though. Jones has shown tremendous ball placement, a great deep ball, tremendous anticipation, the ability to read a defense and quickly determine where to go with the ball, and even the ability to keep plays alive with his feet by sliding in the pocket when needed. These are things that one could argue some of the other top guys haven’t shown, at least consistently. The only thing Jones hasn’t shown is the ability to be a threat running the ball. QBs who are not a threat to run the ball can end up being greatly successful in the NFL. Not saying Jones will, but he could.
  12. I’m not a scout and don’t profess to be. However, two of the three negative plays you cite do not seem to be as big of concerns as you make them out to be. The play at 06:20 does seem to be a miscommunication in which Jones threw an out-breaking route where the receiver broke in and/or was held from breaking out. At 06:40, Jones’ arm was very clearly hit, negating the ability to follow through and likely leading to the floater. There are also several plays which he keeps alive with his feet or scrambles for a few yard pick-up. Maybe a tough game to scout, but how does doing pretty much everything he is asked to do well negative for him?
  13. Would you then just start threads so you could continually tell everyone how much you hate him?
  14. Do you knock Trevor Lawrence for his supporting cast and level of competition?
  15. Been a long time since my first year torts class.
  16. If it’s true, it’s not defamation at all. To qualify as defamation, the statement must be false.
  17. Man, y’all are so butt hurt that the Bucs are winning this thing so far. Breeland absolutely clipped Evans’ leg with his own hand on that PI. You also can’t say it was uncatchable with Evan’s’ ability to lay out. It was the right call.
  18. OMG!!! How could the refs not call holding on #48 on the Mahomes scramble?!? This game is rigged. [\sarcasm]
  19. The 2022 numbers only account for 21 players being under contract. Sure, it looks like a lot of cap to play with, but they’ve got to spread that over 30-ish players.
  20. I know the world is crazy right now, and people can just say things, whether grounded in truth or not. However, where is your evidence for this? Rhule has had one free agency period during a pandemic. The biggest acquisition (Anderson) has said he loves it in the Panthers organization. Your comment is just buffoonery.
  21. Teddy’s not a trailer. He’s one of those removable side rails on the trailer. If you get it secured correctly, it’ll hold everything in. If you happen to mess up securing it, well, there goes your couch, book shelf, and lawn mower lying on the side of the highway.
