  1. Pretty similar to last year, with incremental improvement based on the improvement of the offense. The defense is average at best and, like the team as a whole (some major secondary talent, big questions in the front seven, net = average), will go as Snow (coaching) goes.
  2. I daresay that if I had a multi-billion solar investment, it wouldn't take me 4 years to figure out what I don't know about it. Without reading the article though I may be responding to a headline, and perhaps article, of dubious objective accuracy.
  3. Try as I might, I just don't find this guy funny.
  4. How is that even possible without fundamentally impacting how defense is played and tipping things majorly towards the offense?
  5. Carolina gave up a bag of chips for him... how lame were the other offers?
  6. I joined. Can't figure out how to change my team name yet, but I'm there.
  7. You can't be serious with a Rhule/Shanahan comparison based solely on record.
  8. I'll be in if there's space. Format above or the usual with K and Def, all good.
  9. Kansas roads were fantastic until Brownback and his (and those who he placed around him) financial brilliance came along... funny how that happens.
  10. The problem is that none of that is directly attributable to Rhule at this time (voluntold to hire NFL coaches, Fitterer leading the personnel decisions and draft, etc are strong possibilities), but the terrible personnel and lineup decisions, under qualified coaches, and college-esque actions of the past are. Let's see where things shake out in 6, 8, 10 weeks when things that ARE directly attributable to his work can be assessed.
  11. You're not wrong, but sometimes we have to try. It's our 'pessimistic', 'hater' way of showing hope for our fellow fans that are lost in the rose-colored garden of false hope.
  12. I mean, Tepper came out and started his spring press conference by thanking Rhule for hiring NFL coaches. Who does that unless it's a specific sore point and credit needs to appear to be placed on the guy who apparently didn't find it necessary when he had zero on his staff in key positions before? It's fully reasonable to assume he was voluntold to do so. Who said anything about playoffs? Those examples were playoff teams, yes, but dude was poor in year 1 and managed to do wayyyy worse in year 2. The bar was low and he still flopped under it. You're the one making the statement that contradicts the evidence. You're the one who needs to support it, and at this point there is no clear proof to refute the 2 years of Rhule suckage we have already in the books. Lets see where it stands in 8 weeks. Since when is being realistic automatically the same as being angry? I made a post yesterday that being objective is not the same as being pessimistic... guess we need one saying that being objective isn't the same as being angry as well.
  13. Objectivism is not pessimism. Rhule has sucked to date and looked incompetent at the NFL level... fact. Until there is evidence otherwise in the form of several weeks of looking actually competent at the NFL level, at least 8 games IMO, nothing about that perception will change.
  14. Better than the past two teams is a pretty low bar and bo one owes anyone an 'apology' if that some how happens. Being objective about what the last two years have actually been and seeing the same person in command still doing some of the same head-scratching things does not equate to being 'enamored with hating Rhule'. The guy has earned every bit of fair criticism and even cynicism and has a ton to prove on the field.
  15. He was gonna name Corral the starter but that plan got ruined. Has to hustle back to the drawing board. ...
  16. Not only not hiring NFL people, but with he himself being a pretty unproven coach on the college level (never more than 3 years at a spot, never beating actual competition, bad bowl record, etc...) the trainwreck was visible a mile away. Will this year be any different? We're on the verge of finding out.
  17. Watching from the hotel bar at the St. Louis hotel I was at for a fraternity President's conference. I had literally just told the Mankato president, "Big play, Steve Smith, right here... bank it" when it happened. After the play, that guy just looked at me with his jaw on the floor. I thought long and hard about ducking out and getting a scalped ticket... we were up in the arch and I could see the stadium as the game was going on, with my mom and girlfriend texting me updates as the game was going on. I decided that the football gods would smile on my sacrifice and give the team a boost.
  18. He interviewed McAdoo for QB coach and/or TE coach, not OC. Brady had already been hired at that point.
  19. Gross/Otah is the best, even though it was only for one year. That 2008 offensive line as a whole was pretty dang solid.
  20. McVay had 5 years of NFL coaching experience before stepping into the OC role at Washington, which FWIW was also the team and players he'd spent the prior 4 years with. Rhule's decision-making with his staff was flow out poor out of the gate, and it's unfortunate that Tepper was OK with the college crew just coming in like that. I still think that Rhule was voluntold to hire some actual NFL level coaching personnel and am not confident he did it fully of his own accord. Hopefully it will be a net positive but as I've said before, if that's the case then what is Rhule actually bringing to the table as an HC? Regular season's almost here and that will tell the story.
  21. Cam's finish in that game was fantastic, but it's also a textbook 'Rivera off the gas' game where Carolina blew a 28 point lead in less than 20 minutes to require such a closeout. One of Rivera's most infuriating traits.
  22. The throw was back and to the left.
