Russini: Some coaches wanted to bench Young
KSpan replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Same. -
Not comparable at all. Bryce chucked a very interceptable heave that to the inside of the field that went about 35 yards and that Thielen was luckily able to catch. Penix made a read and dropped a touch pass over the outside shoulder where only his receiver could get it, and the ball travelled 40-ish air yards accounting for the cross-field distance from left hash to catch. Bryce was also moving to his left and Penix was stationary. Also, Thielen has a good 1.5 yards or more of separation coming across the field. Bryce just threw a poorly-placed ball that required him to slow down and adjust. What does it all mean? Who knows, beyond a direct comparison of the two plays.

Randy Mueller in Athletic on Tepper and Bryce
KSpan replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Cam in 2015 absolutely fits that bill, throwing for 3800 and 35 TDs with Ted Ginn as the #1 outside threat... truly remarkable. -

He seemed to want to have nothing to do with Rhule. I don't blame him. -

Where did I say anything about Super Bowls or that any of those other guys are elite? -

Lamar has crazy talent, but his problem has been not performing in big games, both in-season and the playoffs. It has seemed to improve but tough to be elite until that happens, as his 1-3 playoff record with 3 TDs to 5 INTs is ugly. -
On the contrary, now they can only trade him for at or near his value. The deals offered before were sweetheart outs that went well beyond his value, but alas, here we are.
-
Another train wreck he should see coming from forever away...

I caught that at the very start too. Just weird.

Live look at Tepper:
-
Seifert was better than Rhule overall, even though that went down in spectacular flamees, and I'd argue was better than Wilks as well given how solid those 1998 and 1999 offenses were. Seifert's downfall was his personnel control, which is separate than his coaching ability IMO.

Don't know about the pick 6s, though that wouldn't have a major impact on the average, and the short field is the offensive ineptitude I was tlaking about. It's like how Rhule and co were crowing aboutbeing #2 in yards allowed in 2021 but they were still bottom half in points allowed; the two are interrelated, but it's ultiamtely about keeping teams off the scoreboard.
-
Listening now and hearing Tepper talking about events, soccer, concerts... jesus. Tone deaf. No one gives a damn about events.
-
YPG is a fairly worthless stat, especially given the offensive ineptitude, and they're 30th in ppg. That's the real metric and perhaps it could be better, but the defense does appear to pass the eye test.
-
What are you talking about? Cam carried every single offense he was on here in Carolina, but if you want to nitpick 2011 was arguably the best supporting cast he ever had and it was all downhill from there. Cam looked the part from day one and elevated the team around him. Bryce has proven himself to be tough but has shown absolutely zero of Cam's intangibles and he also has inferior physical traits to not only Can, but for the position in general. There is no comparison.
-
Reich was/is not a good coach but Tepper also deserves every ounce of criticism heading his way. As I've said in many a thread before, it's been obvious mistake after obvious mistake since he took over. Dude needs to completely overhaul his approach to ownership and the football side of things.
-
24th in yards, 34th in TDs... not quite top 15 material, and his limitations were on display on 2021. Was a bad break for his career though, no question.
-
I can kind of understand it as they were expecting a ton of pressure of the middle, but the defenders up top hung back and bought time for the inside pursuit to get there. Bottom line though is that a bubble screen is NOT a play to call with the game on the line. It was a bad call that was well defended.

I love me some Cam but his arm is absolutely shot, my man. It's not his fault directly but tha'ts an impotant attribute for a QB to have.
-
Might've just been a god-awful attempt. Unfortunately, we have no way of actually knowing.
