And if/when that happens, it will still be a dumb name.

At least Cleveland Browns rolls off the tongue. There is nothing smooth about saying Washington Commanders.

Sounds like something from a footballl video game that doesn't have an NFL license.

Rutgers you say?

When did he ever get started? Performance has declined since he took over.

That was obvious all the way back in January 2020. Its fair to say that Cam had some injury concerns, but not like that 2020 team was going to be competitive anyway. Instead, they went out and started this madness by signing Teddy to a silly contract. The rest is history.

Kupp has had 2 complete seasons, played 15 games twice (missed week 17 with 'knee soreness' his rookie season and missed week 17 last year due to COVID), and blew out his knee after 8 games in 2019. McCaffrey played in all 16 games his first 3 seasons and has only been injured the last 2. CMC has had 3 complete seasons to Kupp's 2 but has missed more than >23 games the past 2 years, counting the games where he went out mid-game, and Kupp has missed >10 in 5, and only game due to COVID the last 2 seasons. Kupp at this point in time is much more durable, and even came back from his knee injury quite literally faster and better than before.

Jeff Davidson is available too, but we already hired an OL coach.

And rightfully so - it's self-inflicted. The clown came in thinking he was smarter than the NFL and would work his overrated college magic (green QB jerseys because "green means go"...joke), got his ass kicked for two years and looked straight up clueless while it happened, and is finally doing what he should have done in the first place after somehow retaining his job. These hires appear to be steps in the right direction but is it even really of his own accord? Until he proves otherwise, dude's a hack. Long way to respectability after what's happened these past seasons and a few hires that may or may not be his idea only starts to move the needle.

Have they (honest question), or have they said things in general support of the team and their teammates? Seems like it was more the latter than the former. Players weren't openly condeming Meyer in Jax either even when it was clear that he was terrible. I'm just saying there is an inherent conflict of interest in players commenting on their coaching staff.

If he actually deserved credit then sure, he will get it. At this point though he's done nothing to show he's an NFL-caliber coach, and surrounding himself with potentially-competent coaches is good leadership but how much credit does that earn someone? For example, how much credit does Arians deserve for Tampa's improvement these past 2 years?

The fluff pieces the last third of the season or so were just abrasive. The bot would be welcome for actual news, but we didn't need another article about how Cameron Erving and John Miller were committed to getting better or whatever nonsense they were putting out.
-
He finally played in the last game and looked pretty decent, though I believe he may not have always been going against first-stringers.

This is what an actual rebuild/restart with competent leadership looks like.

Throw from a pure winner right there.

It can be, and IMO was, both. The issue with this scenario was that Teddy folded like a card table as 2020 went on (and looked exactly the same in Denver this year), so how do you keep a player like that at the QB position? The core problem was signing him in the first place expecting something that years of film showed clearly wasn't there, similar to Darnold. It's appears a major flaw in this regime thus far.

These 'prove it deal' comments are silly - Cousins has nothing to prove. He's a competent above-average starter with a TD to INT ratio approaching 4:1 who has thrown for more then 30 TDs 3 of his 4 years in Minnesota and only less than 4,000 yds 1 of the last 7. He can make a few plays when needed and will be paid as such with more than one year on a contract. Stats don't tell the whole story but the guy is a clear 2 or 3 levels above prove-it players like Teddy, Dalton, Jameis, Mariota, etc.

5-12 or worse won't cut it.

Who knows what his reasons truly are, but on the surface Pep's rebuke sure seems somewhat damning.
-
Same with Deonte. So many opportunities, particularly with all the garbage time toward the end of the season, and yet here we are

Yup. 2020 was the time to grab Jameis, not this year. I still think Jameis has a sliver of a chance to turn into a consistent QB, but the staff here aren't going to be the ones to make that happen.
