I have no expectation of the team winning it all but at this point, why not take the weak NFCS title by force and keep building that new NFL-level attitude?
-
What are you talking about?
-
Among other things a Lathon jersey from 96, Sam Mills jersey from 97, a couple of Kerry Collins rookie jerseys, and a #95 jersey that just says 'Panthers' on the nameplate that I assume may have been produced before they had a set roster.

So refreshing after years of Rhule's blathering on.

I mean, not really. Maybe Carolina falls into a playoff spot by way of the atrocious NFC South but it's a given they'll get killed by actual competent teams. I guess that's a positive/meaningful to some folks. I'm not a tanker. Just putting it out there.
-
Since then the Broncos have scored 2 Wilson to Jeudy TDs and it's 27-14 at the half.
-
Yeah, and it's not like Carolina has had many big moments to effect these past years. I can see it both ways. We were spoiled by having a decade of Julius Peppers.

Burns gets some stats but I don't feel like he's a game-changer. I'm admittedly not glued to the TV this year though so perhaps that has changed this year. I understand keeping him but given his limitations in the run game I would have leaned towards taking the Rams offer.

My son and I did a franchise on 22 and started another one on 23. Seems more or less that same to me, but the in-game player movent has been tweaked and feels a little better IMO.

The whole 'explosive play' thing is, IMO, not an indicator of much of anything. Kind of like the 20-yard threshold of 'deep pass' missing the point, which is typically to try to measure how often an offense can cause drastic change in field position or on the scoreboard. Neither a 10-yard run or 20-yard pass achieves that. IMO yhe best example of this is the Saints after about 2011 or so. Sure, they won games and put up pretty stats, but when it came to the playoffs and competing against the best teams they were unable to really take advantage downfield and got shut down. Doesn't mean QBs have to be long bombers all the time, but 10 and 20 yard plays in a vacuum aren't that impressive.

And then made a solid throw on 3rd down.

HOT TAKE Jaycee Horn isin't a shutdown corner
KSpan replied to DMathematics's topic in Carolina Panthers
By 'cap' I assume you mean 'crap' and no, no it's not. You're exposing a lack of knowledge here. For example, the Patriots: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/sports/wp/2017/09/07/the-patriots-specialize-in-stopping-no-1-receivers-but-can-they-contain-tyreek-hill/ Or from Matt Bowen, former NFL safety: https://www.espn.com/nfl/insider/story/_/id/17612045/creative-ways-double-team-nfl-top-wide-receivers -
HOT TAKE Jaycee Horn isin't a shutdown corner
KSpan replied to DMathematics's topic in Carolina Panthers
You realize that teams often scheme so their best cover man is 1:1 with a second reciever so that they can roll the rest of the coverage toward the #1 receiver, right? -
I don't think pocking Teddy as the least-worst QB since 2017 Cam is the same as 'love'. I can't stand the guy as a player but while he is a milquetoast AB, the team generally did not look as utterly terrible with him as with others. They still sucked, just maybe not as much.

Lost to the Jaguars in the final drive after some braindead coaching decisions... not a very good team right now.

The Ravens are so overrated.

When did you figure out Rhule was a fraud?
KSpan replied to Randolph Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
That was so absurd. Couldn't believe he actually said it. -
Lamar signed this jersey and hat for 14 yr. old me after the Panthers/Chiefs preseason game here in 1996, a jersey I bought that summer when visiting a friend in Raleigh. I was the only person he signed anything for in the entire stadium. Pretty cool gesture. The hat was also signed by Sam Mills himself, Greg Skrepenak, and 7th round draft pick holdout Matt Finkes. The glove was game-worn by the receiver we don't speak of and I've just never reopened the frame to remove it.

Scott Fowler interview with Matt Rhule ‘fans sealed his fare’
KSpan replied to raleigh-panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
Exactly. He was fired because the team was actively worse, not because they weren't suddenly winning every game in 2022. -
When did you figure out Rhule was a fraud?
KSpan replied to Randolph Panther's topic in Carolina Panthers
All his chatter about sports science like it was something new, and then the green QB jerseys for practice because 'green means go' were massive red flags. Funny how we never heard anything else about the sport science because, shocker, the NFL was already all over it. -
Maybe she asked for/values the public apology. I'm not one for social media but this may be worthwhile to their relationship. That said, it's really none of my business and I won't think twice after closing this thread.

David Tepper ‘Under Investigation’ Over Public Money
KSpan replied to OnlyPantherFaninMaine's topic in Carolina Panthers
I assume you are not in the KC area, as plenty of people said Clark Hunt was a crappy owner. And Tepper's issue is that he has little good to counterbalance the overwhelmingly bad/unpopular of his tenure with no real sign of that changing. He's earned it thus far. -
Matt Rhule: “I wish I never took the job”
KSpan replied to CashNewton22's topic in Carolina Panthers
There was never any Third Year Leap - his teams always continued on whatever track they were on from year 1 to 2, and the biggest gains in wins occurred, between years 1 and 2. This is what's so baffling, if not infuriating, about Rhule - that these totally and easily proven false narrative got so much traction. It's all right there in the open but gets ignored.
