Yes, the Riley Reiff who has actually been a consistently decent tackle compared to the two guys who Carolina head-scratchingly chose to sign instead. Not a superstar by any means but someone who has shown they can consistently play either tackle position at an NFL level, particularly LT, and who wasn't much more expensive than Erving. I'm also assuming that Reiff would have wanted to come here, of course. No guarantee that Carolina was even ultimately an option he would/did consider.

And it's not like it was unpredictable. Same situation as Teddy, Whitehead, and maybe even Sam - guys with years and years of consistent film don't tend to magically become something they've never been. Some years I guess it works like in 2013, but even then guys like Mitchell, Mikell, and Florence had put some quality play on film. Hopefully one or more of these high risk/reward additions still works out. I don't mean to sound like a negative Nancy here. It's just a scenario Carolina fans, and fans across the NFL really, have seen play out many times. Meanwhile, Riley Reiff is seemingly doing OK over there in Cincy... would've been great to nab him.

What's the relevance of referencing Otah here? Otah was a beast in 2008 and 2009 before breaking down and potentially having motivation issues. Besides, the team needs improvement on the interior now. If Brown has shown potential then they need to be making a decision based on current information and not what 'could' happen later. Perhaps that's what's happening here but it's tough to imagine him being any worse than what we saw Sunday and we know that Miller has started multiple games with poor performance.

Fields' first pro day was in March. Hell, the trade was discussed at the pro day itself. The objective reality of terrible officiating can be discussed without it automatically being assumed that that is the only reason Carolina lost. I think it's quite fair to say, however, that some of the missed/incorrect calls did have notable impact on the game, that said impacts more than once benefitted Dallas in a manned that did not obstruct their path to victory, and that balance would have made Carolina's potential path to victory less obstructed.

I feel like YGM would have been an asset today and that him being out may have hampered their ability to move to a different look. Hell, one of those short yardage/goal line situations it look like there were only 3 down lineman for Carolina. It was just a strange approach overall.

And Peyton ultimately proved it just like Lamar still needs to, so that's sort of a non sequitor. I personally haven't been all that impressed with him in the bigger games I've seen (Chiefs game aside) and the results haven't been favorable thus far. Still very early in his career though, so lots of time to change that perspective.

A la Chris Gamble. Not saying Henderson's at that level for sure, but Gamble was the same way and is arguably the best corner Carolina's had (especially when longevity is factored in), definitely top 3.

Week 4? Nah. A win is big but a loss is not the end of the world by any means, particularly coming off of the injuries in Houston. This team seems to have some resiliency and would bounce back, maybe even better.
