  1. Very few players ever say anything else in this situation.
  2. Absolutely not. He's not coming back from anything and was never anywhere in the first place.
  3. Cam could definitely do it, just not consistently. His default was to throw smoke but when he did put touch on it, it could be a sight to behold.
  4. Thielen immediately went out of bounds before he established/re-established control in the ref's eyes, and a moving ball/moving hands adds the element of doubt. That is the issue and why it's incomplete. Someone can bat and bobble the ball all the way down the field as long as they stay in bounds and have it in firm, clear control before going out of bounds. It was unfortunately not clear enough here. Right, but the hand and ball movement introduces a big element of question. He clearly did not have full control in the eyes of the ref and I agree with that call, or at least understand it. If he is in the middle of the end zone and not immediately going out of bounds and the exact same thing plays out then it's an unquestionable TD.
  5. In any scenario, if he catches it in the first place it's a TD. He didn't though.
  6. No he didn't. As I said, to my eyes the ball moved in his hands when he hit the ground and immediately went out of bounds before regaining full control. By rule that's not a catch. I have to say also that I love that uniform combo. The blue jerseys are ugly IMO and the lighter blue is better but that darker color of pants with black jerseys is killer.
  7. Kyle Allen, 55 yards through the air. Looks just like a Bryce ball. https://www.panthers.com/video/highlight-kyle-allen-unloads-51-yard-bomb-to-dj-moore-for-td With respect to the OP, my mom died on the 24th and I haven't seen any of the Chiefs or Bucs game outside of a highlight or two. Sounds like Bryce has been playing better, so good for him, but if this is one of those '20 yard deep ball' stats then meh. My position has always been that his ceiling is Teddy Bridgewater or Alex Smith 2.0 and that is not good enough in today's NFL, so I'll try to watch an upcoming game to see what's up. If Bryce gets beyond that then everybody wins. That said, at the start of the year my definition of success was a team and staff that steadily improves throughout the year and competes with good teams. Don't necessarily care about wins per se though they are nice, but there does appear to be improvement in recent weeks. Hopefully the consistency comes through.
  8. The ball moved in his hands when he hit the ground and he immediately went out of bounds - not a catch. Ball can't move at all even if it's still in the hands. Great effort though. Also, like the Cotchery catch, it's a bit tough but if he gets it cleanly in the first place then anything else is (likely here, anyway) a moot point.
  9. Exactly. Devalued doesn't mean teams don't find the positional output important, it means they have figured out they can get acceptable results or better for cheap by cycling backs every couple of years and not paying them big money. There will always be the stars that get paid but RB contracts are smaller in general and guys are frequently changing teams for that second contract vs other positions where quality players are nearly always re-signed.
  10. They had a TO. Wtf were any of them thinking? Rhetorical of course since they obviously weren't.
  11. 55 Air yards nearly flat-footed. Please. Besides, it's not even a matter of Jake being stronger; your whole premise is that Bryce has a stronger arm, and that is flat-out wrong, full stop. Nothing more to say here.
  12. This is one of the most ludicrously ridiculous, inaccurate takes I have ever seen. Watch this again and realize how utterly wrong you are. https://youtu.be/F9eHAzNt3lA?si=eQGe1ShkzkIVGsaj
  13. As a bit of counterpoint, if he wanted to continue his professional career then handling it like a mature adult was the only option. Dude had been playing like absolute ass and needed to own it. It's great that he did but it's not like he didn't have a large amount of self interest in doing so. Not picking on Bryce specifically here, as this applies to any player or even anyone struggling early in their career. And he still has a long way to go, but signs are positive.
  14. Eh, I'd go with that TD pass vs Green Bay last year. One of his best though and this was the type of throw though that he has very frequently missed on underthrown in the past. Great to see it drop in in stride.
  15. That was a quality throw right there.
  16. Y'all are nuts with the mustard sauce talk. Blech to mustard in general, let alone mustard BBQ sauce.
  17. YPG/total yards is a terrible statistic for this argument. This "4th ranked defense" gave up the 4th most points last year. Remember when Rhule and Snow had the "2nd ranked defense" in 2021? It's the exact same situation and circumstance with respect to this statistic and Evero but folks weren't making comments about 'running with a narrative' at that time.
  18. It's not just stats, and I daresay that I don't even really care about stats in the sense that I think stats tell the whole story. I want to see a QB that can take over games and compete/look competent against the best competition. Even if the surrounding cast is a bit subpar you can still see those guys when they're there. Mahomes' stats this year are atrocious but the guy can still load the team on his back and make things happen. I'm not saying that the only acceptable QBs are Mahomes-level but that's what Carolina needs to be looking for and it's evident even in this down year that he still has 'it'. Bryce has shown next to nothing in that area.
