Jaycee Horn listed as doubtful. Mike Evans about to have 200 yds receiving

I would take it if.. 1. They expand the active roster to 60+ players 2. It meant season starts in late August same weekend as College.

"Don’t Look Now, but Bryce Young is Closing the Gap on C.J. Stroud"
NAS replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I never post things without context and have been clear they're not at the same place and Bryce has ways to go. Go back and read my posts in this thread and stop with the false narrative. -
Caleb has put up pretty good numbers for a rookie, ones we would have gladly taken for Bryce last year. But it has been wildly inconsistent, mostly against teams with poor defenses (e.g. Panthers), or playing from behind and putting up garbage time stats (e.g. Lions). He also had legitimately 3 good wide receivers and running back weapons. His offensive line is not as bad as it seems, Caleb holds on to the ball for 3-5 business days. Most analysts predicted Bears to go deep in playoffs based on their talented roster on both offense and defense, so from that standpoint, there's a sense that the QB play is one of the main reasons they've struggled.

I dont' think he's been damaged like that but one thing is clear, don't ever underestimate what constant pressure can do to a young QB. It's enough if you hesitate for a split second or take your eyes off the field and focus on the pressure to make you miss reads and throws. The NFL is unforgiveable in that regard -
I had flashbacks of last year watching that horrible offense. They have all these weapons and nothing to show for it unless they’re getting blown out and teams start playing soft prevent defense. Caleb is not the generational talent he was hyped to be (most of us knew that) but I also think Thomas Brown offense is trash

Thomas Brown and Caleb Williams just put up this passing chart Caleb Williams did not complete a single pass beyond 6 yards downfield until the final drive of regulation in the Bears’ TNF loss to the Seahawks. Under 10 AY: 15/17, 107 yards (+4.5% CPOE) Over 10 AY: 1/9, 15 yards, INT (-27.2% CPOE)

If Horn and Clowney can’t go it’s going to be a blowout

I think we’re evaluating them for depth. Pretty much every position on defense can use an upgrade -

Nobody said he isn’t because BY got benched for a reason. But the discussion has always been if Bryce is “closing the gap” since he returned as a starter. Legitimate conversation don’t you think? -

“During the span” = since week 8 Read my original post you quoted for context if you actually care to have a conversation or you just want to act dumb. -
Caleb has a really talented arm but is a horrible passer, I don’t think he will ever be good

Sure if you think 2:1 TD to INT ratio is the same as 1:1 during that span -

Agreed, he was very inaccurate. I think something's not right with him mentally or emotionally at the moment. The sobbing on the sidelines last week was a little weird even though I know that's his friend. -

We all know winning is more than QBs job. Since returning from being benched (which is what we're talking about here), he put the Panthers to win or tie the game in all but two games. and yes, all of those games matter to those players and the organization. Nobody wants to lose other than the fans desperate to draft another overhyped player -

I agree, he even did it his rookie year where he was running for his life but still making plays. It helps to have Chase to throw the ball to, but I rate him even higher than Mahomes in being able to overcome lack of protection. -

On the topic of Bryce vs. Stroud. Let me be clear. Saying that Stroud has regressed doesn't mean that Bryce is at his level yet. Clearly Stroud is still having a better season both statistically and in terms of wins (although we know Stroud is in a much better team overall with more weapons and defense). Bryce has a while to go to "close the gap", but it speaks volumes to how high of a celling Stroud set for himself in his rookie year. It's also undeniable that Bryce has looked better over the last few weeks, or at least that he's on a higher trajectory than Stroud. I do think the offseason tour that Stroud did was a little weird. He kind of bought too much into his own hype and was putting himself into a category of elite passers etc. That thing he did with Caleb where he's acting like his big brother was also kind of cringe. Hopefully a little humble pie will get him refocused and he'll be better than before. It's a fact that Bryce has progressed this year (not regressed) but it's also due to such a low floor he has set. The traditional stats don't necessarily indicate so but as we've seen, he's doing the right things, making better decisions, his consistently one of the better rated passers by PFF, etc. I think stats AND wins will come as the team around him gets better with better weapons and defense. Maybe I'm in the minority, but I am rooting for both of them to be elite QBs and be faces of their franchise and the league for years to come. -

I just don't see them winning even their first playoff game. They're down both Diggs and Dell, and their defense is too small up front to stop teams with a running game. I think they'll be one and done. -
