For me, if one can use that late 1st rounder as a way to trade up a spot or two to draft a franchise QB, then it’s worth it.

I don’t think Scott will be picking the coach even if he is retained

It’s not exactly an endorsement if you can’t commit to retain your GM. My thread is about reading between the lines which I know you struggle with.

There was a question asked about Fitt and whether he would stay on the team after the season. Tepper basically said that it’s too early to talk about it and that he is focused on the rest of the season and that. He said Scott is the GM right now and wouldn’t commit to the future so that is why I’m very skeptical if he will stay on as the GM. He may but again didn’t really sound like a resounding yes until I think he sees where lands with the head-coaching search.

This is where I’m at

1. Tepper really likes Wilks and he will have a strong shot at being the head coach this year if he shows adequate progress and gains respect of his players. 2. Fitterer will likely be replaced as the GM. Lack of commitment or even anything positive to say about utilization of limited resources (draft picks and cap space) tells me he’s likely gone. 3. Tepper really wants a QB, he just can’t admit to tanking for one 4. Tepper pointing to Charlotte FC as an example of a winning culture and fanbase was really interesting. 5. He looked embarrassed on the podium, admitted to making mistakes and that he didn’t really know what he was doing as a rookie owner. That’s a positive

I have seen Florio argue timing is good due to a buyout clause where Tepper gets a $ for $ credit for whatever money Rhule gets in his next college job assuming he lands one.

Historically a 71.9 rating 30 or 40 years ago would have put you in the middle of the pack. For comparison, HOF QB Terry Bradshaw has a 71 career rating. But in today’s NFL it means you are dead last, really suck and should be relegated to a backup (at best).

I have zero faith Tepper would pick the right QB even if we tanked.
