Tell me you don’t know football
-
-
Good thing he will play as an OLB edge in a 3-4. I hope people realize he will have 15 sacks a year easily and will be able to play the run from a position of strength
-
Fair let’s say he gets about 20% less in salary and guarantees. $27M per year with $100M guaranteed
-
I never said Bosa isn’t better but to act like Burns is a whole tier below and doesn’t deserve to sniff $28-30M a year is just wrong
-
So what? How many times was Burns too explosive even for himself and would get to the QB but not get the sack because he would overshoot him. Burns isn’t going to get Bosa money but to act like he shouldn’t sniff 28-30 is just nonsense. I remembered when fans complained about Peppers not having more sacks then Jarred Allen. This feels kind of like us not appreciating what we have until we lose it.
-
Sacks is the only big gap which I acknowledged but you also have to consider Bosa’s job is easier on the 49er defense that’s always been loaded with talent. I would like to see a statistic on pressures per game if anyone has it. Sack’s aren’t everything. Also there was this narrative that he is somehow weak against the run lol
-
Honestly I was surprised there isn’t a bigger gap. If Burns played for 49ers, Cowboys or Steelers he would be considered “elite”. His sack numbers could have been bigger if he finished them (how many times did we see him just fail to wrap up). I think his best days are ahead of him and we need to pay him.

28MM will be a bargain in a year or two. He's about to be elite in a 3-4
-
Some people are dumb. Burns is not expecting Bosa money but he is expecting something close to $30MM and he does deserve it. He's also only 25 so you're paying him for what he's about to do, not just what he's done.
-
He's getting signed today, watch it
-
Great news, just need Burns back so we can get this thing started with a W.
-
Any update on his injury and availability? Can’t wait to see what he does for us this year
-
Haha not happening, probably some no name scrubs that Fitt will act like they’re so valuable
-
Yes and also kept us in cap hell
-
Wait why do we have a cap hit for CMC?
-
Ok I will have to figure it out
-
Any chance we can move it to 9:30?
-
I could see someone like the Bills doing it, there's a chance they don't even make the playoff based on SOS.
-
You're probably right, our leverage is much weaker than last year.

If this contract thing becomes an issue and he continues to hold out, is there still a trade market for him for a "win now" team that may be willing to give multiple first round picks? Next year's draft is loaded with talent. We're hopefully set at the QB position with Bryce, but the feeding frenzy on QBs will ensure there will be plenty of impact players in the top 15 on Defense including: Edge/DL: Jared Verse, Chop Robinson, Di Jerzhan Newton, Leonard Taylor III, Laiatu Latu. CB: Kool-Aid McKinstry, Kalen King, Cooper DeJean Not to mention, on the offensive side of the ball: WRs: Marvin Harrison Jr. (assuming he's healthy"), Malik Nabers TE: Brock Bowers (he'll be what Kyle Pitts was supposed to be) To be clear, I want Burns back, but we have to do what's right for the franchise. If this year isn't about winning, then getting some draft picks back at a cheaper contract may make sense. What do you think?

Burns doesn’t necessarily want what Bosa gets but it still makes sense for him to see what Bosa gets so he can get fair value comparatively.
-
He won’t sit out but won’t sign an extension until Bosa does.

Mechanics and footwork are something that can be improved. But Matt severely lacks accuracy and he is a slow processor. Not sure why scout’s didn’t see these issues in predraft process.
