I have read numerous places that the Giants would not go O.L. I hope they are right.

Panthers terminating Rock Hill project agreements
Stuart Smith replied to Dorian Gray's topic in Carolina Panthers
It needs to be said this is not about the S.C. Fan base. This is about an agreement between two entities that one party did not live up to. This could have been any town (city) in N.C. That made the same agreement and reneged on. There is a reason the Panthers were named the “Carolina Panthers” and not the Charlotte Panthers. As someone who lives 120 miles from Charlotte, I have numerous friends who have PSL’s. The Panthers fan base needs this regional fan base for merchandising and many other reasons. The fact that the Panthers draw many fans from outside Charlotte proper is often overlooked. If Tepper Sports does eventually ask for funding for a new stadium I imagine the state of NC will be asked to provide some level of funding. Something to think about. -

If Mara has any credibility, Giants are committed to their quarterback for this year. Murray wants Arizona to pay him.

Would you put it past Tepper to move the team?
Stuart Smith replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
3/4 of the owners have to approve a team relocating. It could always happen, but I think he knows he will make money here if he puts a quality product on the field. Do you think Jerry Jones will approve the Panthers moving to San Antonio? I think he is trying hard to make the Panthers competitive. He has made some missteps, there is a learning curve to ownership like there is coaching. If he has not fired Rhule because of the $ to buy him out, I don’t think he wants to incur the expense of moving a franchise right now. (Or 2 franchises) After all the bluster of the Rock Hill situation is resolved (It will get resolved) and the draft the conversation will change. It is a slow time of the year. -
Panthers may now be hesitant to trade back...
Stuart Smith replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
I hope the Panthers keep their first round pick and select what should be a generational talent at left tackle. We haven’t seen enough for an extended period of time to know if Christensen can handle the position. We have needed a solid left tackle as long as we have needed a quarterback. If we want to take a flyer on a quarterback in the draft Fitterer can get creative and find one. -

If he wanted to move the team it takes 3/4 of the owners approval to move. With everything the league is facing now with the Flores lawsuit and allegations I don’t think they want any more negative publicity. There is no legitimate reason to move the Panthers. He has not yet asked for a new stadium. If he puts a winning team on the field it might help sway public opinion somewhat. -
I agree, in addition the coaching staff should be stronger. His biggest challenge is decision making on those few occasions when his protection held up. If a quarterback is drafted he will sit for some time. There are no available quarterbacks that would be an upgrade. A healthy McCaffrey and decent OL is worth 3 more Wins if the defense holds up.

Apparently the Browns wanted this for Baker.

Why would he tank them? -
I would bet even money we will not know until sometime draft day.

It is a concern to me. We have not seen enough of Nixon, Hoskins, Roy for any length of time to know what we have. I worry about depth, 17 games is a long season.

Wonder if KC would trade the 2nd round pick they acquired from Miami for Robbie. Hmmm.

Panthers hold prelim talks with Mayfield reps

Agree with a solid B. If we do not trade CMC it will be interesting to see him behind a solid offensive line. One of the biggest upgrades not mentioned would appear to be upgrades in the coaching staff. It remains to be seen, but we might have a coaching staff who knows how to make halftime adjustments.

He was a left tackle at LSU. His senior year he graded a 99. The Panthers were expected to draft him in 2015, but backed off a day or 2 before the draft. An ex girlfriend was murdered and the investigation was not completed in time for the Panthers to fill good about drafting him. Given that this was right after the Rae Carruth fiasco, the Panthers could not risk drafting him. So…a first round draft pick went undrafted as everyone was skittish about spending a draft pick on him. Since he went undrafted he could sign with anyone. Dallas and Jerry Jones were waiting and signed him immediately without using a draft pick. (2015)

I did not say he was not a good coach. He realized that without Brees it would be more of a challenge. For someone who had contemplated a change anyway that was the deciding factor most believe. Being suspended a year by the NFL for trying to cover up bountygate should always place an asterisk by his name in any NFL records. Only coach ever suspended by the NFL.

Payton lost his MoJo when Brees retired. He knew it and moved on. We can all hope the experience on the Panthers coaching staff this year will make a difference.

Exactly my concern.
