LT makes a lot of sense. Even is Icky can return to form after a year with looks like it's 50/50 Moton won't have much longer. I wonder if we look at Chubb for Edge. He was just released and played for Evero in Denver.

Inherited a 2 win team missing draft capital from a dumb trade. Turned them into a 5 win team followed by an 8 win team and made the playoffs. I think Canales should be fine as we overachieved last year. If we have a bad year this year I think he goes into next season on the hot seat, but to me his 3rd year should be safe unless it just completely derails. It gets complicated we you look at replacing Bryce next year. Do you let a coach on the hot seat make that call? I also think you should let him have a chance with a QB he picks as well so yeah it's a little complicated...

Apparently he was the 3rd worst starting QB at deep passes his rookie year. I'd also argue that drafting Chase greatly helped his deep ball (again I think it's more of a WR stat). He did appear to increase the speed in which the ball was coming out by tweaking a few things. You'd think OSU or LSU would have tried this with him in college...

I'm guessing it's just their rating on throws that deep. So volume wouldn't really matter. This is why it's a flawed stat, but also any mistake is going to weigh heavier on lower volume.

He even changed his motion after his rookie year to add more velocity in his throws. Seems to be a pretty smart QB who is going to figure things out.

Yeah I'd lean towards it just being a flawed stat that relies too much on opinions vs strict data. I've always thought deep passes were more of a WR stat anyway. Most QBs, (even Bryce). can get the ball out 20 plus yards. Arm strength really shows up for players like Mahomes and Allen when they can make these off balance throws while evading pressure that still come out as bullets on the money.

Then why is Byce also last in other PFF stats? The deep ball thrower stat by PFF can simply be flawed vs some conspiracy trying to prop up a QB on a team that a former employee now works for. Both of these guys were also hired AFTER the Panthers had already drafted Bryce. Trying to prop him up with a made up stat while he struggled would be a detriment to their own team honestly.

I don't know much about the first round guy, but I'd love Hill, Green should be a nice developmental project QB, throw in a fast safety and massive OT that can eventually replace Moton and I'd be pretty happy with that.

Crosby is already expensive and about to be 30. I'd prefer the younger cheaper option. Thibs didn't get a ton of sacks this year but his pressures were up (might make him a little cheaper). I really think he is one of the reasons Burns got so many sacks. The new contract coming up is another reason he could be traded for less like Burns was for us, but that may fall more into next year.

Green was a streaky QB at Arkansas, then again he was working with an Arkansas roster. If a coach could really let him sit and develop he has a lot of tools to like.

Mafe at Edge, Cade Otton at TE should be some mid tier guys that would be nice upgrades. I'd rather trade for Thibs that Crosby. Younger and probably cheaper to acquire.

Looks like he also intentionally drove into a police officer and ran from the police. Throw in this all happening in his first offseason who knows what the punishment will be?

Not the biggest fan of Nix. I think he was the weak spot of their roster. His YPA was 6.4 to Bryce’s 6.3 so he had just more attempts and an extra game for the extra yardage. % is practically identical through 2 more TDs. Their ratings are identical with Bryce having a worse QBR. Now add in Nix having the more complete roster and much better play caller (despite how much I hate him). They seem pretty similar to me honestly. Keeping all the assets would best part of this scenario but I’d still feel uneasy about our QB situation.

Hitting on a core player in the draft plus our roster actually getting healthy is a huge combo. Looks like we actually have a little depth as well.

Yeah we definitely need some stability and talent on this roster. This recent draft class is showing promise and hopefully we can build on that. I still kind of wish Canales would hire a play caller at this stage in his career.

The price to move up to get a QB in Bryce's draft was cheaper than normal because it was a weak class. Remember the Vikings wanted to trade up with NE for Drake Maye and they declined their offer. So you are still assuming two pretty big things. 1 the team positioned to draft Maye would be willing to move on from the pick (they weren't). 2 is that we would be so sold on him that we would give up a haul to move up.

People overlook this all the time. If we don't make the dumb trade to pick 1 we probably aren't picking the top 5 next year to draft Maye/WIlliams. Getting rid of DJ Moore, throwing in a rookie QB, losing the draft capital etc all helped lead to that top pick the Bears got. The trade is part of the crash/failure.

Ty Simpson isn't tall or a gunslinger. His arm is average, Bama claims he is 6'2" but also claimed Bryce was 6'0". There are concerns about his frame at the next level as well.

Frank won a Super Bowl as an OC. He seems to be an average HC (base on Colts not our poo show), but OC might be where he is best. Who knows?

White plays better defense. I get the feeling Sexton was a little bit of a liability in that area. We also got our 2 2nds back by taking Tyus Jones.

I’m reading OKC gave us a 2nd to take on their player we flipped. So we turned Sexton into White for 2 2nds. White also has a positive offensive rating vs Sexton’s negative.

He would actually be a nice vet to have for a playoff push...
