Yeah Cam is younger than our current starting QB. That’s pretty crazy really. I hate how we shorted his career. He should still be our QB at 35 years old…
-
They are being lazy and having record carry a lot of weight. I mean Meyer couldn’t even finish his season and they finished as the worst team in the league. Saban made it 2 full seasons was a couple games below 500 and left on his own I believe? They both may have been assholes, but one was an asshole who was also terrible at his job.
-
Nick Saban was 15-17 as a NFL HC. Not great but far from the worst ever…

It was from a draft podcast from the athletic last year. There are always exceptions, but TEs usually take the longest from 2-3 years. It wouldn’t really make sense from a Panthers fan perspective as you mentioned we have developed 0 successfully lately.
-
Man I remember he had one game he was electric. I thought it was his coming out party. I was wrong…
-
I mean our best TE really took off year 4 after the Bears traded him for a 3rd after drafting him in the 1st 3 years prior. It’s not a Panthers thing it’s learning to be an OL and WR at the next level. Year 3-4 is typically when TEs starting figuring it out and peaking. Sanders blocking has been bad, but I wouldn’t worry about his drops. He had zero his last year in college. That’s almost certainly a speed of the game thing and will get better with some more live reps. Again 4th rounders and especially TEs usually take time. Hell WRs use to until recently some of these elite ones are taking off right away.
-
Yeah I’m going to disagree with comparing a 4th round TE struggling his first year to a QB we traded up to pick 1 struggling in year 2 after a horrific year 1. Big difference there. A 4th round TE shouldn’t be starting right now. As I already mentioned TE has the longest adjustment period of any position in the NFL. Now throw in Sanders having blocking as a weakness at Texas and we are asking him to do that a lot. Expecting him to contribute meaningful snaps right away was just wishful thinking honestly. You have a “generational” talent in Bowers who is a glorified WR with 300 yards and 1 TD in 5 games.
-
TEs usually take a couple years. Sanders was rushed out before he was ready because Thomas and Tremble were hurt. I’m wiling to give Sanders a while as he is a 4th round TE.

We traded back before we traded up and acquired a future 2nd in the process. It's not like we threw away additional high picks to get him. I think it was a couple 5ths that we just acquired or got back regardless. 5th rounds picks were being written off as not worth our time for AT and DJ earlier. We did however use our 2nd on a player that isn't able to contribute right away and that really hurts with as many holes as we have on this roster. The pick itself was questionable. The trade up part of it was no big deal though. In totality we dropped back some spots and got a 2025 2nd plus Brooks.

Yeah most of you all have been spot on about this. We just aren't good enough to take a player that has to sit a large portion of the season, much less a RB early...

They just traded for Sam Howell and now they get a nice close look at him. I could also see their new HC wanted to draft one to develop while he keeps upgrading his defense which is his bread and butter. I'm just throwing out ideas. People were wanting to extend Dalton a couple games ago and he is even older. A nice 3 year deal for a 35 year old proven QB isn't terrible. It gives us another couple years to find one to learn behind him (I'm think the 26 class might have some good ones). It also lets us use our early draft picks to try to inject some talent in this defense.

Moton has been playing great and is our best OL in a solid group. Depending on the numbers an extension could be a win/win. I hate to let a talented OL walk for nothing. I feel like the cap akways looks good 2 years out. Then we shuffle our roster and it looks rough in the immediate future.
-
The age plus the cap hit makes me think they might release him. If they miss the playoffs and have a higher pick I could see it happening. Maybe they can package him plus a couple firsts for our pick depending on where we both land and draft their QB. Then we can extend him. Who knows? There is still a lot of football left....
-
There is no telling. Extend Moton or backload contracts. There are definitely ways around that. I don't think some are a good idea, but there are possibilities. DJ Wonnum's dead cap is only 625,000? That is interesting too...
-
I keep thinking Geno Smith gets released and we pay for him. We would still need a young guy developing under him though.
-
Yeah I don’t think DC is a QB guru, but I think he has a vision for his QBs and works well with them. I’m with you on Lance having the physical gifts. Yeah if Shanny traded him for pennies on a dollar that’s a huge red flag, but he was a very raw prospect that needed time.
-
Some people won’t like this, but Trey Lance is a FA who will be cheap and is only 24. Maybe sign him as a project QB behind a vet/bridge QB and see what Canales can get out of him? Just throwing out another option and we can just go BPA in the draft
-
Absolutely. He just set an NFL record when they switched him to 3-4. He is great at both though.
-
That’s probably his best fit too. DE in a 3-4 so I’d probably keep it for now. Horn (if he can be relatively healthy) and Brown should be the defensive pieces moving forward looks like Wallace is flashing sone talent too.

6. Carolina Panthers Shedeur Sanders, QB, Colorado "Deion Sanders would never let his son go to the Panthers." This is the time of year when this stuff gets brought up. Yet, it seldom happens. Remember when Caleb Williams was going to avoid the Bears or not sign unless he got team ownership? I'll believe we'll get another Eli Manning situation the next time it actually happens. Instead, knowing there is no real safety net option in free agency, let's take a fresh swing at a young quarterback with Dave Canales. Shedeur Sanders is my early QB1 because of his arm talent and ability to thrive amongst the chaos in the pocket. I'm excited to see how he grows under NFL coaching. From the Draft Network. @CamWhoaaCam @CamWhoaaaCam

Is Canales known to run his QBs? Baker and Geno Smith didn't really run too much?
-
Especially in those late rounds. Big school OL should be added each yeah. I will say that great OL are just hard to come by in general. I'm not sure many teams have great depth there. The good ones can kind of scheme around it when there are injuries. Outside of center our depth is actually decent right now. Zavla looked ok, BC is a good depth player, Yosh is a good swing tackle....
-
Yeah if we extend him it will probably be after his 5th year. Hunt has a friendly opt up after year 3. We need to draft some IOL to learn while these vets are here.
-
That was an overpayment on a FA we just signed. Much similar to DJ now who people are wanting to extend. Icky would be a player we drafted in year 3 of his contract. It’s still early on Icky because we get that 5th year option and some of these other expensive OL might be off the books by then.
