  1. Didn’t we have a post earlier this offseason about most starting QBs in the past 10 years were first round picks abs how hard it is to get one in the later rounds? Also it’s kind of a mute argument as Darnold was also a first rounder...
  2. I think Fields is the closest thing to Watson (off field issues aside) and we were obsessed with Watson, so it makes sense we are intrigued by Fields.
  3. That’s what I think as well. He 2019 (PreCovid) stats and games were stellar. OSU had a ton of issues this past year and played like only 6 games many several key players. I think he is over scrutinized, but I’m not the one making the pick.
  4. Yeah some serious cherry picking lol. Brady won like half since 2010 and then you have older 1st rounders winning. Also Darnold was a first round pick! So I guess he doesn’t have a good chance of winning one...
  5. The second NEXT year is equivalent to a third this year. That’s the major pick. If you want to split hair over a 4th and 6th that’s comp pick territory. What is his cap space this year? $4.7 million. Oh poo never mind then. We can’t afford to lose that kind of money over a QB.
  6. People are acting like we spent 3 first round picks on Darnold. It’s equals a 3rd pick. If we used our third to move up and select Fields or Lance people would be thrilled at how little it cost. If we are lucky and the guy we really like is there at 8, next year’s second shouldn’t stop up from taking him that’s all I’m saying. If we PREFER Darnold over who is there at 8, then everything worked out great.
  7. You mean the team didn’t say “we were desperate to get rid of Teddy, and this guy is pretty much our last option. If a better option presents itself we will take it?” They were inquiring about him early as they were every player. Remember “in on every deal.” If we are going by what the team says “QB is an option” per the GM and coach.
  8. And inquired about Russ in Seattle.
  9. Darnold allows them to take the BPA in their board. If they think that’s a QB...
  10. Josh Allen is a very valid point. I was skeptical of him. Herbert also didn’t light it up and was being used incorrectly.
  11. So you said you couldn’t think of an example and I gave you one. You’ve stated you shouldn’t take a young QB without a good line, I have given you Herbert and the Chargers. The point is there is more than one way to do things. As our GM and coach have stated, QB is still an option, like it or not.
  12. They are professionals and aren’t going to hit a young player while he is down. If Darnold ran his mouth to Sherman, he would tell him how he really feels. I agree though, no one knows until we know. I just think it’s a bit of a reach...
  13. I mean it’s not that hard to grasp. One wins the starting job through competition. The other can develop behind him or get traded (Darnold might be a FA actually) this offseason depending on how it goes. Just because you don’t agree with the pick doesn’t make it silly. Several analyst have posted similar theories. The Jets hung on to Darnold until a better option (Wilson) was a lock. We may do the same. You really don’t think Cousins was developed in Washington? As bad of a franchise as they are, they took him from 4th round pick to starter. They didn’t want to pay him what he got in Minnesota (which might be the right call), but he was still developed.
  14. Or don’t go all in on a QB that has shown TO issues on both the college and professional level, that also has injury concerns, that was traded for the equivalent of a 3rd round pick. Just another school of thought...
  15. Cousins was in the 4th round and Darnold was the equivalent of the 3rd round this year. They were in the same draft which is what you questioned. Griffin was voted to the Pro Bowl, won rookie of the year, had the highest rating and TD to INT record by a rookie before injuring his LCL and ACL. Injuries are hard to predict. Cousins is still a starting QB in this league so I would consider him solid.
  16. I mean he was playing against PAC 12 defenses?? I’m willing to give some benefit of the doubt for the Jets situation, but an elite NFL QB, should be dominate in most college teams despite the circumstances. His turnovers at USC might be the biggest red flag honestly.
  17. Cousins and Griffin on the WFT. Both were solid, Griffin couldn’t stay healthy. Speaking of which, has Darnold ever played a full 16 game season?
  18. If we got a decent haul plus the option to take Slater or Fields at 19, I would be thrilled. Then if we take Farley instead, I might cry...
  19. Not a fan of this. He is 30 years old (same age as Peterson who people believe is getting old) will take a lot of money and probably looks better than he is thanks to Bill’s schemes. I’d much rather get draft capital back.
  20. Baker set the record for rookie TDs, got the Browns their best record since 2007, was runner up to Saquan for rookie of the year. He was definitely looking better than Darnold has so far. Put it this was, they were in the same draft class and there was no way the Browns would trade him for a future 2nd...
  21. I’d say it’s more Tepper wanting us to move on from him than it is Teddy. I think Teddy will play for us or not he is a professional team player kind of guy. It appears Tepper wants him off the team after watching those 4th quarter issues this past year.
  22. You don’t see Horn as one? I haven’t watched a lot of tape on him, but as an Auburn fan he picked off Nix a bunch and shut down Seth Williams.
