  1. That's why I don't think he is hiding it. I mean we sucked just as bad in Week 18 (maybe worse) than we did in Week 1. I don't think having starters get more snaps in preseason was going to change that. People like to point to last year, but we were just bad last year preseason aside. I think he is genuinely trying to see what he has for depth/roster spots. He wants to see if these guys who have little to like live game reps are capable of doing so at a high level.
  2. On a side note the Commanders just signed Bryant. The WR that people on here were crying at us for showing a little interest.
  3. But then he said that he is comfortable making them now right? I've seen him make contested throws even last year. They weren't the bomb passes like people are wanting to see, but that showed off his anticipation and touch which he has in the mid to short passes. I hope we don't have to watch Plummer again for 3 plus quarters. I'm glad to see Clowney showing up against Moton. He need him to show out this year.
  4. I appreciate reading your opinion. You had an extra negative at the end. Looking forward to reading these today!
  5. Thiccer Kicker is about to show out!
  6. I feel like he is always there early and staying late. Working hard for a spot on the roster.
  7. I’m cheering for Matthews to make the team.
  8. Hell if they play average against the Jets DL it’s a win…
  9. It’s irrelevant. They are playing Bryce this year unless he gets hurt. I’m saying QB3 is a random position to rank as it rarely gets used. Also the Ravens and Bengals have dealt with QB injuries yet they still have some random QB3.
  10. So random. Some teams don’t even carry 3 QBs right? I mean look who is around us…. Eagles, Ravens, Bengals, Chiefs.
  11. It's just all about value IMO. If you have a spot at QB3 and a QB you had ranked has dropped to a lower round vs other positions, I'm all for it. If we had a 4th round round on Milton and he is sitting there in the 6th for us, I'd be more than ok with drafting him. Same goes for most positions though.
  12. I think you are talking about starters specifically. He is saying a lot of these late round guys are good special team players for us. QB3 is probably not seeing the field at all outside of preseason. Sorry to interrupt, but both of you two have great points I think you are both talking about different situations though. I will say this. With the 17 game and now possibly 18 game season, backup QBs are becoming more important because there is a high chance they will be playing a game or two. That probably makes the QB3 more important than in recent history.
  13. I'd be a little cautious though. They were playing against guys that might not make our team and our depth sucks. Zappe should have picked them apart given his experience. Milton hit a nice open WR with about 4 seconds in the pocket, he almost threw a pick 6 too. I wouldn't be championing for their QBs so soon. I would imagine Zappe is the odd man out and I'm not sure if he brings much to us as QB3. A higher upside QB would make more sense. The Pats QBs are just the Huddle's crush of the week.
  14. Yeah it's hard to keep the positive energy when the losses are piling up. Hopefully we get some wins early and the players start feeding off his energy.
  15. Nothing that I saw last night shows otherwise. Also he was incredible slow with his progressions. I felt like it took him a good 2 seconds to throw at it wide open check down one play.
  16. Makes sense with a first year HC as well who is inheriting a chunk of a roster he had nothing to do with. I saw a bunch of new faces and some guys that barely played the previous season last night. I'm sure he is evaluating the depth which will help him make decisions on claims for other players when teams start making their cuts. He wants to see some of these players in live action in order to make a better decision sooner vs later.
  17. To see if they make the team or get replaced/cut when teams start trimming down their roster. A lot of the guys last night didn't play much last year or weren't on the roster. He seems to be concerned about out depth and rightfully so. Here is how he answered it. The bad news is (maybe it's just coach speak) he is talking about going over the film with Plummer like we are keeping him around... Q: Dave, obviously, not playing your starters was a conscious decision. How do you evaluate the game as a whole knowing you kind of went in shorthanded that way? DC: Oh, I think just valuable reps, right? For these guys, the opportunity to play this many snaps in a preseason game for the guys that were up for this game, it's invaluable. Jack Plummer getting out there; he had a rough night but it was just such – it's his first NFL game, and hopefully, we'll get to the point where we can show him the film and just kind of show him, 'Hey man, trust your preparation, trust your timing from practice,' and just to stay composed as the game goes along. He was able to put a good drive together, but then we had the grounding penalty that kind of kicked us out of that advantageous field position that we had. So, I just love the opportunity it gives for a lot of the guys for us to evaluate them.
  18. He mentioned counting on certain guys and limiting injuries. That's saying 2 things. One the starters probably aren't playing and two our depth is not very good. There really isn't much deception knowing QB1 won't play and QB2 is hurt. QB3 was going to play most of this game and it was no secret. Imagine Plummer throwing a hospital ball for Johnson in this game and him getting hurt. I'm hoping/guessing we see the starters for some series in game 3 when the OL is a little more stable and needing time to gel. I mean we all know Bryce is going to play this year. It doesn't make sense for DC to be scared to play him in a preseason game because he knows how bad he will look. Everyone is going to see him during the regular season when defenses will play all of their starters and have 100%% of their playbook opened up.
  19. He struggled reading the field in UT's wide open offense. There was a big drop off form Hooker to Milton. Milton will look amazing in practice, but I'm not sure he will find success as a NFL starter reading starting defenses in the NFL. That was the most I've seen him run though, so maybe he is getting comfortable doing that now which will help him early on in his career.
