I wanted Stroud too. I think that is part of the frustration for some of the fans that wanted him. Seeing him have his instant success and becoming a top QB so quickly. I'm also an Auburn fan so I'm far from a die hard Bryce guy. Last season what just such a cluster, it's really hard for me to critique anyone on offense. Icky, Mingo, and hopefully Bryce should be instantly better by having a decent staff around them. To what degree is anyone's guess. I'm with you though early results show a possibility of hope, but I'm not looking too much into preseason.

What are you even rambling on about? Mahomes had a YPA last year of 7. He will absolutely take what the defense gives him. Sure he will occasionally do things outside the box, but that's not something coaches want replicated. Don't try to make your QB be the unicorn that is Mahomes. Also there was no BIG chance here. Johnson is like 15 yards away from the LOS in the freeze frame and Bryce is already moved on the AT ready to throw to his open read. Yes Bryce needs to take some deep shots when called for. This was simply not the case. If a WR is open past the marker and you see it, you better throw that pass ASAP. Running around and trying to play hero ball when it isn't needed is dumb. A majority of plays will be these quick mid to short passes and deep shots should be calculated when needed. Being called a hater is tiring and I bet those with genuine skepticism get tired of being lumped into it with people who are not being reasonable.

Right. You are a definite skeptic which is fine and mostly warranted. At least you can admit when he does a decent job. I think you and most of the skeptics would love for Bryce to play great and be the answer, you all just don't see it. I can understand that. This very select few aren't going to be happy or impressed if he does IMO. For the record I don't think @45catfanis one either. I think he is just critiquing for the heck of it.
-
The point is there was no need for it. He had a guy wide open right in front of him going with his momentum. For the record, critques like this on a clearly positive play where he hits his open read for a first down are what make terms like "hater" get thrown around.

If he makes this throw across his body against the direction he is running it is still not that deep of a pass. Looking at where Moton is standing Johnson isn't quite 15 yards away from the LOS. The AT catch was a 21 yard pass. I'm not sure this has anything to do with him timid about taking deep passes or worried about NFL open being too tight. He threw to the open read for a first following the momentum of his rollout.

He looked more comfortable but still had some happy feet which is understandable after last year. The question is will he continue to look this way when defensive coordinators start dialing in pressure. I hope so.
-
Yeah me too. If a guy is wide open for a first down you take it. This is a “pattern” that Im ok with continuing…

I think Reich played him way before he was ready. If I remember correctly, he was injured in most of TC so he missed a lot of reps then thrown into the starting lineup after week 1. I think he looked decent his first game but fell apart after that. He had that scary injury where he landed on top of his head too. Had to be carted off. Just a rough rookie year.

It's nice to see our HC and OC adapting and calling plays to our players strengths. Hopefully they can keep this up in the regular season.

2 of Willis’s 4 passes were TDs. That’s pretty solid…

XL has been hurt since August 4th. Before that he tweaked his hamstring. He was just able to get some reps in practice last week. Naturally he isn’t with the 1s yet. So let’s stop with this he isn’t with the ones, the coaches never got him reps with the ones nonsense please. I expect him to take Mingo’s spot in the outside and Mingo to start taking snaps from AT in the slot (his natural position) when it’s all said and done. Try to have a little patience. I know it’s hard because we have been bad for a while now.

Oh I’m not saying they are GOAT status. I’m saying it nice to have some decent depth for a change. We have a swing tackle and OG who are capable starters. Center is still a bit of a question mark, but I can understand someone having optimism about our OL for a change.

Yosh logged plenty of snaps as LT for the Packers. I’m not researching much info, but from what I’ve heard he was serviceable as a starter. That sounds like a decent piece for depth. BC is proven to be a capable starter too. The thought is our backups holding their own against a stronger roster’s backups in Buffalo is promising. Yeah it’s only preseason though so I’m sure Buffalo was running some vanilla defense.

Dumb ass David…

It looks to me like he was getting low to make the catch and then sees Johnson at the last minute and stumbles to get out of the way. He broke his route to track down the ball not realizing it was for DJ.

You are right no doubt. It’s also why we keep cycling through staffs. This is a new one and hopefully we have one that can do it. Something about a blind squirrel finding a nut?

Lol dental appointments would be funny. I’m thinking it’s probably sick family member or possibly death in the family when they don’t say why. I’ve seen some have off for birth of a child, but they usually say it because it’s an exciting time.

Lol yeah those can make Smith seem like a saint. IMO he was just a super competitive, maybe to a fault, player. I’m sure Brady and Jordan weren’t particular nice to teammates going against them in practice or teammates struggling.

We just need a staff that can actual develop players. Hopefully this one can.
-
I was kind of thinking he made a decent leap today in progress. I still might prefer a higher ceiling QB3 if one becomes available... PS shouldn't be a problem though.

Imagine if we can get this running game going our coach is insisting on. Throw in come PA rollouts and the defense could be on skates. I like seeing some actual vision on offense. Hopefully it can come to life.
-
Hasn’t he been hurt? He was DTD for a while and finally started getting some reps in practice this week I thought? He had a bruised bone in his foot from like early August. Give him a minute to get adjusted and I think he will be fine. I like having him and Sanders as deep threat weapons.

Love the PA rollout play design. The preseason offense looks much more creative than Reich’s regular season offense.
