RUMOR: Bryce Young 'pissed' at being benched for Andy Dalton
ForJimmy replied to FutureDynasty's topic in Carolina Panthers
He should be. Regardless it was the right call. He should be pissed at himself. Hopefully it fuels him to get better, but I just don’t know how much better he can get. -
If we took AD instead of XL this year we could draft Ewers to complete the collection of Texas players with Brooks and JT Sanders.

Albert Breer in SI: Benching Bryce Young Was Not a Rash Decision
ForJimmy replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hell Burrow has been abused, sure he gets injured but when he is healthy he is right back at it. Cam got hit so many times it shortened his career. If getting sacked breaks you then maybe you shouldn't get paid millions of dollars to be a QB. -

If you are capable of getting Carr'ed, you aren't going to make it long in the league anyway. Hits and pressure are just part of it. Some years your OL is going to get banged up, you are going to play through injuries etc. It's a big boy league and it's a tough position to play. -
Too much of a run liability. DB isn't there to take on double/triple teams so we need every bit of help on run defense we can get. DJ Johnson has actually played decent. Corbet is killing it at center BTW. That is one pleasant surprise...

Ward is fun, but needs to keep his TOs down this year. I've read he kind of holds on to the ball too long too. I want to see how Allar develops as he reminds me a little of Herbert. I also want to see more of Moss Miller as he has looked decent so far. I keep hearing Dart, but I haven't looked much into him as I thought Mississippi kind of runs a gimmicky offense. -

Who do you like so far in the 25 class? -

I don't think it would make him a quitter. Even IF he still thinks he can help Bryce, sitting him is the best way to do it. He was getting worse out there shell shocked. It's the right call for Bryce and more importantly it's the right call for the team. Canales has to develop a team above everything else not just one player. -

If Bryce did get David Carr'ed then he wasn't the answer in the first place. Franchise QBs have to be resilient. I don't think the good ones are capable of getting David Carr'ed. -
Sanders is a good QB. I just don't think he is a good teammate and Prime already said there are teams his son won't play for. What are the odds we are one of those teams?
-
Plus Geno would be familiar with the system we are running.
-
Say Seattle misses the playoff. I could see them releasing Geno. He would just be a birdge QB for a couple years. I don't want to trade for anyone. Free Agents or use one draft pick on one. Seattle just traded for Howell so he probably won't come cheap and if he does that's a red flag as two teams traded him off in two years.
-
He is making a lot of money next year (his last year) and they have a very friendly out. They just traded for Howell so they might want to see what he can do plus Geno is 34 now.
-
How about this. If Seattle cuts Geno we sign him as a bridge and draft a project like Donovan Smith in the later rounds to develop and learn for a while. Then we can evaluate and look at that 26 class with Nico and Arch? This gives us some stability in Geno and a young QB to watch develop while we wait on our move.

I mean DC and Morgan have created a nice OL for him that is creating a nice pocket. He has WRs running open and we are left with an unwatchable performance. It wasn't just missing a couple throws, it looked like he is unable to play within the structure of a typical offense. You can't fix that whether people believe DC is a QB whisperer or not. I think he looked over the film and saw the locker room's reaction and knew there is no need to trying to continue to force this. Maybe Bryce can win them back over (I doubt it) and get another chance, or maybe Dalton gets hurt and Bryce gets a shot for redemption, but I think this story is over and the staff knows it.
-
Icky has played pretty solid so far this year. He had a streaky sophomore season in a new scheme, but he might be good when it’s all said and done. Honestly our OL as a whole looks decent so far…
-
Nico is legit but that would be counting on us to have pick 1 or 2 in the 26 draft. I don’t want to trade up again so it’s quite a gamble.
-
Yeah pick 5 would be a breath of fresh air and less embarrassing on draft day. We won't have to see charts of what all we gave up for a player than got benched and is already being replaced. I'd love pick 5 vs pick 1.... It would also show a trend in the right direction.
-
Yeah my crazy theory is Canales, Morgan, and Tillis watched the film and read the locker room. They saw a team giving up on a player and frustrated with his production. Seems like a pretty easy decision from there...
-
That's good. We need to develop all of our young players and if we end up the 5th to worst team it will be productive and we will still get a premium pick. 5th might be about right to draft TMac like you want also.

I’m kind of liking him as a HC

Bryce Young faced the least pressure of any quarterback this week
ForJimmy replied to TN05's topic in Carolina Panthers
Hey right now the Rams are 0-2 with Kupp and Puka injured. Plus I think their OL is banged up. Maybe they have a horrible year? -

There aren't many good vets available. Right now I'm in trade down or premium pick and possibly draft whoever falls to round 2 if a decent QB does. Honestly for a vet and people are going to probably not like this idea, but Mac Jones could be serviceable behind our OL with a good running game if we go the vet route...
