Plummer honestly isn’t better. Unless the sign another vet here soon or trade Bryce, I can definitely see him playing again.

Houston has a high ceiling QB that could be developed. @MHS831 has been high on him.

I’d like a bridge QB like Geno Smith and draft a Cam Ward type player. I want to see how Drew Allar plays this year as well. The big thing is letting whoever we draft (if we draft one) sit for a while and learn. Also the season is still very early. Miller Moss is still unknown at this point and his coach knows how to develop QBs.

Blaming ownership on “giving up” on Bryce seems wrong to me as well. They hired a full staff late year dedicated to developing a QB, fired them and brought in a new HC with experience belong QBs, overpaid for a massive OL to protect him, traded for DJ, drafted a WR in round 2 last year and 1 this year and his play got worse. When you have players blowing up on the sidelines, commentators taking about how the opposing defense knows the deep ball isn’t an option, you owe it to your fans and team to make a change. I mean it was historically low numbers for a starting QB who looked lost. Benching Bryce helps himself as well. It clearly wasn’t getting better at this moment.

Oh I’m not saying he plays any better but unless he is traded away, he is probably playing again. Hopefully better but it hasn’t looked promising.

But what happens if our older vet QB gets hurt? Bryce is QB2 right now. He is more than likely playing again before the season is over IMO.

When the team is showing frustration in how bad the QB is on the field you have to step in. AT who is usually pretty chill was blowing up on the sidelines. Forcing Young back out there would be mishandling him and the whole team. Even if they still think Young can turn it around, you have to bench him for now. It’s the right call and I swear some of the people aren’t even watching the games before they make these takes. Love Cam but I don’t think he is really following us that closely lately.

If Manning is putting up crazy numbers I doubt they pull him. I understand Ewers is the experienced vet and I am sure they will keep Manning on a short leash knowing Ewers is behind him.

They beat the Bengals, lost to the Seahawks by 3, have what appears to be a promising young HC, and two physical talented QBs developing on their bench. Sure they need some OL and weapons, but I’d trade places with them in a heartbeat….

He does later mention his morning workouts and there are videos of him working out with ISM and later TMJ with Mingo. It was a dumb quote/comment for him to make and doesn’t help his case but he definitely worked out over the offseason. At the end of the day it didn’t really matter.

Darnold is fine until he has to play off script. Mentally he just doesn’t have what the great ones do. If he can play within the structure of a friendly offense and know his reads ahead of time he typically looks good. That makes him a top tier backup/lower end bridge QB in this league IMO.
