  1. RB committees are how the league works now. It's part of the reason they have been undervalued. We are freaking out over a 8 million dollar a year contract. 7 years ago Stewart signed a 1 year $8 million dollar contract with us.
  2. I just showed you the top 10 guys. They all are getting paid decent minus the Niners situation. The Texans running game sucked last year so they trade for Mixon and then paid him and it looks much better now.
  3. You would think we would have more salary to add players like RBs since we aren't paying out a QB. If you can build a roster similar to Detroit I'd go for it. I don't think that is the plan though. I think we are building a young offense that can really help a young QB rookie or whoever we go with. A big expensive OL, strong stable of RBs, big targets in JT, XL, and Coker etc... Yeah we need defense too, but we really need to get healthy on defense and see what we are working with.
  4. Apparently the Niners can and other teams that were already mentioned like the Cowboys and Texans could not. The Niners also make QBs look better and WR looks better. I mean should we wait and get a QB in the 7th because the Niners have Purdy playing well? I'd say they are more of an outlier team when it comes to offensive positions and success. Top 10 RBs in yards Henry, Barkley, Jacobs, Mason, Hubbard, Conner, Kamara. Gibbs, Robinson, and Pollard. Most of these guys are paid decent contracts with the Niners player being the outlier.
  5. So are we in the "good teams don't do this phase" or is it "we aren't a good enough team to do this?" A strong running game is a good way to get a weaker roster looking better quickly IMO. Try to control the clock and TOP to speed up the game. It's also a great way to get a young QB comfortable more quickly in the league. Again we are talking about 15 million guaranteed over 4 years....
  6. I keep thinking it's looking like a better and better spot for a young QB to land looking at the offense.
  7. The Niners RB room is waaaaaaaaay more pricey than ours. CMC is $19 million by himself. Before the injuries people liked what the Niners were building. People love what the Lions are building and they are locking in their RBs, a 1st rounder and a vet they just extended. The assets allocated to our RB room aren't that crazy honestly.
  8. We need a center still. BC is driving his price up if he keeps showing he can play LT as well in this league. A starting center, 3rd WR (vet), and someone to learn behind Moton (maybe come in during jumbo packages) should finish out the offense aside from depth and of course the most important position (QB).
  9. But it's not a plug and play like teams were thinking. Ask the Cowboys and the Bears thinking they were fine letting Montgomery walk. Ask the Texans who had to trade for Mixon because their backfield held them back. @Bear Handsbroke down the top running teams in the league and they have a very similar allocated of money/investments in the RB room. It's a $15 million guaranteed contract over 4 years. IF we are paying him the full 32 then he is playing very well and earning 8 plus million a year over 4 years. I don't think we are doing the starter/backup scenario. Our OC even said he has plays featuring both backs in the backfield. We are trying to be a RB committee with a RB room that isn't that expensive compared to the league average. IF Chuba plays to his top potential and we pay out all money he will average between Stevenson and Swift's average salary.
  10. Again Brooks playing well wasn't changing our opinion on Hubbard. We want a 1, 2 punch.
  11. Yeah they must have REALLY wanted him. What did they give up for him?? Last I checked he was practicing punt returns...
  12. What you don't understand is that IF Brooks is legit, you still need Chuba. It's not a 3 down back league anymore. Good teams use committees. @Bear Handsjust broke down the top offenses and how they have addressed running the ball. People are just angry because they are mad at the organization (understandably). This move is no big deal at all.
  13. Johnson went to the league leader in Passing and Rushing. They are literally the top offense in the league. If he DOESN'T "ball" out he is going to have a hard time landing a decent contract. Sounds like Lamar has been doing just fine without him...
  14. We won twice as many games this year as with Chuba as we did with Johnson and you wanted us to extend Johnson?
  15. When was he "bum" Chuba?? Two years ago he averaged 4.9 yards a carry vs his 5.0 this year. Last year he was making something out of nothing every play with teams stacking the box. He always just needed more touches and now we have a decent OL for him.
  16. He won't get many carries at first. I like his potential though even if it was a dumb decision to draft him where we did including his recovery time.
  17. Miles is gone after this year and we will save money cutting him. He isn't part of the equation at this point.
  18. People need to look at the guaranteed money. If he is playing great then yeah he gets just over 8.3 a year. If he has a decline it was a 15 total guarantee. I’d like to see how it’s structured…
  19. So only 15 of it is fully guaranteed. Not too bad at all. Hell 2 years ago he was average 4.9 a carry and last year he was making something out of nothing every play. We clearly want to be a running team with our pricey guards and RBs.
  20. If I had to guess, I’d say we are trying to copy the Lions with Gibbs and extending Mont. We are at a different stage of the roster building though.
  21. Say what you will about DC, but he definitely isn’t handling Bryce with kid gloves. I know many people on here wanted this.
  22. XL has a TD in 3 of his last 4 games. He actually has improved quite a bit as a blocker as well. Aside from him and Coker (who you said is developing) that leaves Mingo who we just shipped off. The other WRs are veterans. JT is also starting to get comfortable in the offense, but his blocking still needs work. Yeah Tepper pushed for Young but you were hinting at him being a big RAS guy. I do agree though in we absolutely have to hit on these next few drafts. Our top pick this year HAS to be a franchise cornerstone if we want to get out of this mess…
  23. They certainly didn’t use the RAS score when trading up for Bryce. All teams are going to use it to a degree. It helps judge where a player’s ceiling could be. You just can’t ignore other factors too, especially important ones like film/game tape.
  24. One was pick 39 vs pick 72. Wallace has actually showed some promise as well getting over 10 tackles in each of his first couple starts. Also Brugler was high on him who I have more faith in than most scouts. You can’t ignore athletic ability as it should be part of the equation and I’m good with gambling on mid to late picks especially ones that were originally going to sit a year like Wallace was before Shaq went down. https://x.com/Marcus_Mosher/status/1778057337275555970
