  1. In their defense Johnson is a much more talented WR than Robbie was… Robbie was a one trick pony. Johnson is good at the whole route tree. However I do understand the point you are making. Any WR that looks halfway decent we want to throw money at.
  2. He has been, but I'd like to see it against some decent CBs.
  3. Yeah and Burns wasn't worth 30 million a year but some dumb team paid him it. These contracts get larger and larger each yeah and if he thinks he is a WR1 (which he does) he will want his money. If we can sign him for $20 million or less, I'd be all for it. I just don't see him agreeing to that...
  4. So you want to pay him #1 WR money knowing he isn't one because he is getting open in an offense that is known to get WRs open? You are willing to lock in $30 million a year on him?
  5. I'm leaning towards sending DJ and AT to the highest bidder if (when) we only have a couple wins at the trade deadline. Get Coker some more playing time and David Moore can be our vet. The name of the game this year is to develop our young pieces (XL, Mingo, JT, Brooks, Wallace etc).
  6. He broke 1000 yards once in his career. Sure he looks good in comparison to Mingo and our rookie XL. I do think that DC's offense is pretty WR friendly. I just know he is going to want to be paid a lot. I'm not against it but we have a lot of holes to fill....
  7. The only problem is some will just opt to play another year and get NIL money if they aren't going to be a top pick. For example I find Allar intriguing, but he is only a junior and will just play another year if he isn't projected as a 1st rounder IMO...
  8. I'm ok with this as long as we bring on some legit competition. A younger player with some upside to get behind a bridge QB plus Bryce. We need a Plan B and C because the odds are stacked against him right now.
  9. Howell reminds me a lot of Baker. I feel like Canales' offense would work well with him. Too bad Seattle just traded for him or I'd be tempted to throw a lower pick to acquire him.
  10. Sorry you definitely aren't wrong. The problem is our offense isn't some star loaded offense either. The acquisition cost to acquire Young skews the draft picks quiet a but plus if you go back a couple years earlier we went all in on defense. That class should be carrying us as vets right now. To me the dead cap hit and the assets used on Bryce are neutering this roster right now. We paid out some OL this offseason too so yeah the defense is getting neglected this past couple years. I just don't think they are much worse that last year's defense, just have a lot more injuries. TLDR version you are right! Plus several other factors.
  11. In the past Jewell is a 100 plus tackles player in Evero's defense. He hasn't looked like it this year so far and he also got hurt already...
  12. Yeah we paid out for our OL. Dalton is cheap, Chuba is cheap, our weapons are cheap, Young is on a rookie contract. Hunt and Moton are eating a chunk of our salary, but honestly the $51 million in dead cap is what is making everything out of wack. Moton is making a lot because we pushed his money back, we paid out for Hunt, and just paid DB (earned money).
  13. I think we draft an edge early (if not our first pick) to pair with Clowney his final year. Wallace will be one LB and we either use Jewell his last year or try to sign another one. I'm curious to see how Dane Jackson looks as Morgan has been high on him and we can keep him through 2025 if he looks decent. We absolutely need depth and every position. I doubt it can be fixed in one offseason.
  14. Again this isn't gutting a defense during the offseason. We replaced Burns with Clowney, YGM with Wonnum, paid out to retain DB, signed Dane Jackson to replace Dante, signed Fuller to replace Bell, signed Jewell to replace Luvu. Half of those are considered upgrades. The draft is going to be skewed because we traded up and went all in on a QB. We wanted to rent a defense in FA and build an offense. Clearly it didn't work...
  15. Icky is actually playing well this year. I’m not sure I’d move on from him yet…
  16. To those who are staring we “gutted” the defense. Do you think Burns is much better than Clowney? Is Dante Jackson much better than Mike? That just leaves Luvu who we tried to retain but he wanted to play for Quinn. We tried to replace him with Jewell. Luvu was decent but I don’t think losing him “gutted” our defense. It’s two things IMO. 1. Our defense was overrated last year. Our offense couldn’t score so most teams just ran down the clock after they got a decent lead. 2. Our defense had little depth and is banged up. DB was our foundation piece and our run defense can’t rebound without him. Dane Jackson was penciled at CB2 before he was hurt, Wonnum should be a capable starter, Tuttle has missed the last couple games (that’s 2/3 of our DL), Fuller had missed the last couple games, and now both Shaq and Jewell are hurt. That’s over half our starters on a team with little depth.
  17. No more trading away picks. Just keep developing JT Sanders…
  18. DB being out deflated our defense even more than it was. Hopefully some young guys will look serviceable and give us something to build on for when he comes back next year.
  19. Our cap is going to be tight next year. Corbs and Horn’s contract are coming due, plus do we let DJ walk? Vet edges are pretty pricey…
