Ewers and Sanders are basically the same size? Both 6’2” 220-215.

So the defense gets a pass due to injuries and lack of talent. The offense has a rookie WR, 4th round rookie TE, undrafted rookie WR, and David Moore all getting significant playing time and is running through Andy Dalton who at his peak was a decent QB, but those days are in his past. This season was about seeing if Young could develop, which he regressed so now we are trying to develop some of our young skill players. We aren’t going to put up 40 plus points a game though which is what was needed the last few games. I can’t look at this last game and blame our offense.

What Do You Think About Our Rookies Thus Far?
ForJimmy replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
That list is pretty meh though… -
100%. You have to let these guys attempt to build something before you toss them aside for the next new guy to fix. It’s going to take a while.

I’d add McCord from Syracuse. He has them at 5-1 and is 3rd in the NCAA in passing. He is a strong armed pocket passer and doing all of this at Syracuse.

I think it is going to take most coaches a minute to get us out of this mess. One year isn’t going to show much. I’d at least give him another offseason and see if we are looking better in year 2. Many coaches look bad their first year. Especially if they inherit a mess like the Panthers. You have to have a little patience and now keep starting over every year.

A better defensive roster keeps games closer. It’s how we got our two wins under Reich. We don’t have anywhere near a good enough offensive roster to win shootouts playing with the league’s worst defense. People can’t expect Andy Dalton to score 40 points a game to win these games. Jags defense looks pretty bad too BTW. Their roster isn’t much better than ours either.

Keep firing coaches every year and your roster will keep getting gutted and the cap will stay tight. Let these guys actually try to build a roster the way they want to and see if it works. Hopefully we get some talented players along the way to fall back on. Morgan I’m indifferent on since he was working with Fitt. I like Tillis and Canales is new to this poo show. I’m willing to give him some time and try to build a roster.

It helps when you look at context. For example our defense scored against the Vikings last year. Which was our only TD, now you go look at the Lions game where the scores came late against prevent defenses. We never won like we did against Oakland in simply dominating another team. Honestly our wins last year were thanks to Evero and our kicker. So far I like how XL, JT, and Coker are developing. We need that more than anything. We also are riddled with injuries this year. I’m good with waiting out Canales for a while…

Frank wasn’t a first time HC. He was an old vet. I’m more patient with a new guy who appears much less stubborn. I don’t have to see WR screen to AT over and over while listening to defenders tell the press they knew our plays and just sat on the routes.

You need the top pick AND a college QB to really separate himself from the rest. I don’t really see one as a clear QB1. Jags wanted to do this the year after drafting TLaw but no one traded and they took a pass rusher. If that’s the case then I don’t want the top pick. I’d rather not be the worse team for a year.

He has a strong arm too. I don’t know how mobile he is though.
-
Sadly yes. Even with his dumb drops Thomas is a solid blocker and Sanders just isn’t ready yet. Haynes is honestly a decent rotational pass rusher. If Clowney can’t go, I don’t know who we even have at edge, DJ Johnson and????

So Hunter is hurt again? It’s like maybe he shouldn’t be on the field for every snap on offense and defense…
-
Tennessee just had a risky 4th down conversion inside their own 20.
-
If he had his mullet they would have won by 32
-
Ewers needs his mullet back
-
I’m pretty sure both Ewers and Manning have 2 INTs in the season and Manning played less games vs weaker competition. Ewers is a good QB and will be fine. Just a little rust starting off.
-
This is a popular take. He will be the first to tell you his worst hits and injuries happened IN the pocket. Our lack of OL plus constantly asking Cam to play hero ball on 3rd and long shortened his career.

Yeah I think we take a late round raw prospect this year and sign a bridge FA. Just keep building this bad roster in the draft. If Allar enters the draft (I doubt he will) I wouldn’t be against taking him in rounds 2/3.

I wish it was back helmet, blue jersey, black pants, blue socks. This combo is interesting though. If we can’t win we better look good losing damn it!

So Cal QBs. The other one is DJU. Anyone want to try him out??

It was in the 2023 draft podcast by the Athletic. There have been other articles as well. I actually go this info from another person on a Discord site. We drafted him thinking he would sit behind Thomas and Tremble for a minute. Look how bad Zavala looked last year when we rushed him out vs this year. Honestly, just thinking about it we probably should line Sanders out like a WR and let him play to his strengths, learn that and get settled before pulling him in for these blocking assignments. I know we had to do it out of necessity, but yeah he is struggling right now.

TEs are definitely more of a weapon now but that doesn't really counter my point of them taking time to develop. Yeah there are exceptions with the elite ones, but we are talking about a 4th rounder here. Look at last year's class, LaPorta did amazing (he was the exception), Kincaid was meh, Mayer didn't do much, Musgrave didn't do much, Shoonmaker didn't do hardly anything, Strange has like 9 targets, and these were all drafted in rounds 1-2. We have to be realistic with these players in regards to where they were drafted. Expecting a 4th round TE to start right away and look good do it isn't realistic... If Sanders develops into a solid starter than that would be a huge success for a 4th round TE.
