  1. I’m not sure they keep Darnold regardless. They seemed high on JJ before he got injured. They also seem to have a QB friendly roster and HC. I don’t think Sam is done future star, just stating he can read a defense with the right coaching and system. I don’t see what the same can’t happen for Fields.
  2. Yeah but regardless, KO has him playing better football. Even if he has a bad game every so often he is showing he can go through reads and make good decisions. He is showing it is possible with him under the right conditions. JJ helps a ton obviously.
  3. I think he has grown up a lot since then. Didn’t complain about being traded and now is being mature about being benched for Russ.
  4. Darnold has certainly learned to read the field better. You just have to build around your QB once you are confident in him.
  5. Jewell will replace Cherelus when he comes back. He is actually listed at the starter with Wallace on the depth chart with Shaq being out. We have a LILB and a RILB on our traditional and yeah I know we use nickel a lot but I've seen all kinds of hybrid schemes. For example Wallace and Cherelus saw plenty of playing time together this past game. Don't get me wrong, if we replace Jewell I won't be mad, like I said he is just an average starter. We just already have him under contract for the next few years and have a lot more pressing needs IMO. https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/depth/_/name/car
  6. He has a no trade clause right? He can just veto the trade…
  7. He had a 88 and 77 rating his two full seasons playing under Evero in Denver. Yeah he turns 30 in December so he’ll be 32 when we are done with him. That’s about right for letting him walk. Looking at his rating in the 4 games he played on a new team that’s struggling isn’t the best way to judge him. Hell even his 58 is showing in the yellow. So average at his position even with all the crap around him. Again he is nothing special but I think he is an average starter in this league which is something we are missing at a lot more positions. Personally I’d look to replace him before his last year like we are doing with Shaq. We just have so many needs right now…
  8. I agree with all except Wallace replacing Jewell. Both ILB positions in this scheme seem pretty interchangeable. Shaq is done for the year. When Jewell returns I’d bet it’s him and Wallace at the ILB spots since they are the best of the group.
  9. I think most are hybrids as you stated they are in nickel most of the time. Clowney for example can be an edge or a 4-3 DE. It just depends on how he is lined up.
  10. I’d take a late OL pick every year. They have higher success rates. Even if we draft one earlier. I don’t think Jewell is ok IR. I think he is DTD. I’m all for depth though. A backup LB sure, just don’t bank on him replacing a solid starter.
  11. Personally I wouldn’t worry about it in the immediate future. Use a late pick for OL depth, a RB2, a project QB etc all fall before trying to upgrade a player who is starting on most rosters.
  12. Yeah Jewell is nothing special but he is a seasoned vet who typically gets 100 plus tackles and we signed him to a 3 year deal. No need to waste an asset in trying to upgrade him with so many other needs. Let him help Wallace develop and fill holes elsewhere.
  13. We have Wallace and Jewell next year? Unless you are talking about edge/olb. I’d agree that edge is a top need but that lines up for with 4-3 DEs to me.
  14. Stroud has the safest best with a high ceiling as well. AR was a swing for the fences gamble. Stroud was the clear choice after what we gave up for the pick. We couldn’t afford to miss like we did.
  15. IF we can sign DJ for $10 million a year then I'm down. He is a good WR2 and gives us a weapon that doesn't need any developing.
  16. They just drafted 6 QBs in the first last year. They are going to keep getting overdrafted in the near future.
  17. I’m good with trading back and I’m also good with BPA
  18. This is accurate but 1st round QBs have a higher chance of being good. Rodgers, Allen, Tua, Jackson, Burrow, Stroud, Lawrence, Mahomes, Herbert, (possibly Daniels), Goff, Love, Darnold, Baker, Murray, and Stafford were all 1st rounders. Which is 16 of the current starters and are decent QBs. That doesn't include Williams, Nix, Maye, Richardson and Penix who the jury is still out on. The problem is they will always be overdrafted, so you have to find a real diamond in the rough to get one later. Yeah a lot of these guys have switched from their original teams, but they are all talented QBs drafted in the first round.
  19. The value of his investment is growing every year. Yeah he wants to win, but I don't think he is as miserable as everyone thinks he is about it. The best for us fans is for him to find something that works and get lucky with a GM/HC hire like the 49ers owner did.
  20. All of that plus the punt block.
  21. I think we only get the comp based on how many FAs we sign. With out roster, I'd assume we sign enough FAs to not get a comp for any player we let walk.
  22. I believe Tepper wanted Fields in the draft
  23. Oh I agree he is still pretty raw, but you said he wasn’t the QB coach of either QB. I was just saying that was his job title when Geno signed with Seattle.
