Panthers Confidential - A Look Into the Panthers Offseason
Basbear replied to DeSim's topic in Carolina Panthers
I like tepper the most with his " BEST OFFER!, ONLY THE BEST OFFER!!"....."Dont call with negative point offers" . Shame on anyone saying he doesnt care and/or his focus is on soccer/else where. I need that two hands up Rhule cerebration. Please -
My angle is he felt bad about early retire and had to do something as good faith. I can not help to think what this team with him still manning the middle. Playoffs last year and this...maybe even no TB SB too.... He still stuck the panthers high dead cap via the Herniay special....
-
I showed over the cap and sportac. Over shows Boston is the only 2022 dead cap(thats off/wrong) . Sportac shows nothing as the picture shows at 2022 dead cap players (0).

Teddy on Joe Brady (In response to prior comments on practice)

Could you be talk into backup Yeddy?? -

sportac- I viewed it days ago and they still did not have Reddick, Paradis, or Boston dead cap hits for 2022. Over the cap only shows Tre Boston for 5.33 dead cap and thats wrong as well. Click the year 2022 to see. Reddick signed a 5 yr deal with 4 years voided to lower this years cap hit. All four years hit next year and its dead space cause the contract is voided, he could re-sign. Paradis added 3-4 years as well and lowered his 2021 cap munber, same as Reddick they void and all hit next year. Boston was a 2021 Post june cut, it allows to spread the dead cap over two years. Click the players to see for yourself, my numbers are rough. I just didnt want people to get a false sense that panthers have nearly 60 million in space, when they truly are closer to 40. I watched before free agency and the panthers had over 100+ million in space for 2022, but finesser borrowed about 50 million form that to use this year on free agents. I believe out of everyone signing no cap hit is above 4+/- million. Fox was the highest at one point at 2.75, before Jones signed. Even AJ only hits for 2.2 this year. Nearly all rocket up in 2022 in cap number terms.

Need to bump some of those threads. Best I can remember is I did not agree with Teddy, but understand if the staff wanted him. I know I said a few times, much prefer just keeping Cam for the year. I also know for a fact I MUCH preferred Jameis Winston for 1 million over Yeddy for 20 per. Plus I did forecast teddy having his best season and he he did, been on roll with panther predictions.

Its one big mixed bag. I did learn form Anderson alluding to not taking a discount to join Rhules crew, I thought the opposite. 30 at a speed position, most times its over or at best 1-2 years left. Everyone wants security and more money, Anderson may only want a 1-2 year extension, who knows. Finesser may have heard that along with a 20 million tag/want/demand..... and thought "not a single chance, better check his market value". At the top of my favorite players picked are two WR- Smith and Marshall. Man o Man if Marshall can stay healthy AND unlock a couple of levels.....Steve Smith will have competition for many of his all-time panther records. Marshall is a 200+LBs, real 6'2, real 4.4, and came to LSU as 5 star player. He was the one that was going to have Chase stats, he was the higher rated WR than both Chase and Jefferson. Shi Smith feels like a slot nightmare. Without the super size or super numbers, but hes quick in tight space. I thinks he a great slot for this current panther O, see who replaces Brady after he leaves this coming year, but WR group will be in great shape for the new OC.

Not buying this. I do think ANderson wants a new deal and panthers want to wait. Hes a bargain and turns 30 next year I think. Id wait on him too, Rhule and him seem like they really enjoy each other. I see Anderson testing FA next year and coming back to Carolina after egos by both sides get checked.

For players I use Sportac, not cause its better, I do it out of habit since I used sportac about two months after it arrived on the interwebz. OTC is better for future cap- you can cut, sign, extend players. I also use OTC for free agents too, I like the way you can group positions or teams. Neither is better than the other imo, but both are inaccurate while very little difference. Most times they would wait til Aaron Wilson or Rapport post the contract, but they (at times) dont have all the full details. For me it a personal preference, if not for old habit I may only use OTC since I like the methods and format they use. Both put out other content as well, its worth a look/listen to their articles and podcasts.

Thats not correct. That figure does not include Reddick, Boston, or Paradis dead cap. There maybe a couple more that I over looked, but each of them takes away about 5(paradis I think is 10) million each in dead cap form the 58 number. The number is closer to 40 .
-
Neither. The best and only one used for cap stuff is - https://nflpa.com/reports/public-salary-cap-report Like the 18th time Ive been trying to tell folks. Thats the official one, it does lag behind OTC and sportac, buts its the only one thats accurate.

Ron did take over the worst team in league during a lockout. Much like Rhule he did not have OTAs, rookie camp etc. Plus no 2nd rounder his first year, he was dealt 2 7 off suite... Plus he did admit his biggest mistake was not bringing along a coach that was a NFL HC before, I remember one of Mcderps first hires was LFriaser, long time RR friend. Now I hate that you made defend RR... PLLLLUUUUS I bet Jerry Richardson was cheap about coaching salary stuff, that could have prevented RR form bringing in who he truly wanted ie a former HC....

In the stadium with 80K strong, its the best. In a bar/home setting, hard pass. Its the ultimate had to be there thing.

Good news everyone. FDA who normally is years behind, proved this recently https://www.vcuhealth.org/news/vcu-health-leads-clinical-trial-of-advanced-artificial-heart There are other take home hearts as well, many are in the states.

Let the 2020 draft class help temper expectations for nice 2021 class
Basbear replied to Basbear's topic in 2025 NFL Draft
There were reports of Rhule wanting to trade down form the 1st, now seeing friessser breaking the team trade record, that could be one of the reasons for no more herniay. Friesser loves groups while old school GM like Gman and Herniay love a player. I hate to go madden or fantasy guy.....I luck out and learned that sometimes your 2nd or 3rd want is better than your 1st want. Early on I got locked in on certain players and was in the dumps if I didnt land them, turned out my next in line had the much better season. Another light started to work up stairs. Should have done the 2021 draft in 2020 given the holes on the roster. -
I didnt know I had a fellow YGM fan.... of course its big brained LG! HIGH- Derrick Brown. LG took YGM, I wanted to take another one. Watch out league, there could be a bigger Adarnold on the come up!! UNsure- Ginger Cringer. ???........???...?...?....?? Low- Elf weak and injury-prone is a bad combo. Show me that thumb prevented you form gaining strength and stay off the injury report for once in your career.

I had a long post about my the first impressions of seeing the class, its the most impressive looking class that I can remember. Marshall looking very tall and filled out for a rookie. OL wise Brown, Christ, and Moore look like theyve already gone though an NFL off-season. Tremble not as size "wow", but he looks in great shape. Taylor looked too tall for a CB. With opt out and short college season, many teams where worried about players shape. Carolina rookie more than passrf the eye test, but cardio is totally different animal(most had GREAT pro-days as well..)
-
-
Thats true in the pros, but a tad difference in the college. If teams are not throwing your way, some college CBs learn to bait them into throwing their way. Its a hard sell showing a CB that didnt have INTs and PBs in college, then suddenly develop them in the meat grinder NFL(got any one or 3?). Plus rookies CB will get repeatedly tested/worked until they start getting regular INTs and PBs. If a CB is never placing his hands on balls, he is a not a threat. QBs will throw allllll day at non-threats. We will see what type of coach Jackson is. These type of CBs are different and more press types. For his faults as a DC I loved Steve Wilkis the DB coach.

5th year in row for this......... 185% Cam fans are the worst thing about Cam.
-
As a mid-5th no big issue at all with Taylor. This pick does break my one rule for CB(and horn), lack of stats - INTs PBs etc. Rhule came out and said their focus is not stats, I agree for certain spots- QB, RB, DE. But man I want my CBs to have ball skills with stats in college. We will see whos right.
