Just to fill those confused people in, most of posters are using their phones and don't see the pic us laptop users see.....its had Cam waaaay past his NE days, CMC waaaay past his Panthers days, and now BY holds the picture spot to my right.....its worse than the Madden curse at its height...

Best I heard this is how the 49ers deal went down. He's been very quiet, but Mike Shanahan works for the 49ers and he stills puts in HC hours. He's the juice and has plenty of power to consult them on all football decisions. He watched all the practice tape for one week and told everyone Brock Purdy was the clear best QB on the roster. At the time Jimmy garoppolo was there and they just spent three 1st on Trey Lance, but Purdy was the best according to the brain power there.......Guess what he was 100% right. Lance was too green, but my god did have some big potential. Then he got injuries and that was a huge setback to someone that needed the most reps to get better. Purdy earned the job(fight me) and saved Lynchs job, made it where Lance was not the in the plans. Dallas gave away a 4th when dak was still on the team and needing money. He's still young and everyone doesn't learn at the same rate. The NFL does not wait, they will move on to the next corp of off-charts potential QBs.... If you bump threads form that period, you will see me at times saying Id draft Lance 1st over-all, yes even above Trevor Lawrence. He could not beat out Purdy or even Jimmy or make Dallas double think about Dak. No way hes Herbo level either, but given the bar is so low.....like limbo bar in hell low, of course he could be better than BY and earn one of the 32 starter jobs.....No herbo, dak or even purdy here, but just need around the 14th best and that would be be just fine right now for this young team....

Its difficult. The best and about only way is Mac Jones himself tells the 49ers he wants a opportunity to start. (But then they could change lanes and dump purdy.....) Back to Jones, the 49ers would not be out of line in asking for money and/or picks to take BY off the Panthers hands. The last thing you want is a player on your team that doesn't want to be there, old Antonio Brown wrote the novel on how to get off a team..... Jones would have to tell the 9ers he wants out and here's a list of teams that he wants to join.... then the Panthers would need to be on the list as well...... the 9ers could laugh at the request and say we will choose when and if you will be traded. They also want to protect themselves so no Rams, Seahawks etc. I mean we all just want about dang near anyone besides BY, even street FAs would be welcomed to some. I was never a fan of Jones and thought it was Bills hail Mary to fix the pats.. I got about 100 other option before Jones is even a thought.

fitz came up with this idea in another thread. I think its in the many options, my worry is SF will want picks or at least pay enough of BYs contract to match Jones pay stub. I simply cannot think of any NFL coach that studies BY and thinks " I need that guy on my team "... Or the classic " I can fix him ". I mean.... not to dog pile on poor little BY... the Panthers spent 200+ million on the best OL that's not juiced maxed. Young, capable, and talent at TE, RB, and WR. Its still not enough......maybe all-pros at 10 spots could "unlock" BY.....

I've already had this discussion years ago and per normal I had a great picture to illustrate my point. This was when Daniel Jones was used dog water playing for the Giants, his first 3 years mirrored Trevors.....guess what they were= AWFUL, like by far league worst. Giants entered some Jones terror timeline by not picking up his 5th year, then signing him to some 4yr 160million insane deal, then cutting him right after. Trevor is the worst. Like others I fell for "Hes 6'5, mobile, and can toss it over a mountain...". He's awful and its sad this isn't well known or talked about more since its the "jags". Then when the jags gave him a bag...not only a QB bag, but a top 3 at time bag....up there with signing Watson and Wilson as biggest NFL mistakes. Again, he's one of the prime few that Id rather roll with rookie deal BY and I have 100+ post of my BY haterade.

Ive seen his bald head in a couple of the winning speech videos....

The plan is somewhat simple- draft 1 maybe even 2 QBs. Use rounds 1-4 on at least one of them. Bring in a Vet ala Wilson, Cousions, etc etc. Signed one of the fallen 1st round bust ala Wilson, lance etc. Hold a real honest QB competition between those 4 QBs. 2 jobs goto 53 and 1 goes to the PS. Of course before dump/trade/whatever all current Panthers QBs with red hair or below 6 foot. Yes its not simple, but it is that simple as listed above...

Trevor is one of the very few Id still ride with BY* ONLY reason being the money * Trevor is an enigma. Like others said, he's a lab grown QB/Madden createaplayer basically like John Elway 2.0..I think it goes Elway, Luck, and the discussion starts for Trevor in best QB prospect ever. Fact of the matter, he's truly awful like 3rd from bottom bitach each year. Much like BY he's gotten too many starts as well. Many have tied to unlock and once I saw Doug petterson fail, its over. No chance I want the Panthers to pay 50 million per year and still suck ass. That's the only thing saving BY is his rookie contract. Firm pass form me, Id exhausted nearly every method rather than take on a terrible QB and pay them 50 million per to be terrible. If he somehow got in the backup price/fix me price range, even then I still don't believe.....he's very very bad and has been his whole long career......Jags have tied to supply lots of help in the form of coaches and players too.

Someone said after the game Mike White jersey was still hanging up after the game between BY and Dalton lockers. Like others, there's no magic QB help this in-season, its BY or Dalton show. Plus can you blame them(somewhat, but think...) everyone wants and hoped BY could build off his last 9 games. Given the investment, the hope was BY could fill the QB role for 15+ years. Morgan and Dave did not pick BY via trade up. They need to get to work on a total rebuild for the QB. There's nothing and they need everything-vet, starter, PS/future prospect. The free agent is headlined by bust Jones and failed 1st rounders. The draft looks meh at best too, (still a long way).... The work never ends......

They have with a different team, but that fact remains. It was part of the reason Kalil did his "we're going to the SB". Cam got there in year 5, like the saying stated. I do think a duel threat is a huge % of what you need. The problem remains, QB is still played from the pocket. If you cannot avoid pressures, hurries, and sacks...You need those wheels to save you then. Tom Brady was the best in NFL at avoiding pressure, sacks etc and he had no wheels at all. Still its a package deal, cause I point out fields or AR. I think more time is needed and better teachers are as well. Buuuuttttttt the collective bargaining deal limits practices and training. I feel BY would improve if he was allowed to practice more, same goes for many other young QBs.....but there's no time, its right now or "Hey checkout this college QB..."

Fitz, Thanks for the good summary! I cannot disagree with much. Still glad this isn't another 2024 season, so I will take this late season playoff flirt....

I view QBs differently given the last five years. There's even that older obscure fact that if a QB has been with a team over five years and no SB, it will never happen. Now it feels like the league gives QBs three years and if no success, find another QB. Teams are in panic mode now too often and QBs......these poor QBs....Sure the money is great, but its unfair what's being asked of them. Deal is unless you have Allen, Mahomey, Herbo, Jackson, or Burrow you need to spend resources on finding a QB. Stafford(current MVP?) and others in this group, age and other factors means they are not long term like the first five listed. Wait those three years and you may be able to late pick swap for a QB drafted #2 overall.

You're more than welcome and Scott all of us have experienced your long posting. Id say most have been showered with positivity. If not I'll still read your reply, either way. My line of thinking we are in-season and by some miracles the Panthers are in the playoff hunt. While its the biggest decision in panther history, maybe it does need time during the off-season dull period. Im also not one to tell people what to talk about or when to to do so or what positive/negative etc.(boy the board is awful BY heavy.....). I do not like to tell my fellow Panthers fans how to fan.(I normally only jump in when its classless stuff or the common division BS ) Like I said, its the biggest choice and the effect will change the direction of this team for years to come.... Be unreal to hear Brandt/Dans TRUE thoughts on this topic...

I don't see how, but I fear others hold BY in a different light. I just know Brandt/Dan/Dave jobs are on the line. 250mill and fails or can not find a better option.... I get 175 yards feel ultra easy too replace, hell I even think a green 2026 rookie could be closer enough to justify it.... Just depends on them and how the future plays out.

Thus he and his agent/crew can "holdout" as a bargaining tactic. That is his last "cheap" rookie deal year. The question will be simple this- either you commit a 200+mill deal for BY or if not????? Welllllll BY is not part of your future plans. If the Panthers are unwilling to do so, BY/agent/crew will demand a trade or release. This is why so many recent first round QBs have been traded at this stage. That was the point of my comments. Incoming off-season this should/will be answered.

Again I am trying my best not to worry about off-season or 2026 Panthers, just on this ultra wild 2025 mid-season playoff hunt ride. Still the reps of BY will meet with Brandt/Dan and other leadership(maybe even tepper). To simplify this without using many words; BY will need a financial commitment from the Panthers in the form of new contract OR he not part of the Panthers 2026 plan thus not on the team. That choice will either make or break a few NFL careers....

Besides Jones, this is wrong....Carr was a early 2nd rounder. Wentz got traded after eagles gave him 120+ million, same for Goff got a bag and dumped. Trey Lance was traded to Dallas before his 4th. Zack Wilson got traded to bronco after his 3rd yr for used PB&J sandwich Josh Rosen was traded in his second year. Sam darnold was trade here after his 3rd year, if you member Panthers also picked up his 5th yr option as part of the trade. Kenny Pickett traded after his 3rd year Mac Jones was traded recently Justin Fields was traded after his 3rd year Its prime decision time in the off-season. Again BY and his crew/agent have some cards to play and there .001% he plays on 4th year here without some sort contract.
