< 3.5% of the total cap…combined. Maximizing Reddick/Burns in 2021.
Basbear replied to ellis's topic in Carolina Panthers
When reddick signed, it was my favorite FA. Shortly after I dove into some highlights........I changed my mind to perryman being my favorite. Hate to poop in the panther buffet, but 90% of his "plays/sacks/TFL/INTs" came against backups/RBs/TEs/fluke QB running into him. 5 sacks+ came against giants backup/rookie in one game as welll. It was a real let down, see for yourself- -
Please allow me to help with the assistance form the recently passed Alex Gibbs aka the Godfather of modern zone blocking- If you want to down further down the rabbit hole and have the 90 minutes- Side notes- The thing is Gibbs was constantly changing, not cause he wanted too, but cause he had too. Its hard to understand and keep up, but you will do fine given youve been around football before. I started following him during my fantasy football days- "Who is the reason for the constant success given different RBs" Gibbs...... he doesnt get the credit, but he changed the whole football game(all levels), hes like the OL Bill Walsh. Fun fact I know you will remember Rashad Butler, 3rd round OT form the canes IR rookie year, cut the next. Gibbs was at Texans at that point, they claimed him and he craved out a 5 year run with them after being tossed out. (label as too weak form the panthers). Erv is a better Bulter in my book, still the system has changed some since these vids where released, but this is best start you can get. Lastly Gibbs was a NCer too....and I was legit scared when he came to the Failcons....turns out all you need elite DL filled with peppers. jenks, rucker, buck, and good backups then that zone stuff isnt as tough...... enjoy.

Tremble Projected to be 3rd Most Productive Rookie TE
Basbear replied to Little Goody Two Shoes's topic in Carolina Panthers
Im a sanjay aka 2 TE nut, huge believer in that. I believe there will be some plays with both on the field and lots of movement. I want to control the middle of the field, TE do just that. -
If Rhule, Pat Meyer, and Jeremy Scott all come to me with big support..... I mean 2 million is like missing out on a LB that plays ST some. Hes about at zero risk of embarrassing your team with off-field BS. Hes been healthy and rarely misses any snaps over his career. Hes a true pro with high IQ, thats worth slight over pay. Again its hard at times finding very good players that WANT to play at the bank and Moton wanted to stay here. He could have held out for 20+ million after the new TV money comes in along getting over convid....I wouldnt have blamed him one bit. This is like hes getting four 2nd year tags in a row......not a bad deal for Moton....I think he could have gotten more in the open market. Nows hes the new big money.....it feels close to the CHarles Johnson deal.

He is. In the draft forum I went back and reviewed some Chuba game reps. My god he was dam near unstoppable going up the middle and he got 10, 8, 12, 7 gains like it was nothing. Better hands than I originally thought too. I loved round 4-7 more than 1-3, but wasnt big on Chuba so I dove back in and improved my opinion. Still this isnt big 12 any more, those easy 10 yard gainers will be rare now....

This is not homer talk or nothing, plus I say this after voicing my displeasures about both Elf and Erv regularly. Wide zone system is a GREAT fit for both of them, especially Elf. Both in motion and out in space suits them much better than one vs one. Both are able pulling OL too, tho thats not a LT role...still I think the fit is a great one. I just need to see live snaps along with BOTH staying healthy. Thing is you need a massive amount of reps to get this down too....... poor Pat will have to find a way, glad its not me...

I switched OG with RT on my value chart. In the past I not want to invest ANY draft capital before mid 3rd on OG, league changed and I had to follow. Again its a tough gig, along with a tough choice. RT is just not as valued as nearly 70% of other spots. Facts are there, yes it has changed some recently, they are stilll FAR behind. I maybe changing my tune in the future, Ive said for YEARS TE and C are vastly underpaid. I feel the league is 100% wrong on TE and C. Someone has to be bottom paid tho and the league has Safety, RTs, C, LBs, TEs, and RTs are it. If you look into RT salaries its a fast drop after the top 3-4 guys, like 10 million difference. Not normal at all. Thats where I want to be, in the 8 million pool and not the 16-20 waiting to play LT pool. 2x, thats hurts to my core.......
-
Just snake bitten No excuses, just say he was not 100% healthy while playing. Bad tape can happen, he just needs to figure out how to get over the injuries or find himself on the couch. Thats a skill and I have reached my limit waiting on him. Ive heard hes as tough as anyone on the team.

He played better this past season, will that remain?, dont know. Answer this is Moton 2x better than the Dwilliams that played this past season? Moton never was 2nd team all-pro, Moton also never had the bad years Williams did while rehabbing an acl knee. Id take williams and his contract 10 out of 10 compared to Moton.
-
Think about it Williams was forced to play LT......failed no question, unfair he was coming off a shredded ACL. MCL knee. Dumb dumb, my god! Think about Moton moving to LT and Williams is where he was 2nd team all-pro.....Now the panthers have OTs for the next 10 years!! Sometimes fugy was going on with Moton not playing LT.....
-
Checkout the league and how it pays. Lane Johnson was signed with intentions to play LT, Ram just signed this month, same for Moton. League has been focused on OGs, and LTs over RTs. You can not pay every spot top money, league has been not paying RTs for some time. Those are just the top 20, go down the list and RT is neck and neck with C.....Id prefer to pay C over RT too. https://www.spotrac.com/nfl/contracts/offensive-line/ My spots are QB, DE/edge, LT, WR and if its true man CB them too. Not putting coin into RB, RT, Safety, zone CBs and LBs(not 3-4OLB) I will say TE and C are vastly under paid, I would be signing TEs and C to top money if the right guy is available. Reset the market without thinking about it. For TOO god dam long the panthers have been paying the least valued spots TOP money, add 5 more years to the last 15 years......
-
I member him starting at LT as a rookie and not looking like he didnt belong. Plus I heard it was like Thursday/friday and the team went to him and was like "Youre starting LT"...so poor guy didnt even take reps as a LT til game-time. Hes had awful luck and again the other options ALL have big issues as well. Scott has the least flags, but hes currently rehabbing his shoulder....which is a big deal for a OLman not being able to lift.(thus hes behind and playing ketchup...) Little can get cut at any point and Erv is one of lowest graded OL for the last three years....plus those ranking came at easier spots than LT. Panthers need a warlock for a OL coach to get good results it feels...

I was in the 14-15 over five year range(20 was the number), thats not 16.8, so I guess Im wrong. Thats more than the current tag fyi....... I mean hes not the highest paid and not 20 million per either. Most times with a very good clean pro like Moton, Im not going to bitach about a couple extra million. ALso I would have much prefer signing Dwilliams(he played better than Moton last year btw) to 3 year, $24,000,000 contract over this.....same gos for signing Austin Ekeler to a 4 year, $24,500,000 contract 100% over CMC and his insane 12.5 per deal that no other RB has past years ago. Add in the SHaq deal, CMC, and RT Moton talk about pissing away cap space on some of the least valued spots. GOOOO PANTHERS!!!

Ive been on his nuts for a while, at one point I thought he would make the sting of Little as a 2nd round flop not matter since Daley was going to play like a 2nd rounder. Sadly the waiting game has won and hes at same point as Little. I do think it hurts him some, (just like Scott) in that hes able to play 4 spots and thus an key backup rather than a starter. Months ago said hes the darkhorse for LT, but if he runs into another injury/what-ever, I can see him getting cut too. List feels like the same player over and over, plus Im just not a big Erv fan at all. It still remains to be seen what type of system the panthers will focus on for OL, Ive seen reports and I need to see live snaps. If it is zone/gibbs/wide-zone hybrid, LT may not be the GIANT need that I/everyone thinks.

Now nearly 99% are putting in work, only if you won the gene lotto youre able to coast along. Plus it helps if the spot is like QB, big ben maybe the last one that got by on his gifts. Tho maybe the first time hes putting in work with recent reports, idk he always showed up to camp looking like poo stuffed in a sack. Even the #10 OLmen is a god dam man beast with working out. I know a few WRs are getting by via being able to roll out of bad and run a 4.2 while not training. Luke lived at the stadium form what I heard, I believe he had a personal card to everywhere. He lifted multiple times per day and always stayed late watching film. He beat the morning sun and it was night-time before he was home many times. Shame he "lost" that DPOY level and didnt like watching himself on film.....plus it crushed the salary cap as well, not a typical Hernaiy mistake either. Luke, Snow, and Rhule would have been a perfect team and we still need LBs....
-
Thing is, everyone could be right.......at least one week or another. My vote is for Daley.
-
16.8 per over five yrs........ Not bad, not bad, not going to belly ache over two million more than want I thought was "fair". I also think for the first time is a while, Moton will last the full five years here and maybe even sign another deal towards the end of this one.

Ranking the NFC South LBs: Where does Panthers' Shaq Thompson fit in?
Basbear replied to SBBlue's topic in Carolina Panthers
Perryman is maybe the best FA signing this year, but he has the injury-prone label.......but come on Shaq is the no question best LB here given Perryman may miss a few games. No chance Carter is better, tho you could be thinking CHinn is still a LB. -
I believe youre a real panther fan, just look at your avatar!

REPORT: No movement in Panthers’ talks w/ Taylor Moton
Basbear replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Thought they reached the end for tagging. He completely played the system/game the right way, hot super rich as a result too. Funny I always thought was in the Teddy group far as QB talent, but I seen he was 5th in TDs since joining the viking.....waaay higher than I thought. -
I feel betrayed.......but outside having some fun, I dont want my comments to start/re-start silly e-drama....
-
Youre on the outs with both of them? Dang we need to remember first and foremost, we are die-hard panther fans!

What will a week 1 loss to the Jets do to Darnold?
Basbear replied to CanadianCat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I believe one of Darnold's strengths is his mental aspect to NFL. He could have traveled down many different wrong roads during his Jets career, but he never stopped trying. Many times the guy was running for his life, not once did he reach the point of asking for a trade or throwing players under the bus. He also never got even decent weapons in this golden era for, never complained after his GM told him he'd get the horses. I think he will be just fine even if the Jets pull off the up-set. -
REPORT: No movement in Panthers’ talks w/ Taylor Moton
Basbear replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Kirk Cousins got to three, or am I mistaken? Im firmly in the two year tag group, while keeping options open.
