What was the boldest move this franchise has made?
Basbear replied to Sean Payton's Vicodin's topic in Carolina Panthers
Greg was traded for aka herniay magic..... Top twenty all-time best trades. Still not a top level free agent signing. Theres not any, could add chuck smith to Wahle and Lucas. Ma'ake Kemoeatu may be in the top five too. Lucas Wahle Kalil(matt) Chuck Smith Ma'ake Kemoeatu Robby Anderson @EgoDogg can you think of any headlining free agent pickups? * In high demand and not over the hill* -

That was my point about panthers free agent history. Walls was still finding himself and was not elite til years later. Panthers never land a big fish, for whatever reasons. Matt Kalil is 3rd on the list it feels. Geene, White, Davis, and a few others were way past their primes (but at least names normies knew.) "Elite" players in their prime, its been pure pathetic 26 year history for the panthers signing them. One of the two was an OG when that spot was below RB and even safety in value terms, PATHETIC! -
Im about here with the QB names reversed......just dont let anyone on the lance spaceship that Im driving...... Ive been saying for years about its harder to find a quality LT than QB. IF Sewell is right there, beat the jordan gross ticket turn in time and take him!!
-
Didnt Watson and his lawyer say they where going to tell their side last Friday or was it weeks ago? All Ive seen is one case where they said " This is a money grab" . Nothing on the other 20+. He should have paid them off and got help....but its doesnt seem like anyone in his circle knew enough to help. I bet Watson wouldnt have listened anyway...
-
It is. Thats also a old draft form 1-18-2020, before the comp picks were awarded, before SF/miami/philly trade.
-
BoB made some awful trades, at the time Tunsil for 2 1sts was not one of them. You must win and thats the pressure BoB couldnt handle. Texans had a murderous start AT KC-who just won SB Ravens- team known for giving punishment Lamar At Steelers- "" Viking- "" result = 0-4 hole and that 1st looks like a top 5 pick now..
-
I think Pitts will not make to 7 either. So the following have 0 chance to be at 8 - Sunshine, Wilson, Jones 10%- Chase, Pitts, Waddle, Fields 50%- Lance, Sewell, Slater Panthers should be aware......idk about Fritterererr or if Tepper demands a QB.
-
They would have never got him if not for that gas mask vid. He was a top 3 lock and then......... he fell alllllllllllll the way to phins(12th???). BoB trade two 1sts(agreed with it), future one happened to be 3rd overall in quality QB draft(got to win BoB)..... In SF its legal to smoke crack and trade future 1sts for Mac "fuging" Jones. Make one hell of a movie, I still can not follow it without my brain over heating.

I love Darrisaw and have him as 10th overall for the panthers. No issue with trading down AND landing him. I still prefer to hold firm at 8...at most trade back 9 or 10........hate to go much further. Only if the team trading up tells which player they are drafting. Horn, Paye, Darrisaw, or Slater no issues form me.....just need a 2nd/3rd/??? to make the move.

2021 NFL mock draft 2.0: Analytics-based picks to maximize wins
Basbear replied to ladypanther's topic in 2023 NFL Draft
Wish super intelligent woman were the role models for them, nothing sexier imo. She has always brought a different angle/view on the topic discussion and one of the few I will give attention too. I just said Kwity Paye should be a dark horse top 7 pick and big brain agrees.. -
I think another player could be picked in top 7, no one is talking about Kwity Paye. Failcons or Lions need a DL force and there only one in this draft- Kwity Paye. Paye played every single position on DL, including nose and wide 9. All he did was cause problems. In fact It wouldnt hurt if the panthers drafted him at 8 either- Reddick-Brown-Paye-Burns....all young and cause havoc. Honestly the experts are missing the ball big time on Paye. That group is super weak too, it should drive his value up!

The Jones pick helps the juice falling to 8. Everyone but Lions Detroit and Cincinnati is sorta set. I guess ATL could be a unknown. I feel one of these three will draft Pitts. WRs are the next to fall. Panthers need to hold...HOLD and not fall victim to draft BS. no matter what happens, if Jones gos 3rd- Sewell, Chase, Fields, Lance, or maybe even Pitts will be there at 8. Let others panic and trade future 1s 2s 3s to draft a unknown......8 will have a player at similar talent level. If ATL gets Pitts...... Chinn just got even more add value.
-
Yea the smart play would be to trade one, but we're not smart....
-
Even in the best group, Pitts would be a top 5 WR. Hes similar to CMC..... in the sense hes a miss-match. He did nothing less than be the focus of SEC Ds and they still had trouble keeping him down. Personaly Id take him as a WR over DeVonta Smith. Simply he gets open and has the hands to catch the pass. Meh at blocking, but so what if hes needs to double teamed.

Moore is getting 20+ , maybe even Anderson too.

Yea Davis gave the panthers a good 1 and half seasons. Kevin was only two season late in his career. Walls and Kasay are panthers legends(tho kicker is.....). I still believe the panthers free agency history is BY FAR the worst one over the last 26 years. Cat bro down south had much better names and success. Browns had some panthers like free agency. You did improve, still farrrr behind the other 31 teams. Panthers focused on resigning players form 7-9 teams. Think about the BIG name free agent pickups......The two are Ken Lucas and Matt Wahle. Not late in career or blossomed after a cheap deal. Big names..... just those two in prime career points. -
"I'll be shocked if it's not Mac Jones to 49ers."
Basbear replied to Ivan The Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yea they are pushing those opt-out guys down, its unique. I didnt like players that pass on their bowl game, but understand the risk. Id get some insurance and play with my bros, but I understand not putting your draft life on the line for MVP of muffer bowl... Convid is a deal thats case by case. Sewell just seems like he is falling to 10s, I hope panthers dont over-think this.......Thank the football gods and draft a 15 year problem stopper. I believe Kevin Colbert said they where going to do this months ago, hope the panthers are smarter than that. -
Next years Salary Cap? Absolutely insane?
Basbear replied to thunderraiden's topic in Carolina Panthers
Had around 110 million before the start of this free agency. Frittererermagic borrowed close to 50 million form 2022 to pay for 2021 free agents....... 2022 doesnt include a QB, ANderson, Moore, or Moton.......OR a starting C or RG.........need to hit on some draft picks. -

We are talking the bugals here, but for alllllll their mistakes, recent drafts havnt been half bad. Still they could be like many teams and have Slater rated higher. Their golden boy is pushing HARD for WR CHase. Lastly they just signed Riley Reiff and drafted Jonah Williams with the 9th pick in 2019, both play OT..... Sewell seeems to be falling and he even may fall past the panthers if Fields/Lance are still there, no matter what reports say. Personally love to see Sewell drafted by the panthers, thought it was a dream months ago........not as dreamy now. -

Herbert just had the best rookie season in NFL history, only thing I can think of to ease the pain.....Herniay would still be GM if he drafted Herbert.. -
https://fanspeak.com/ontheclock-nfl-mock-draft-simulator/draft.php?d=cdaoxo Just missing a starter level CB, but its the backup QB plan draft thinger morbober..... Always going to take a player like Toney in the 5th, always. Mond is a dream at 6th, still have him around the late 4th. 8: R1 P8 OT Penei Sewell - Oregon 39: R2 P7 DL Levi Onwuzurike - Washington 73: R3 P9 C Josh Myers - Ohio State 113: R4 P8 LB Dylan Moses - Alabama 151: R5 P7 EDGE Shaka Toney - Penn State 193: R6 P9 QB Kellen Mond - Texas A&M 222: R6 P38 CB Thomas Graham Jr. - Oregon 226: R6 P42 TE Noah Gray - Duke

Keeping Herniay around too long the first time, getting noting for Peppers, not drafting Rae Carruth after he fell....
