Thats true in the pros, but a tad difference in the college. If teams are not throwing your way, some college CBs learn to bait them into throwing their way. Its a hard sell showing a CB that didnt have INTs and PBs in college, then suddenly develop them in the meat grinder NFL(got any one or 3?). Plus rookies CB will get repeatedly tested/worked until they start getting regular INTs and PBs. If a CB is never placing his hands on balls, he is a not a threat. QBs will throw allllll day at non-threats. We will see what type of coach Jackson is. These type of CBs are different and more press types. For his faults as a DC I loved Steve Wilkis the DB coach.

5th year in row for this......... 185% Cam fans are the worst thing about Cam.

As a mid-5th no big issue at all with Taylor. This pick does break my one rule for CB(and horn), lack of stats - INTs PBs etc. Rhule came out and said their focus is not stats, I agree for certain spots- QB, RB, DE. But man I want my CBs to have ball skills with stats in college. We will see whos right.

ROUND OVERALL PLAYER SELECTED GRADE 1 7 DL Derrick Brown, Auburn A+ 2 38 DE Yetur Gross-Matos, Penn State A 2 64* S Jeremy Chinn, Southern Illinois A 4 113 CB Troy Pride Jr., Notre Dame A- 5 152 S Kenny Robinson Jr., West Virginia B+ 6 184 DL Bravvion Roy, Baylor B+ 7 221 CB Stantley Thomas-Oliver III, FIU B Im petty big on YGM, maybe more than anyone on the huddle(guy just needs to grow up). The first three picks are looking great and dont need any more fluff. This is mainly to show what happens in one year when you feel the 2021 class has 5-9 starters/great role players. Start with 4th rounder Pride. No matter who/what/when a team uses a early pick at your position, you are on notice. Not only that they signed 2 vets and added another mid-5th round pick. Pride is on the bubble. 5th- Krob. Wavied at final cuts and re-signed to the PS. Spent a few weeks and finally got the call up to the bigs. Even now hes still fighting for a 53 spot. Bubble as well, even at what most think is a "thin" group. 6th- Roy..what a difference in one year. He was starting late season, now like Pride Panthers added able bodies to the group in vets and draft picks. If Hoskins shows out, Roy could be cut as well... on the " " 7th- STO <cut paste the pride foot notes> There you have it, just 1 year later only 3 have solid footing on this team. The remaining 4 are Bubble guys with hard fights to make this team. Need to look at the 2019, 2018 drafts as well......not much left but Hernaiys 1st rounder in each. I do really like the 2021 class and if I take off my chains, feel its got a good shot at being the best in panthers history.

Ron "learning from his mistakes" in Carolina
Basbear replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was done with RR when he could not field a decent NFL D(2018). It was the 100% final nail for me when Gettleman had a open HC spot and did not hire RR. Ron was LOADS better with Gettleman than Herniay, dont know the exact numbers but the record with Gettleman was like 53-33 and 24-40 with Herniay. Phil Snow took a defense that lost the whole starting DL, HOF LB, elite CB, lots of good depth, and 100+ tackle SS ....AND played better. That was very telling to me, what was once was RR strength- players playing hard and Defense....now they quit and the Defense greatly improved form a 70 old years thats spent 98% of his career in meh college. Lastly he was turned down 9 times, before hired here.... should have been 10....but he sure is smiling now with complete control in DC. I thinks hes average-to-below average rating, it just reached the point....... like marriages, it ran its course and better to part ways for both parties. Panthers are pointing up and RR has more money, more power, and in a weak division with the best DL in the NFL. -
Big props to Rhule for having all the players thinking right.

Bill is the type to trade for Juilo and cut Cam shortly after....

Ron "learning from his mistakes" in Carolina
Basbear replied to ladypanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
A good GM would have greatly helped Ron, especially with focus on younger players. What most dont understand, there is around a 40% turn over each year. You must know how to pick and coach young players, just a fact. That turnover is less a issue if you get the right rookies. I believe in 2 years panthers went form, what top 3 oldest roster to the youngest roster. -
Analyzing the 10 OL who should make the roster
Basbear replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I dont think they improved the quality, but they have improved the quaintly somewhat. Its a very hard sell, but they had about 7 *proven NFL OLmen and added 3 form the draft. Yes you have to overlook injuries and bad ratings form most in the group. Thats 10 and its been a while since they had that many, even last year they didnt have 10. The job now falls at the feet of Rhule and OL coach Pat. I do not think this whole group would be rated in the 30s and we do not even know whos starting at LG, RG, or LT so its unfair to make/give a grade there too......but it will not be be as high as the group grade for sure. The biggest two issues for me are injuries and strength. I foresee panthers having a great working OL for a week or so, then 2 of the 5 get a month long injury. Thats where the depth can play a role and the new 17th game will have a small effect. Strength wise this group is lacking, all need to be locked in a weight room with 55 gallon drum of bull semen and Liquid BCAAs IVs. -
I hated HATED playing against Alex gibbs style OL, they forced you to do things their way. Then if busted a play, here came the cut block!! Most OLmen on paper looked like golds gym training staff and had no business in the NFL too. But they got great results. I remember Rashad Butler was drafted in third round inactive for his whole rookie year, then cut ONE YEAR after he was drafted(thanks hernaiy)! Houston picked him up and with their zone blocking system, he craved out a role. Had a decent NFL career after looking like a wet cow pie in Carolina. Elf, Erv, and Christ all have some of their best tape while in motion and in space.

DJ Moore officially changes jersey number to No. 2
Basbear replied to ncfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
1.5 million while still on the rookie scale......this may mean something is in the works.....hmmmm Id 100% waited one when it was free, not like he gets part of the money form new sales. But Im fugal to a fault. -

It seems he had enough of scouting and maybe give coaching a try after the break. I feel hes too nice to be a coach, sorta like how Proehl was. Mid west has the best fishing/hunting too, this is coming form a southern born bear.

Cardio and outside- Good for kids too, just around early teens start them in another direction like golf...

Analyzing the 10 OL who should make the roster
Basbear replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
I feel LT, LG, and RG will be super competitive. Today Trent Scott would be my pick for LT, but his best role is swing tackle. Im just not too high on either Elf or Erv, both are too injured and too weak to register on my man-love meter. Which brings me to Daley......another one with high injury issues. I believe he was going switch with Little and look like the 2nd round pick while Little stayed looking like a struggling 6th. IF, if, if......injuries are behind him- he could be a sleeper for LT and should be the starting LG. Much like Scott, hes best at being a backup for everyone but C. I defended Little til mid-season last year, I thought he turned the corner after having a great game against Chandler Jones. Issue was, Jones was playing hurt and went to the IR (i think) one game after his matchup vs Little. I watched Littles future attempt at LT..... he had about the worst 3 play series that you can have. All three Teddy was about to get murdered. Weak and confusion is a dangerous combo. My dumbass still is holding a 3% hope that Little got it figured out this off-season. Wildcard is rookies, lead by Christensen. 24 Christ vs 19 year old that will never sniff NFL fields, how will he adjust to NOT dominating. Grown ass man-beast will make you want your momma. Brown and Moore I have better hopes for 2022, but one could be ready this year. I feel both will carry a 50 LB vegan chocolate chip on their shoulder as fuel to prove the doubters wrong. Moore will have the biggest adjust with the school he came form and missing the 2020 season. I like brown as LG really, he can pull and has better movement than doubters give credit. Lastly do not over look these guys- Sam Tecklenburg- Baylor bro and paradis is 33 years old.....could show up to camp and look 53 Mike Horton- had a full PS season and NFL lifting. He could spoil the brown/moore hype. Matt Kaskey- At one point he was the "jewel" of the PS. Panthers protected him the most during the season. Hes young and just like Horton had a full year of Baylor.....I mean panther weight training and knows the system/terminology better than the rookies. -
Getzenberg looks at the left tackle options
Basbear replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
Okung.... I mean if not for Scott Finesser and him missing half the games last year, bring him back. He would be the starter if he signed today. I just dont see how after Seahawks got rid of him and missing 9 games that helps the case for a return. I bet he wants 10+ million too, that would also be a issue. Plus how badass would it be if Little was a legit LT.....this team would give any other teams problems for the next 10 years. I seen Erving recently, he looks thin, but in shape. He could shock everyone and give the Panthers 17 games of high level LT play. -
If he hasnt lowered his 20+ million per asking price, he can rent that out for a nice return....

Me on work release- Someone needs to make content, I suck at making huddle topics. For this one, I feel Stevens is the perfect PS player. He can play run QB, TE, LB, ST, RB, DE, etc. I feel grier is better pure QB, weapon wise/tricks/______ Tommy got me there. I can see the case for being active for ST, but hed have to prove that worth. He almost has to force Rhule by being a monster in practices.

I hate when some smarty program agrees with me, before I posted my mine. Before the draft I was 5-11, about one week after 7-10. (I have to remind other and myself, other team got better too.......) Still... Thats where Im at currently 7-10.
