  1. Man I know he never showed great. But he was a lot better last year. I’m not sure he ever would have been that good, but we broke this kid. What I saw yesterday is not even a backup in this league this is the right move, but if one of these college qbs says they aren’t coming to Charlotte, we can’t blame them. We can blame the bald guy with brass balls
  2. I just hope this was Canales' decision and not Teppers. I am fine with any decision the head coach makes.
  3. Most NFL players prime years are from ages 24 - 29. Everyone is different now with covid and all that, but for most players that's about year 3 through year 8. The players we drafted in the first round that are in that range now are: Ekwonu Horn Brown Burns Moore The two years before that were CMC and Vernon Butler. 4 of those players aren't here anymore. Horn and Brown have been great, but we haven't had both healthy at the same time really ever. Ick has been fine, but def not played up to draft slot. This is how you look like this on sundays. You can't miss on first round picks.
  4. Far be it from me to recommend medical help for anyone. But we have broken Bryce Young, and it is one of the most unfortunate things I've ever seen. The thing that we drafted him for as a strength was his ability to read and process defenses. He can't do that at all anymore. We know that he never had elite physical skills. He's now had at least 3 play callers in 2 years. He's had at least 2 different schemes, but supposedly one of those was a blend of two different schemes. Our Offensive line was incapable last year, and our receivers were just as bad. While it's clear we've fixed both the offensive line, and the receiving room, it is clear that Bryce just can't do it right now. After the 2nd pick yesterday, he just started throwing the check down immediately. Even though we were down big, he was just terrified to throw an interception. You just can't play like that. I'm not someone that declared myself for a quarterback before that draft. I'm not someone that is defending Bryce Young. I am saying that even for Bryce defenders, it appears we have completely destroyed his career. I think the experiment is over. He may have been capable of being an all time great, or he may have been a bust regardless, but it really looks like we completely broke this kid. I would not be surprised at all if high profile quarterbacks don't start declaring that they won't play for us, like John Elway with the Colts (who ended up being correct btw). The dysfunction of this franchise is absolutely appearing on the field every Sunday.
  5. The only difference in Dave tepper and Dan Snyder is that Dave is not problematic enough to have his franchise taken from him. and somehow, that’s worse.
  6. Gantt being an app grad is the only thing that makes armanti edwards a legend of the game
  7. I have no problem with the Bryce evaluation. I do think more orgs (and fans, (and huddlers)) had bryce as their #1 than would ever admit now. Projecting a QB as a top 3 pick is like playing Russian roulette but 4/6 chambers have a bullet. MOST of these guys do not meet expectations and it is a TERRIBLE spot to be in. If you miss, you are screwed for at least two years, if not 3, meanwhile the rest of your roster gets worse as you plug the hole at QB instead of spend that money at other deficiencies. The issue was making that trade in the first place and losing the capital we did, knowing how strong the QB draft was the following year, which did have a no doubt prospect at the top of the board. But we can’t can’t that now. time to support Bryce. If he can’t do it, we play roulette again next year.
  8. I get it. For me, the young guy needs reps. Last year didn’t seem like he earned preseason off. I do understand that we have an o line that is still gelling and may not have chemistry yet, but as much money and draft capital as we have there, that position cannot struggle. it tells me Canales feels like we have a puncher’s chance with Bryce. And we are absolutely cooked without him, especially without Andy. Gonna be tough to watch 60 minutes of Plummer and Luton.
  9. The fact that the owner’s wife’s preference of #1 overall QB is a topic of conversation on this board is 100% the problem with our franchise.
  10. If you would have told me at the start of the hiring cycle that we were hiring Canales, I'd be very confused. The way that this has worked out, I am cautiously encouraged that it appears Dan Morgan had most of the decision making power. Hopefully, this is a sign Tepp is learning. I do not think this is a short term project for either Canales or Morgan. Unless we are a complete dumpster fire, like we were this season, both are going to have to be given a very long leash. Our roster is bad. I think even the most optimistic projections would have us at 6 or 7 wins next year. The saving grace is an awful division, so long as ATL doesn't find a QB. It does appear that this guy has an incredible work ethic, which is something you see in a lot of successful head coaches. I was very encouraged to see some panic on the Bucs board about him potentially leaving, up to and including many saying he should be given a "coach in waiting" title. It also seems he has some very good relationships with some NFL legends, so maybe we can get those guys in some advisory roles (Dungy, Carroll etc). Finally it seems the Bucs offensive players are pretty bummed about this one. Good for us.
  11. Part of the Paris Peace Treaty. After WW1, they didn't want to fine them too much money, but we want to make sure they still aren't interested in taking over the country.
  12. Speaks to just how dominant of a blocker 79 really is in the run game. If he can figure out how to just be average in the pass game he’s a franchise changing player. His problem this year was on most pass plays he did a fine job, but on the ones he didn’t, he literally just let the guy go. guard play also clearly a massive hole on this team. the guy we signed after the season started as a special teams guy being a top 5 offensive guy is a testament to how poorly everyone else played.
  13. Were 2-14, and Bryce wasn't exactly a world beater, so I get the frustration. BUT... We've already mortgaged our immediate future on Bryce. If we try to undo that now, we are going to dig an even deeper hole. If you can get a bounty in the draft for him he's tradeable. Otherwise, he's the guy next season. Absolutely no reason to play a veteran journeyman. If Bryce is bad enough in 2024, we will get a QB in 2025. No reason to try to be a fringe playoff team next year. Either Bryce is the guy, or he ain't. Can you imagine the blowback if you trade Bryce and he ends up being good? Highly doubtful that happens, or you can find a trade partner that makes it advantageous for us.
  14. I’m gonna be an old man and yell at the cloud I guess but I really like the white on white and the black on silver and we rarely wear those anymore. I think we should wear blue pants every time we wear the blue jersey and black pants for every prime time/ otherwise big game. But the regular week to week, I like our historic uniforms. I guess the point I’m trying to make is the mix and match looks awful.
  15. It almost seems like the owner shouldn’t be making himself available to assistant coaches to complain about the head coach….
  16. The good news is for years people have been talking about how good the QB class is in this draft. I do not see us taking a QB. Which means a really good player will likely be available when we pick. There’s a chance we break the record for QB taken in the first round this year. I do think we need a heavy offense draft, if not entirely offense. If we don’t get better surrounding pieces on that side of the ball, Bryce will have no opportunity to develop into anything more than what he’s showing us right now. if bryce really is incapable as some of yall say, we are going to be terrible next year anyway, and this would open us up to taking a good QB in 2025 with a much upgraded personnel group on that side of the ball.
  17. I understand the frustration, I just don’t understand the confusion. Stroud was always the more pro ready pick. I don’t understand drafting young and being surprised that it is going to take some time and development. I really don’t understand the owner having a knee jerk reaction about it and trying to get us a top level wide out. This will surely cost us even more future draft picks. I don’t think you could bring the top 2 receivers in the league here and it make much of a difference this season.
  18. Just wait til he asks us all for 3 billion in tax dollars for his new stadium
  19. He’s literally our best player lmao. Great thread tho.
  20. If we trade down we are saying we trust Matt rhule to evaluate players. I don’t. Let’s draft a dude at 6. Happy with any O lineman. All indications are this kid is the Andrew luck/Trevor Lawrence of Centers. I can deal with that type of prospect despite positional value.
  21. I know this is not the point of this thread, but my favorite draft prospect is that center from Iowa. Big time position of need for us as well. I’d argue more than tackle.
  22. I don’t know about too loud, but it’s way louder than it ever has been. my ears are literally still ringing, though I am unfortunately close to a speaker.
