Maybe I'm off on that, but I thought it was pretty well accepted. Part of why I was upset when we traded for Bryce, knowing how bad we were going to be. Bryce still has a chance to be the better player though.

We know Ben Johnson wants a ton of control over roster decisions. I'm sure Chicago relinquished that. I get it on his part. Caleb Williams has been the "Andrew Luck" prospect for years now. Not shocking that Ben wanted that guy. I also do think the Bears roster is a lot better than our roster, not that we should be comparing anyway. Here's hoping we make everyone of those deep dish mfers regret that trade.

For me, this was always the retooling year. I was deceived by the insanely hot start. I think your assessment is spot on. Time to call up some of the young guys on the farm, let the old guys walk. and I hope we move some pieces and get a bigtime goaltender. I still don't think we can make a run this year, but following this year, we should have a roster capable of getting it done for the next several years. Never know what can happen if you just get a ticket to the dance though.

I think we are a great candidate to trade down. I know we have 9 picks, but if we could somehow move back to the middle, or back of the first round and get another earlier 2nd round pick, I think that's the way to go. We need more humans on our roster that can compete at an NFL level on the defensive side of the ball. We can address some of that in free agency, but not all. I'd definitely consider a move back to 10-14, if it involved an early 2nd, and from there, I wouldn't totally be opposed to a move back to the late first, pending compensation. This draft is deep at some of our positions of need, and I think we'd be wise to take advantage of that. Of course, this is all mute if one of your "dudes" is there when you pick at 8. Definitely no need to trade until draft day.

I really appreciate the candid look into things here. It couldn't have been easy for those guys to say that. His energy had to be terrible for it to make an article like this. I'm very glad it improved. It sounds so stupid, but at that level, when everyone is good, something as small as energy level can make a big impact.

This is why I think we may be incentivized to trade back in the draft. Those 6th and 7th round guys are at least NFL caliber guys if you draft decently. We have a lot of non-NFL guys playing, and certainly across the depth chart. Those late round picks will be more valuable to a team such as ours.

I love that little mock draft tool, but it's definitely flawed. Savion Williams consistently drops to the 6th/7th when I do it, and he's likely a day 2 pick. Mike Green is the same. If the Rams keep playing well, I could definitely see us trading back if the price is right. Would definitely come off of pick 8 and pick 60 (hypothetically) For something like pick 15 and pick 45. Not to mention those 6th and 7th round picks are going to mean a lot more for us than they will other teams. Our roster stinks and needs NFL quality players, especially on defense. I definitely could see us trading back and acquiring more picks. All three of our specialists are free agents as well.

Impact Rookies in Playoffs (Beyond Round 1)
ImfromClayton replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
XL is fine. Looks like a good 2nd round grade guy to me. I think a lot of people wanted Justin Jefferson. -
The wise decision would be for a QB needy team to draft Sanders and hold the cowboys hostage. Deion probably won't coach for the cowboys if they don't have him, so you could get a premium. This is going to be fascinating.

Would You Trade Draft Capital for a #1 WR???
ImfromClayton replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
As happy as I am with how the season finished, we still have a lot of needs. I don't think we will be able to address them all in the draft. May take some creative solutions, like what is mentioned here. Our roster has a large quantity of guys that just aren't NFL caliber players. In that way, if we can just keep the same quantity of draft picks, or potentially get a higher number of draft picks, I'm not all that opposed to some draft day trades. If through that we land at Garrett Wilson somehow, let's go. -

Not sure how legit this source is. Not to mention teams put out a lot of interference this time of year with their intentions. We likely aren't going to get an inside look at the franchises plans and intentions until they happen. But I guess that's what message boards are for. -
Impact Rookies in Playoffs (Beyond Round 1)
ImfromClayton replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Last year was also a very deep draft IMO. Not a good year to not have many picks. I think this draft is a little more average as far as depth goes. It's not bad, it's just not as good as last years. When there are more first round QB's, more talent falls to round 2 and 3, especially when teams start reaching for needs. -
Biggest Decision on offense this offseason…….
ImfromClayton replied to WarPanthers89's topic in Carolina Panthers
Moton has been one of the only bright spots about this franchise, and has been a loyal, diligent worker. He's moved to different spots when asked, and he always plays his ass off. If they let him walk that would be a shame IMO. -
Rookies struggle with things sometimes. He was dealing with a nagging injury all year. If he had a been a tremendous amount better than he was, he wouldn't have been available to us at 32. Lets let the rookie develop before we bury him.

We are talking about a backup quarterback. Jameis is a HOF vibes guy. If bryce gets hurt were going to suck anyway. Also, he prayed that the lord would deliver him from pick sixes.
-
I need this.

Jameis. Positive Vibes Only.

Last season we did not have an NFL roster on either side of the ball. We fixed offense. We did not address defense, and then our best player on that side of the ball got hurt. I feel like we can trust Evero's body of work. He didn't forget everything he knew. He was calling plays for XFL guys competing against NFL players.
-
I don't think he was bad at reading defenses as a rookie. I think he literally had a defensive lineman in his face within .75 seconds of snapping the ball. He wasn't reading defenses at all post snap.
-
I think he's a bit to volatile to bring into this situation. He's not even a free agent and he's talking like that

Really interesting that we finish 3rd in division and draft in front of the saints. 4th in the division is a big advantage on the schedule next season. I'd sit at 8. Draft day is weird. Never know who can fall to you. If T-Mac or Graham or Abdul gets to you, take em. If not, the best OL on the board will likely be available. Trade back in the 14-10 range and take luther burden or Ken Grant and get some more picks. Lord knows we can use em. Were in a really good spot.
-
He's definitely progressing. Roster is improving too, which helps him look better. His rookie year we were unimaginably terrible. We do have an NFL capable offense now. Need to improve the other side of the ball.
-
He definitely deserves credit. He's got a long way to go though before we all trust or like him, if he can ever get there. I have no reason to hate the guy if he's doing things that allow this team to be successful. He clearly stuck his nose in too many things. He's also clearly taken a step back from putting his nose in everything. Lets hope the trend holds if success comes. So yes, I'll give him credit and appreciation for allowing the football people to football.
