Don clearly values the future a little disproportionately imo. I understand there is influence from ownership but there’s a small window of opportunity here to position yourselves for a legitimate cup run. Our PP is going to falter even more in the playoffs. We know this. We are going to deal with injuries and guys getting bullied in ge playoffs. We know this. Every single current playoff team that’s a non wildcard in the East got better and some may have surpassed us. What message are you sending to the team as they look around and see their competition getting better for peanuts. They’re not even trading rostered players for these upgrades.

Trade the picks, franchise tag Burns, flip him for more picks.

What message are they sending to the literal players? Nobody here is dumb. The issues that plagued last season didn’t suddenly disappear. Maybe Dundon thinks divisional winner banners are good enough.

Which is a good offer. Sounds like the personal connection between SJ and NJD was too much to overcome. Also some specification that we were intentionally led on by SJ and potentially missed out on other players of interest. The team could very well be playing NYR in the 1st round. We will make a trade. The question is will it move the needle or be a TDL acquisition like last season: “look guys, we are making trades just like the big boys, have you ever heard of Max Domi?”

If NJD does get him, I’m going to reserve judgement until I see what they offered. And even then, it could just be a case of SJ valuing NJs prospects more than ours. Nothing we can do about that.

Yeah it’s a foregone conclusion a dman will miss time in the playoffs. You cannot put Coghlan out there. I’m not going to freak out yet, but they do need to do something. I also read an interesting thread on Reddit about significant TDL acquisitions and how they fared in the playoffs. Meier 100% going to NJ now. I STG, if this franchise makes another underwhelming trade like last TDL, I’m going to lose faith in the direction of the team. You cannot take all of these prospects and draft picks with you and we don’t have room for the majority of them as is. The EC was already a bloodbath. Toronto, Boston, NYR, and now NJD have all gotten better. Winning the division isn't guaranteed so playing the Rangers in the 1st round is a very real possibility. What are they doing.

Aho’s contract expires after next year. Necas is a RFA. One of either Pesce or Brady are gone. I hope Aho resigns but there is no guarantee he will.

I think the biggest concern is that the East, which is already a bloodbath, is getting better and we are sitting on the sideline because “we like our group” and are unwilling to make tough decisions. You have to pay to play. If Meier goes to NJ, I really hope DW has something up his sleeve because the same issues that plagued us last year in the playoffs still remain.

Prepare to be disappointed on the trade front.

Yep, another early exit with a piss poor PP and getting bullied in the playoffs isn’t going to go over well with the fans. They better do something with that 10 million that moves the needle.
