  1. While I want a vet starter, don't want to overpay for a guy. Just need a bridge for the young guys, imo.
  2. I hadn't considered the waiver wire option--that could certainly work, but depending on the draft for a starter will be a disaster. I'm not asking for a 15 mil a year contract, just a guy to allow DJ and whoever we draft time to come along. If we'll pay for Jewell, why not a DE? I don't understand that logic.
  3. Plug and Play from a playbook perspective, yes. Not from a physicality standpoint, otherwise I'd say fug it, just draft some guys.
  4. Can you clarify what this means? Does the worst team the previous year get some advantage here? Forgive my ignorance.
  5. No sweat its on topic and reinforces why i asked my question to begin with. I've got no issue with any of those guys in the draft. My point is that they are backups at best as first year players. As of now if Wonnum starts, who's his backup? Dj? OK. Roll the dice. The other side? Chaisson, even in college, was a third down specialist. Who is starting? Him? Laughable. A second rookie? Also laughable. In order to have even competent play we need a mid level player opposite of Wonnum. That allows you to bring these other guys along. Otherwise, why do anything in free agency if you are going to leave such an obvious weakness? We will get smoked on passing downs.
  6. Looking at PFF there are still serviceable (starters) players to be had at the position for 5-10 mil per. Still very nervous about what we are doing there. Draft picks at edge always seem to take longer, even Burns did. So I hope that's not the plan to just depend on the draft.
  7. Yeah, that's why you take these comparisons with a huge grain of salt. Robinson is a solid run stuffer, those other guys? Lol, you know.
  8. Many of you know about this one. https://www.mockdraftable.com/ This allows you to enter a player and get any measurables they've provided through the combine, etc. Also then let's you see comparable (physically) players from the past. I don't put a ton of stock into it, but it's a cool thing to explore if you like data.
  9. Dare I say one of those horses needs to Gallup away from those cowboys.
  10. This man is actually doing some research and im here for it. Good poo
  11. They seem pretty out there, relative to other scouts on him. I've got no idea. Does seem to be consensus that there are a lot number 2 types well into the second round.
  12. Guys on PFF were saying the same thing today.
  13. Yeah, I think we need two pass catchers and a big end and small end. In my mocks DR and Ellis, along with Roman Wilson/McConkey and mitchell/legette/Coleman are four I target often. Tuttle can play the big end I think, but both he and A Rob are older and we need to have their replacements ready, and some quality depth this year. WR we have to just overhaul if Mingo ain't gonna get it.
  14. Fair. But if he has that weakness it doesnt go away, its an athletic trait. I'll eat crow if I'm wrong. Just seems like a huge risk to me. These raw athlete types tend to struggle, even the ones that played sec (the conference I tend to watch since they dominate the league) competition.
  15. Looks like their rating and weaknesses are pretty similar on nfl.com. The mosy alarming for this offense. Below-average quickness getting in and out of his breaks. You've convinced me on Coleman.....now I don't either of them.
  16. If we need an X, I'd rather have Keon Coleman. He seems to have that short area quickness that will work better for the Bryce offense. Still get a physical guy that do contested catches but doesn't need a runway like Legette and Tez Walker to take advantage of their speed.
  17. That's why I've been looking at the OLB recruits like Wilson, Edgerrin Cooper. Those guys can get pressure as stand up LBs. Still not that many of them. But at least some starter types at 33 and 39. Those guys you mentioned will be gone by the 20s most likely. Latu may drop due to injury concern but doubt he makes 33.
  18. Hope we get some extra credit for when Burns gets 150 to keep averaging 8 sacks a year.
  19. man, please let reddick come back. should have never let that child leave in the first place. that would be an absolute homerun.
  20. Yes, I do see them drafting later round developmental guys but carrying 8 is likely the plan. Corbett makes me nervous. We'll learn if he and Icky can carry their weight. Otherwise in 2025, we'll be looking for at least 1 new starter, assuming they don't keep icky for a guard spot, if he fails at tackle.
