Did Scott Fitterer draft any good players?
Jay Roosevelt replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
"Consensus builder" = no conviction and easily manipulated by our last two shitty coaches and our inept owner. -
For football scouts, DJ Burns is a huge "What if?"

I see him as a better fit at DT than OT, but realistically he has no future in the NFL. -
It'd be crazy if we ended up signing Gilmore AND trading for Hassan Reddick.

Tomlin on Diontae as a Panther gives me some anxiety

We have literally next to nothing invested in him. If he becomes a problem this year just don't re-sign him. -
Can ESPN Survive As Cable TV Fades?
Jay Roosevelt replied to jayboogieman's topic in Carolina Panthers
ESPN has little reason to even exist at this point, TBH. It's just the brand now. -
I'd rather draft a kicker, TBH.

if we can come out of the draft with only one of those picks we'll be doing great.

With the 33rd Pick in the NFL Draft
Jay Roosevelt replied to DaveThePanther2008's topic in Carolina Panthers
Depends entirely on the offer and who is on the board. -
I think it'd be a good idea for a team to take a running QB who might not be good enough to be a starter and just make him a short-yardage runner and trick play specialist. Imagine having a QB who could come in at the goal line and on 4th & short and be as effective as Cam Newton was in those situations. He could also be good for some trickery here and there. I guess the closest thing we've seen to this would be Taysom Hill in New Orleans, but he's not nearly the short-yardage runner Cam was or Jalen Hurts or Josh Allen are at QB.

I wouldn't go as far as saying he sucks; there is potential there. But clearly he's more highly thought of by fans and the sports media than he is in actual league circles. Otherwise they could have gotten a LOT more in a trade. My biggest question here is why the Eagles didn't trade for Fields instead of Kenny Pickett? If you're going to trade for a young former 1st round QB with - presumably - some untapped potential left, why not go with the guy who has always had the higher ceiling?

I hope for the sake of the rest of the league KC doesn't get their hands on Xavier Worthy. If I'm an AFC contender picking before #32 like Buffalo or Cincy or Baltimore I'd take Worthy just so the Chiefs can't.

Edge K'Lavon Chaisson to the Panthers
Jay Roosevelt replied to Jackie Lee's topic in Carolina Panthers
Low risk/high reward deal for a former 1st rounder. Nothing wrong with it. -
The only centers I would consider in either the 2nd or 3rd round are Jackson Powers-Johnson (likely gone by #33), Sedrick Van Pran and Zach Frazier. They're the only top-quality pure centers in this class, IMO. Otherwise, I'd focus on WR/TE/EDGE in those rounds and go with Austin Corbett as the center.

BOLD Prediction: Defense will be Better not Worse
Jay Roosevelt replied to WUnderhill's topic in Carolina Panthers
I trust Evero about as much as I ever have any coordinator we've had. He'll figure it out.
