  1. 1) Comparing Rhule's Baylor and Temple teams to the 80s Hurricanes is laughable. Rhule was known more for re-building failed programs than for coaching elite ones. Big difference. 2) Jimmy Johnson built his Dallas dynasty largely via the insane haul from the Herschel Walker trade. No player today short of Patrick Mahomes would net even close to that many picks, much less a RB. Jimmy got a king's ransom for a RB; Rhule traded multiple picks for Sam Darnold. 3) As we saw years later with Barry Switzer, practically any functional coach could have had success with a team as stacked as Dallas in the early 90s.
  2. LT in '22 and tank for Bryce Young in '23.
  3. D.J. Moore should be a no-brainer trade in the offseason, IMO. We could get a 1st rounder from a contender in the 20s for sure. I like him as a player, but our offense is a LONG way from being able to make use of him and any big contract extension would be a luxury we can't afford at this point. Trade him and take the best OL available with the pick, after taking the best OL available in the top-10.
  4. I think he absolutely can be a transcendent NFL talent, particularly with another year at 'Bama to get even better. I generally have not been a big fan of Alabama QBs over the years (I have never been a Tua fan and was lukewarm on Mac Jones) but Bryce Young is far and away the best of the three, IMO. He has everything you look for in a modern NFL franchise QB except ideal size and even then it's not like we haven't seen smaller QBs have a lot of success in the NFL in recent years; Kyler Murray comes to mind. No doubt Alabama is stacked with OL and receiving talent as always, but barring a huge regression next year Young is the best QB prospect they've had during Saban's tenure, IMO.
  5. Is it too early to talk about tanking for Bryce Young in 2023?
  6. We should trade D.J. Moore. We could probably get a late 1st for him.
  7. Very little reason to tank this year with no sure-fire QB to target. As long as we get a top OL prospect like Charles Cross or Tyler Linderbaum (which should be doable in the top-10) I'm good with waiting for a QB next year. With Rhule likely coming back it's not out of the realm of possibility that we end up in position to take a top QB in 2023. Hopefully the OL has improved by then, too.
  8. I like Pickett a lot and would have no issue taking him top-10, but we MUST address the OL before putting a rookie QB on the field.
  9. I've been doing quite a bit of research on Desmond Ridder lately and I'm more impressed than I expected to be. I keep hearing that he's got accuracy issues, but I don't see it. He's got some consistency of accuracy issues at times, but he absolutely can throw an accurate ball. The inconsistency can be worked on. I won't be surprised if he ends up going in the 1st round despite a lot of talk about him being more of a 2nd round prospect.
  10. Having a punter that good is actually a huge advantage as it almost automatically gives you the field position edge in every game. That said, taking a punter (even Ray Guy 2.0) before the 5th or 6th round is a luxury pick we can't afford to make. That said, we did draft a fuging long snapper last year so you never know. I can see some playoff team with a stacked roster and few needs taking him in the 2nd or 3rd round.
  11. You think he fell apart after one week? He looked really solid against Washington. It's no coencedence that the more of this ass juice offense he learns the worse he gets.
  12. Defensive coaches are fine if they bring in someone who can run the offense effectively. Preferably someone old enough that they're not poached for a HC job after a little success.
  13. Daboll or Eberfleus are my picks. I also like Kellen Moore, but his inexperience does give me some pause.
  14. The coaching staff has flat-out lost this team. Time for a reboot.
  15. Brady Christensen made PFF's team of the week as well. Hopefully he'll finally get the starting job.
  16. Not with the extra game this year. I think 9-8 is the likely floor and I'm not sure it won't be possible for an 8-9 team to sneak in under the right set of circumstances. We need to beat MIA, ATL, NO, and win one of the TB/BUF/TB games and we can absolutely still get in. It's entirely possible that the Bucs have clinched everything they can by week 18 and end up resting their starters, too.
  17. How is this on Rhule? So he wasted a timeout; it's not the first time. Rivera would waste timeouts, too. That didn't cost us the game. We had a QB we signed 10 days ago playing a great game and the effort was certainly there on offense and special teams. Unfortunately, the defense laid an egg. I still am MUCH more optimistic coming off this loss than I was coming off the win over Atlanta a few weeks ago because the defense isn't going to play this poorly on a regular basis. On the other hand, we actually have a real NFL-caliber starting QB, which we haven't been able to say in a long while.
  18. This loss is on the defense. Cam played very well, especially considering he only signed 10 days ago. The OL was even decent overall. The D needed to step up against a backup QB and couldn't get the job done. To quote an old friend, "it is what it is."
  19. That poo ought to be illegal. I don't know how celebrities deal with that.
  20. Next to bringing Cam back Shaq's play has been the biggest surprise on the season, IMO.
  21. I just can't understand why they won't play Brady Christensen. He can't possibly be any worse than Daley.
