  1. Or does he just have the best QB in college football throwing to him? Drake Maye is everything the UNC homers were convinced Sam Howell was as an NFL prospect.
  2. Kyler Murray is 5'10". Russell Wilson is 5'11". Drew Brees was listed at 6'0" but I'll bet you anything was a little below that. I'm not saying it's not an advantage for a QB to be taller, but it's also not something that is going to make them good on its own. If Bryce Young measures at 5'10" or 5'11" at the combine is that one inch REALLY the difference between him being a potential Drew Brees vs. a potential Baker Mayfield? And if he measures at 6'0" does that mean he's now safe to take in the top-5? All I'm saying is: look at everything he does well before writing him off because of an inch or two.
  3. Again, does him being 2 inches taller and 10 pounds heavier really make THAT much difference? That's the ultimate in nitpicking.
  4. Lord. Please quit with the Max Duggan hype. He's a JAG if I've ever seen one, and I don't mean he's headed for Jacksonville. 2nd round QBs rarely pan (do some research; it's probably the worst round to draft a QB in that you have any hope of actually starting one day) and I'm not even sure Duggan ends up going that high anyway. The hype surrounding Duggan reminds me of all those people who wanted us to take Carson "UDFA" Strong in the 1st round last draft. I do like Quinten Johnston, though.
  5. My take on the Bryce Young size debate... If you think his size will affect his ability to play QB at a high level then you pass on him. If your concern is that he's too small to stay healthy in the NFL... well, you just can't draft scared and I think his skills easily negate any concerns over his size. Thing is... he's going to add weight/bulk once he starts training for the draft. He can get up to 210 at least, possibly up to 215. Now, he can't grow taller of course, but if he were 6'1 and 210 you'd have FAR fewer people worried about his size. He can add the weight. My question is this: is 3 inches of height really the difference in this guy being a sucessful NFL QB or not? Who actually believes that? Don't overthink it. Don't nitpick. Don't look past what's standing right in front of you. Bryce Young is the best QB in this draft. If we're in a position to do so, we NEED to take him.
  6. I've been very pleasantly surprised how well he's played in pass protection. We saw him lay guys out in the run game coming out of college, but I didn't think his pass pro would be this good this early.
  7. People around here are so desperate they really think Wilks/Walker is the long-term answer. It's better than Rhule, but let's not kid ourselves here.
  8. Wilks has done a great job so far under the circumstances, but at the end of the day I'd still like to move on. The young QB/offensive-minded HC combo is our best bet to be contenders in the long-term. Give me Bryce Young and Shane Steichen.
  9. That Kentucky/Tennessee game has pretty much solidified it for me: 1. Bryce Young 2. BIG GAP... 3. C.J. Stroud 4. Everyone else
  10. The way I look at it we're going to draft a QB next year high in the 1st round regardless. The only question is do we have to give up a bunch of picks to trade up to get him or do we end up picking top-3/5 from the start. I'll never root against this team; it's just not in me. But I can't help but to feel like it's by far in our best interest to not have to give up a bunch of picks to trade up for Will Levis, C.J. Stroud, or Bryce Young. At this point I guess I'm just along for the ride. It'll be what it ends up being. At least Rhule is gone.
  11. I'm coming to the same conclusion. At some point the talent is just too good to let a few inches/pounds get in the way.
  12. If need be we have to trade up. But there's still a long way to go before the draft order is settled.
  13. Boggles my mind how we just signed Anderson off the street before week 1 and now teams apparently want to give up picks for him.
  14. I will say, Stroud did bounce back really well yesterday after facing some adversity. But again, OSU clearly is light years ahead of Iowa in terms of high-end talent.
  15. Man... watching those Iowa QBs was almost as bad as watching our passing game against the Rams.
  16. HC: Shane Steichen OC: Pep Hamilton DC: Vic Fangio
  17. Stroud is #3 on the list for me behind Young and Levis. I just can't decide whether I'd rather us go with the guy who has everything BUT size or the guy with the traits and upside but who isn't as good a pure passer right out the gate. Right now I'd probably lean toward Levis, but it'll also depend on who we hire as head coach. If it's someone with a history of actually developing good QBs Levis makes more sense. If it's someone who doesn't then I'd rather take the QB who already has a good chunk of the mental stuff down. Stroud just... bothers me. I watch him play and despise obviously being a good player I just feel like I'm watching a good college QB who doesn't look like an NFL player. I watch Levis and I see him make NFL throws against SEC competition. Even if there's room for improvement reading defenses, I see a guy dealing with heavy pressure and still making throws that NFL QBs are required to make. I watch Bryce Young and I see a guy who has full command of the offense. A guy with a plenty good enough arm who plays big despite his size and is mentally WELL ahead of not just the other QBs in this class but probably every QB prospect going back at least a couple years. A guy who can not just read the defense but also manipulate it in ways few QBs can coming out of college. While Alabama is obviously very talented the OL and WRs aren't nearly what they've been traditionally this year and Young has performed despite it, and against SEC competition. I watch Stroud and it's like I'm watching a guy going through the motions against clearly inferior competition. That's not to say he CAN'T do more, but it makes him a much tougher projection to the pros than either Young or Levis. There's nothing wrong with the guy, but you do wonder how he'll react to adversity once he gets to the NFL and doesn't have a team around him that is light years more talented than his opponents.
  18. I'm pretty sure just cutting Shaq would clear up like $12M.
  19. I mean... our offense has been awful with him.
  20. I believe him. I mean, it's not like they can just call up Payton and ask him. Using someone like Glazier as a go-between would make sense. And as I've said from the start: fug giving up ANYTHING to a division rival just to hire a new head coach.
