Dean Jones from CatCrave on Panthers #1 pick

Another day, another report. -
JT O'Sullivan's QB Rankings for 2023
Jay Roosevelt replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
This. I don't care how small Bryce Young is, the man dominated at the highest level of competition possible in college football against other players that will be - or have already been - drafted highly. Stop nitpicking and look beyond the size at the insane talent level this guy has. -
JT O'Sullivan's QB Rankings for 2023
Jay Roosevelt replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I'd put Hooker over Levis, but it's close. Otherwise I agree with his rankings. -
Inside the NFL leaving CBS/Showtime/Paramount+
Jay Roosevelt replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
At this point I really don't know why the NFL doesn't just open their own streaming service. Even if it doesn't include live games (they'll still want that network TV money, for sure) shows like Inside the NFL, NFL Top-10, A Football Life, America's Game, and a huge library of classic NFL Films content would be well worth a $5-$8 per month subscription to many fans. I'd LOVE to be able to go back and stream past drafts in full as they originally aired, or classic games in their original broadcast format. -
Bryce Young has plenty of arm strength. I don't know where that narrative comes from. Stroud's is a little stronger, but let's not act like Young has a noodle arm. Also, the narrative that Stroud's accuracy is somehow head and shoulders above Young is misleading as well. He's more accurate, yes, but it's not like Young isn't close. And on the run he's probably more accurate. I certainly wouldn't have a problem with us drafting C.J. Stroud, but I think a lot of people here are majorly discounting what a special talent Bryce Young is due to his size.

The way I look at it is this: if Young were Stroud's height/weight he would be the unquestionable #1 QB in this draft and one of the best prospects in the last 3-4 years. That being the case, if the only reason he isn't that is because of 5 inches and 15 pounds, the question becomes to me: how important are those inches/pounds, REALLY? To me, not important enough to not draft a guy who ticks literally every other box there is to tick.

I mean, double zero...

Draft Wish list!! prospects not talked about..

1. Xavier Smith, Florida A&M 2. DeWayne McBride, UAB 3. Daiyan Henley, LB, Washington State 4. Jarrod Clark, DT, Coastal Carolina -
This is the guy I want us to trade back up into the 1st round to get. It'd be well worth it to give up our 2nd and 3rd (and even a later round pick) to move up and get him. He's going to be a stud.

Probably my busiest yet. Panthers trade down with Houston, picking up #33 this year and a 3rd rounder next year...

Looking at Success or Failure of top 10 to 12 QBs since 2000
Jay Roosevelt replied to Hoenheim's topic in Carolina Panthers
This is exactly what worries me with the Young/Stroud debate. History tells us at least one of them is likely not going to pan out and of course there's always the possibility we're looking at a Carr/Harrington situation where both will end up being busts. How far back do we have to go to find a draft with 2 top QBs competing to be the #1 overall pick where both ended up being studs? You could make an argument for 2012 with Luck and RG3, but obviously RG3's injury derailed his career so we'll never know. Probably the best example is 2004 with Eli Manning and Philp Rivers, but there were also unique circumstances since Eli outright said he didn't want to play for the Chargers. -

Reported asking price from Raiders for #1
Jay Roosevelt replied to Peon Awesome's topic in Carolina Panthers
It had to be done. -
Keenan Allen? Tyler Boyd? Michael Pittman? Stefon Diggs? Tyler Lockett?

I agree. You look at the way all these new contracts are structured with low cap hits this year and the fact that they're still doing restructures it does seem to indicate that they're at least going to attempt to do something with that cap space beyond just signing a few more backups in free agency.

Presumably, yes. He could probably be had for a 3rd, but the contract may be the bigger hurdle.

Marc Ryan - "Carolina Zeroed in on Stroud and Richardson"
Jay Roosevelt replied to CPcavedweller's topic in Carolina Panthers
All of these "sources" tweets are probably bullshit. Nobody really knows. That said, I do think that ultimately it's C.J. Stroud. -
I'd say that's pretty accurate. But that's also a big "if."
