Interesting. He does have experience there.

Way too early to know what the QB class will look like, but if nothing else Shedeur Sanders should be an option. Or hopefully Bryce shows some life and we can use that pick on a pass rusher or WR.
-
Honestly... and this will be unpopular around here, I know... but fug the defense right now. We all know we're not winning this year. Build the best OL and WR corp possible and Bryce either sinks or swims in year 2 under Dave Canales. If he sinks, we'll probably be picking top-3 and at least we'll have a good OL and some weapons for the QB we draft to replace him. If he swims, we go into 2025 with some cap space and draft picks we can use to re-build the defense knowing we've got the pieces on offense.

Yeah... I'm not losing sleep over this one. He finally showed some promise last year but that's too much for the definition of a JAG.

Ooof. Thank God we weren't in on that one.

Hopefully it means BC is now a backup. He'd be a hugely useful depth piece to have considering he can play either tackle or guard spot. Having a quality backup swing OL like that can make a huge difference over the course of a season.

I could honestly see Corbett being gone before Moton.

Panthers sign Dolphins RG Robert Hunt

I need to see the Panthers making a move on the OL pretty soon here...

I feel like all these releases tell us a lot about how Dan Morgan views some of the moves made by Scott Fitterer.

Purging the Fitterer era one contract at a time...

One is among the elite players at his position, the other is a good - sometimes even great - player who wants to be paid like he's elite. If you're going to pay elite player money, just make sure you're giving it to an elite player.

It never ceases to amaze me how highly-drafted QB busts always find teams willing to try rehabbing them despite the success rate on those type of reclamation projects being nearly zero. How many times has this actually worked in the last 30 years? I get it for teams that need a backup like the 49ers did; that makes sense. But for teams looking for a starting QB to actually think they can take a guy who has failed to live up to the hype after 4+ years in the league and turn them into a quality starter just reeks of arrogance on the part of the HC and/or desperation or naivety (or both) on the part of the GM.

I'd be terrified to pay Baker that much with Canales no longer there.

Panthers now looking at pick 33 for center?

Jackson Powers-Johnson would be an outstanding pick, but I have my doubts that he'll be there at #33. A team like Buffalo will snatch him up before we pick. -
Jeremy Fowler: Panthers to go after QB Drew Lock

I think this is more connecting the dots to Canales rather than reporting inside info. -
Mike Kaye: Panthers going after starting C

None more so than the interior OL. -

Well, they at least seem to have the right positions targeted. We'll see if they can actually get anything done. -
If we get Brian Thomas, Jr. at #33 it would be insane.
-
Honestly, Ian Thomas has done more than Hurst ever did. And that's not saying much.
-
Extend him, trade him; just get it over with already. He should be traded ASAP if we don't intend to extend him or don't think we can get a deal done. We don't need that much cap space tied up all offseason unless we plan to have him on the field this year. Otherwise we need the cap space to sign a replacement.
