  1. This. At least Ickey has shown flashes; Neal has been completely awful.
  2. I mean, I get why those guys are here; they were here when Reich got here (minus Zavala) and had played well last year. The question is why we opted to switch blocking schemes when it should have been obvious that our players aren't suited for it. You shouldn't dismantle your OL purely because of a scheme change (assuming the line has shown they can perform in one scheme) you just don't change schemes.
  3. I'm not saying Bryce hasn't played poorly. What I'm saying is the entire offense around him has as well. Bryce has been bad. The OL has been bad. The receivers have been bad, Thielen aside. The RBs have been bad. The scheme is bad. The players are bad and mismatched; so are the coaches. All I'm saying is ANY rookie QB is likely to struggle when literally everything around him is bad. That's not an excuse; it's a fact. Bryce has to be better, but so does the team and coaching around him.
  4. Based on his play earlier this year, the only blocking scheme Chandler Zavala is suited for involves legos.
  5. If his footwork is so bad why isn't the coaching staff addressing it? That is something that should absolutely be fixable.
  6. Y'all act like Andy Dalton is Tom Brady or something. Any QB is going to struggle behind this OL with these receivers and no run game, especially against Dallas.
  7. I doubt this offense would look semi-competent against Dallas if we had Mahomes at QB.
  8. This is ignored by a large segment of the Huddle, but heading into the draft it's not like we were the only team that had Bryce Young as the #1 QB prospect. He may not have been the 100% consensus #1 around the league, but he was viewed that way by a significant majority of the league. This notion that if we hadn't taken Bryce that he would have dropped out of the 1st round or even out of the top-5 is just nonsense. It certainly appears that we should have taken C.J. Stroud at this point, but if that does end up being the case long-term then let's not pretend that the Panthers were the only team that would have made the mistake.
  9. People bitch about Bryce over Stroud, but how about Mingo over Dell?
  10. They're not just unafraid of being beat deep, they're not afraid of our receivers being able to do anything after the catch either. Between the OL being forced into a zone blocking scheme that they're just not suited for and trying to run a quick strike passing game with slow possession receivers we're pretty well fuged. I'll admit Bryce can certainly play a lot better, but this is a situation that would be tough for any QB to perform in.
  11. This is an ignorant statement made to support your anti-Bryce bias. Deep passing is down league-wide. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38378450/nfl-death-long-passing-deep-ball-aerial-yards-negative-trend Go watch the Chiefs, Dolphins, 49ers, etc. Most of the top offenses in the league are based on short, quick passing games in one form or another. Next time try to bother actually knowing something about what you're talking about before you post more of your smart-ass nonsense.
  12. This x 1,000. Too many cooks in the kitchen. There's nothing wrong with wanting to run a quick passing game; most of today's top offenses are running something similar (KC, Miami, 49ers) but we simply don't have the personnel to run it correctly. You need quick, agile receivers and RBs to run that kind of offense. We have an aging slot receiver who wasn't particularly fast in his prime, one straight-line speed guy in Chark, and a big possession guy in Mingo. Not to mention our OL is being forced into a zone blocking scheme that doesn't suit them either. If the coaching staff is too many cooks in the kitchen, the personnel on offense is that x 100.
  13. Dallas against our OL... he might end up with more than a sprained ankle. I don't see anything good coming from this game.
  14. Man, I actually feel bad for the Giants. And that's saying something coming from a Panthers fan right now.
  15. No, because I know 'what if?' He'd look like ass here just the same as any QB would.
  16. George Washington Abraham Lincoln Alexander Hamilton Andrew Jackson Ulysses S. Grant Benjamin Franklin
  17. Those aren't God awful stats under the circumstances, but you'd certainly like to see more from the #1 overall pick, especially with C.J. Stroud playing out of his mind in Houston. The problem going forward in terms of giving him a better supporting cast is the regression we've seen from the OL. If they were playing like last year we could focus on adding receiving targets and maybe a talented young RB in the draft and be in pretty good shape. However, we MUST get the OL to a point where it's able to protect Bryce at an average level at least. Whether that's switching to a new blocking scheme or adding talent or both. My ideal scenario would be to switch back to a scheme that better fits our talent up front, make Brady Christensen the "6th man" so to speak, who will be our key depth player who is able to play either guard or tackle spot, and sign the best free agent guard available to start. But that depends on Ickey being the answer at LT and on the scheme change benefiting both him and Bozeman. Plus, the list of free agent guards for next year isn't especially impressive. I also think we should seriously entertain offers for Brian Burns, both to recoup draft picks but also so we can use that cap space to address the offense. Either way, hopefully it won't be Scott Fitterer making these decisions.
  18. I guarantee you Tepper isn't making decisions on who we draft in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th rounds. That's on Fitterer.
  19. I can't fathom why they're trying to force this OL into a zone blocking unit.
