Florio pointed out, a bit jokingly but said he does wonder about what the TB ownership group might be thinking right now regarding Canales. Would they ever think of firing Bowles in order to keep Canales (ala Dirk Koetter)? It seems unlikely but losing someone they may view in high regard in division might make people do crazy things.

I'd be fine with Johnson, MacDonald, Eviro, Slowik, Canales, Callahan etc, but I can't get on board with Raheem Morris. Just seems like such an underwhelming hire, already was a HC and failed, his biggest selling point is who he could bring with him (Didnt we just see that experiment?) I dont want a HC who can bring stars with him, I want the HC to be the main draw. His unit in LA isn't even that good, its just middle of the pack.

Pretty confident its gonna be Dan Morgan GM

Isnt that sort of Samir's role currently? -
If you interview coaches in person between the NFC/AFC championship and superbowl, is it common for hirings to be announced before they play the superbowl? I cant remember how it usually plays out lol
-
I hope we land him, but feels like such a longshot if I look at it objectively from Johnson's point of view. Washington he will get to choose his QB, new owner who hasnt made a fool of himself, already has a decent team. I suppose Tepper could offer a ton of money, but how much more would he have to pay? lol
-
I wonder when the first hire will happen, feels like Johnson might hold up the whole thing.
-
Yeah, that's what I would guess as well, unless he get's the idea that Ben is going elsewhere I guess.
-
Think theres any chance they end up hiring one of Canales, Eviro, Slowik, Callahan etc without waiting for a second interview with MacDonald or Ben Johnson?
-
I like MacDonald, Morris is an extremely underwhelming candidate imo. I don’t like retreads but a retread who wasn’t good before? No thanks. His unit in LA isn’t even that good.
-
Im fine with Jonhson or Slowik, although I feel like both might go elsewhere. If they do, I do wonder if Tepper has the patience to wait for McDonald, it might be another few weeks if the Ravens keep winning. I fear if he loses Slowik/Johnson he wont wait and go with someone like Raheem Morris or Frank Smith
-
Yeah I was high in him before this, he’s impressive. The guy just looks like a head coach from a leadership standpoint, has hopefully learned from being around Harbaugh and the Ravens organization and seems smart from a game plan standpoint.

I think this is the first time I have seen the inside of Ford Field, it looks pretty sweet honestly.

I used to be of the mindset that if you draft a good QB, and hes got what it takes, he will be fine starting from Day 1 no matter what, and that sitting guys for a year or two to develop just delays you finding out if hes the guy, but I have to say, the way that GB seems to find good ones and develop them behind the starter is something that seems to work. Either they are very good at identifying QBs or they have some secret sauce.
-
Whoever is chosen, I just hope Tepper doesn't idolize them and put undo pressure and expectations on them. I fear who he will compare Ben Johnson to if he called Matt Rhule 'his Chuck Knoll'. I hate the whole Chuck Knoll or 'I want the next coach to say the eulogy at my funeral', even if it was said in jest, I think part of his problem is seeing these guys as saviors that are going to fix everything for him.

Is Champ Kelly a well regarded candidate? I know what team you work for isnt everything, but seems like mostly Raiders/Bears, not exactly top tier franchises lately.
-
Is anyone else confused why Raheem Morris is being so widely talked about as some hot candidate? He wasn't great his first go around and just seems underwhelming. His Rams defense is pretty middle of the pack, it makes no sense other than it being a Rooney Rule candidate.

Official final game of this wretched season GameDay thread

Lol Terrace Marshall, what a bum. Guy actually thought he had showed enough for another team to trade for him? He cant even line up right. -
I think the path forward is actually really simple. You draft oline/WR in round 2, you bring in a FA WR, and you let Bryce start next year. If he's improved, great, if hes like he his this year, you will have a top 5 pick and you go QB again. Gone are the days of giving QBs 3-4 years, thats just not the reality. How many recently turn out good if they arent solid players in year 2?

Lol Sam Franklin already stirring the pot -
If you were GM, how would you use our that first pick in round 2?
Samppson replied to SCO96's topic in Carolina Panthers
The notion that free agents wont come to Carolina, or any other not so ideal place is just never true. Sure, you probably aren't getting the aging vet looking for one last chance at a ring, but in almost all cases, the free agent signs where the money is best, regardless. Obviously they compare two situations if the money is the same, but these guys have short careers, they will go where the money is. -
Yeah its true, I remember all the people making fun of Nick Sirianni cause he had awkward answers at his introductory press conference, same with McDaniels, kind of an awkward dude, but a hell of a coach. Our ownership gets swept away by fluff answers and pretty responses it seems.

I’m about 78% sure Kellen Moore will be the next head coach

Where do we think Thomas Brown ends up? Back with the Rams? -
I'm not opposed to a defensive coach, I think there's some advantages to it, as less of them get HC jobs so it should in theory be easier to get the best of the best on the defensive side. I'm just surprised that when mentioning defensive HC candidates, you didn't mention the one right in front of our eyes in Evero, guy is a stud, what he's doing with an very injured defense and an inept offense is spectacular imo.
-
I don't know, it feels like that "culture" left for Tampa Bay and won a Superbowl. Maybe a change of scenery would help, but I think Bill is done, If we wanted to go the defensive route, give me Eviro.

Nah you are right, I guess I was confusing regular ol playaction from shotgun for RPO
