Good breakdown, probably the most positive of Bryce of all the breakdowns so far, but still pointed out the bad throws/mistakes. He seemed overall super happy and said it multiple times that this is what we were expecting to see more of coming out of Alabama. One game, but definitely a step forward
-
He gets cut off at 15 seconds of the playclock, after that, what else is he doing besides watching the clock? Every head coach does it
-
How does a HC not take a time out there, everyone in the stadium saw the playclock ticking down except him, its crazy

Sorry if this been posted somewhere, I searched and didn't see it but wanted to pass it along. Luke was on Dale Jr's podcast talking about his journey, thought some people here might enjoy it.

I started following football around the time of the Carson Palmer trade to the Cardinals, so not sure how he was prior, but I remember people saying he had a late career resurgence. Was he always pretty good or would he fit the mold?

I wouldnt say so matter of factly Bryce gets another shot. I dont expect Dalton to throw for 300 yards and 3 TDs each game, but if hes playing remotely solid, theres no chance you can bring Bryce in at this point.

Another post-mortem of Bryce in Charlotte
Samppson replied to BrisbanePanther's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was in the same boat, although everyone knew he wasnt the most physically gifted athlete, but I guess one thing I didnt expect was the lack of perceived growth physically. I sort of assumed he was never going to be ripped, but I guess I assumed he would at least work at it more in the off season, maybe bulk up a bit, speed train etc, like most athletes do. This guy looks like the same kid we drafted 2 years ago, not one thats been in an NFL strength, conditioning, and nutrition program as his full time job with no other school distractions, etc. -
I feel like this is a sentiment I used to hold, but at some point we have to take a look in the mirror. Every QB that has left here has thrived and done way better. Eventually we have to be ok admitting that its us and hope things are different going forward lol.
-
Yeah, unfortunately he was sold as the most pro-ready guy out of all the prospects, but in hindsight, he didn't have elite physical tools to fall back on to let him survive. I truly think its a different story if he sits a year, with this new line and decent receivers, I think he would be much better. I think last year totally broke him.

Wheres Marty Hurney at these days? Guy was incredible in the first round, should just bring him back as a First Round consultant
-
Yep, I think whether he came out and said it or not, its easy to get a read who your "boss" wants, and be swayed that way. I think Bryce crushed it at that dinner, hes well spoken, super likeable, just the sort of guy Tepper would fall for, while Stroud isnt nearly as polished speaking wise. I do think its strange how the whole S2 thing happened, like apparently Bryce had been taking S2's since highschool practicing them lol, I guess at least the S2 test is probably dead now, it certainly doesnt seem to translate at all. Bunch of snake oil that of course our owner bought into.

Assuming it's done do you select a qb this year or wait?
Samppson replied to Panthero's topic in Carolina Panthers
The only issue with the build the team, have a vet QB man the helm until you draft a rookie, is you are going to probably be good enough with said vet/middle of the road QB to win like 5-8 games a year, and sure, you can find franchise QBs in that range, but with how QB hungry teams are, you are getting the 4th/5th QB off the board in most cases, which complicates things. I think the situation last year was bad, but it also is made look way worse by how bad Young was. Everyone talked about how bad the Texan's would be and how Stroud was going to have no chance, and magically their situation looked much better once you got a guy in there who could play. Andy Dalton made the situation look fine in Seattle, in a game where they had like 10 false start penalties as well. The o-line is much improved this season, and we have decent receivers, good enough where if you get a QB who can play, I think it looks much different. -
Smitty on the 2024 WR Draft Class (w/cliffnotes)
Samppson replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
Lol, its crazy that people after all this time still downplay DJ. He consistently put up 1000 yard seasons with some of the worst QB play imaginable, and then goes to Chicago where WRs go to die and puts up almost 1400 yards. Is he a top 3 WR? No, but its not like he was a top ten pick, if you can get a DJ Moore late in the 1st round you would take that everytime. -
We are in no position to get rid of our best and most dependable guy on the line in Moton. Hes rock solid and never misses games. 30m is a huge cap number, so Id imagine they find a way to re-work the deal so both sides are happy. That is literally what Tillis is supposedly great at.

Yep, if for not anything else to help rebuild our reputation with coaches in the league. I don't think it was the wrong choice to can Reich, it was a disaster and that man had no juice left, but now is the time to at least give Canales 3 years. If you are going to hire a younger guy, theres going to be some growing pains a long the way. If in a few years its not turned around, then at least you showed you are willing to see it through.

I saw he responded to Panthers Culture on twitter. I hope for his own mental health he stays off Panthers Twitter going forward lol, its not a good place.
-
Any word on his introductory press conference? Do they probably wait until after this weekends games?
-
That makes sense, his best bet for having success is probably here, in year 2 with his defense rather than starting fresh somewhere else. Will hopefully have a healthier defense as well, so I guess from his point of view, if hes looking to be a HC he probably stands to have the best chance here if he has a good year 2.
-
Yeah, my only concern with Evero is its now the second time you have passed over him for HC, I know if I was working at a place and two years in a row I went for a role and they chose someone else, I feel like I might harbor some resentment. Hes a professional, but he may want a fresh start somewhere else... but yeah Im not sure how thats usually handled. I know "technically" he cant go elsewhere if its a lateral move, but if hes unhappy, I dont think thats how you want to start things off.

"Only one year of coordinator experience"
Samppson replied to UNCrules2187's topic in Carolina Panthers
Yes, Reich felt like he was looking for an easy gig at the end of his career, I think that may have been Tepper's plan all along, have Reich bring along Thomas Brown then retire... unfortunately, Reich seemed exhausted and done. -
You keep Evero on as DC unless he gets a HC job, if he leaves after this year you get a comp pick.
-
Thats definitely someone who will come in and create a culture, and hold players accountable. My only concern is the offensive side of the ball. Maybe Arthur Smith comes with him? He probably wont be in line for any HC gigs anytime soon, so maybe he would stay for awhile.
-
I have a bad feeling about letting Evero out the door, it just feels like hes going to be successful and he was right here.
