  1. Right? He didn't really have a chance to develop a young guy. Signed on thinking he had Andrew luck for the next 5 years, then he retired out of the blue, right before the season started so they scrambled and held the team together with duct tape and Jacoby Brisset for a year. Then they got old man Rivers to take them to the playoffs, then they had Carson Wentz, and this past year they've had the corpse of Matt Ryan. All things considered, they did alright. Much like Wilks. I think Reich has the higher upside and would be able to put together a better staff. I'm not against it by any means.
  2. Pinned this one because stuff is happening again and this is cleaner (for now)
  3. I know it sucks waiting and speculating but I'm glad they're actually doing their due diligence this time around. Gun to my head, it's coming down to Reich or Wilks. And after this month long process of trying to find out who the HC is, I'll be content with whoever they choose, because it will be obvious that that person has a plan/good idea for a staff in mind.
  4. Only so many ways you can talk about something big that doesn't change over the course of a month.
  5. Counter Argument: Steelers: They had their backup in Trubisky starting and we let them methodically march down the field letting them do whatever they wanted multiple times. Wasn't so much the team wasn't executing, that to me says the gameplan was weak. Baltimore: Sure, that was a close one and we just didn't have the gas in the tank in terms of talent to take us home. Defense played really well that game. Bengals: Woof Bucs: 3 times we let Mike Evans score long TDs on the right side of the field while one on one with no help over the top. If that doesn't scream inability to adapt, I don't know what does.
  6. I don't really want Wilks to be the HC but I can't pin the Ram's game on him. They had just fired Rhule and Snow, that is a significant shakeup to the team. Still trying to get his footing that game. He gets a pass from me there. The Pittsburgh, Bucs 2, Baltimore, and Bengals we all got outcoached. Just realized we got swept by the AFCN this season, closest game being the one rhule coached. If Wilks' team identity was tough and physical, then the division to prove that against was the AFCN and we failed miserably at that.
  7. you will get 200 more pages of absolutely no substance and like it.
  8. Thread is being locked. New Thread can be found here:
  9. As things Currently stand, we have interviewed the following: Steve Wilks Jim Caldwell Frank Reich Sean Payton Shane Steichen Ken Dorsey Mike Kafka Ejiro Evero Kellen Moore The following have spurned us and we are now big mad at them: Ben Johnson Demeco Ryans Jerrod Mayo We have requested interviews with the following but they have not happened yet: Kellen Moore (Scheduled Tuesday) A Summary of the first thread: Fit said it would be a small pool of candidates* *It was not a small pool of candidates Wilks interviewed and no one knows for sure who he would hire as OC but Holcomb would stay as DC We requested interviews from damn near everyone with a pulse who is a young up and coming OC Ben Johnson, local hero, decided Detroit is better and will stay with the lions next year Fanbase had a collected sad about this and now Ben Johnson sucks. Harbaugh used us to get more money from Michigan rippadon is big mad. Loves Harbaugh almost as much as Carson Strong Wildcard Weekend happens Stock up: Kafka, Ryans, Moore Stock Down: Dorsey No Change: Wilks, Reich, Caldwell Sean Payton has entered the chat Fanbase divided. Lines in sand are drawn. Buttholes across the fanbase pucker to the same shape as the one on Payton's face. Speculation about speculating speculators regarding us hiring him. We would have to give up more draft capital to get him than any other team since we are within the division We interviewed some seasoned candidates like Vic Fangio to be the DC in the event we hire a young OC to be the next HC Fanbase is collectively OK with this. Tragic death of Anton Walkes of Charlotte FC temporarily pauses the search over the weekend Props are given to Tepper for doing the right thing Division Weekend happens Stock up: Steichen, Ryans, Payton Stock Down: Moore, Dorsey, Kafka No change: Wilks, Caldwell, Reich Broncos seem to really want Payton too. Payton is weighing his options between all available openings because he can. Round two of interviews would happen next week. A shorter summary of the search: Link to the last thread: Please keep the discussions about the potential coaches, hirings, rumblings, stumblings, and bumblings. 10. I'm going to lock this thread at some point tonight and get a part 2 going. Too much crap to sift through over 187 pages.
  11. That's how I look at it too. The coaches make those changes, but they aren't drawing up plays on the fly. They're the ones making the adjustments behind the scenes if you will, and then the players get told to execute the plays relayed to them, which would be different choices from the already established pool of 60 or so plays that week. So if say, your backup CBs were getting beat over the top by mike evans with no safety help, a good coach might look at that and say "Hmm, might want to keep a safety over on Evans' side of the field in case they go deep to him again." Just as a totally random example.
  12. Not really Moore's fault though, no? They're best RB went down so they had to lean on their franchise QB earning 40 Mil per year to get the job done. And he threw 2 egregious picks with 2 or 3 others that should also have been picked. Dak was making all the wrong reads last night.
  13. Welp, let's also be real here, He's Payton friggin Manning. There's no OC in the world that was going to tell him what "adjustments" needed to be made because he already knew it. I honestly can't believe that there aren't coaches out there who look at the data of what is and isn't working so far, and start calling more plays that attack the middle of the field/get the ball out quicker due to an injury on the line/running the ball more, whatever it may be based on the current situation of the game. You may have 60 plays available for the game, but if all the outside run plays aren't working, you should have the wherewithal to not continuously spam those outside runs the rest of the game and "adjust" what you may call in similar situations in the second half. I'm not talking complete gameplan changes on the fly, I'm talking identifying what is and isn't working for the week's gameplan, and ignoring the plays that aren't working the rest of the game.
  14. That last play was cheeks, but Moore did not call a bad game at all. Dak played TERRIBLY.
  15. Pulling for San Fran next week so we can finally interview Steichen in person.
  16. I think on the player's side, there's no adjustments, but on the coaching side, they all get together, regroup, talk about what's working and what isn't, and then make adjustments with playcalling for the next half. Then it's up to the players to execute those plays.
  17. That was last year. They hired him in the offseason and did a complete 180.
  18. You could also make the argument that some of the best offensive minds in football recognized something special in him.
  19. That's him playing better than he ever has before, but it's not balling out. That roster was EXTREMELY limited in terms of personnel and they managed to make the post season.
