Front office/scouting staff changes
Ricky Spanish replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
Honestly fine with it. FO offseason and Team offseasons don't line up and this team's FA acquisitions have been absolutely crap the past 5+years. Yes the GM signs the guys but he's relying on the info from the scouts. No love lost on my end. Hope the next guys we bring in are better. -
Where would the Panthers be if they sat Bryce Young last season?
Ricky Spanish replied to hepcat's topic in Carolina Panthers
I still don't see how people think Dalton ran the offense "So much better than Bryce". It was better, don't get me wrong, but it was for one game against one of the worst defenses in the league when he threw for 360 yards (47 of which came on a busted coverage) off of 60 passes (which is the lowest YPA of his career btw), completed less than 60% of said passes, and we still got blown out. I'm sure we would have won 1 or 2 more games at MOST, but he wasn't going to fix everything wrong with that offense last season. The offense as a whole was absolutely poo regardless of who the QB would have been, yes, even Stroud. Probably would have looked better, but it still would have sucked and been a complete clusterfug due to all the cooks in the kitchen and Reich and co would have still been rightly fired.- 189 replies

Panthers Select Xavier Legette WR - Pick 32, Round 1
Ricky Spanish replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
That is extremely interesting. I am big on data so I love stuff like this. Why do we keep drafting these kinds of dudes? -
He's honestly not bad at all. Self-aware enough to know when to shut the hell up and not say something stupid unlike the other two. Matt Ryan as a commentator is fine in my book. But fuck the falcons

Another reason to root for UDFA Jalan Coker
Ricky Spanish replied to Ricky Spanish's topic in Carolina Panthers
I have no clue if the kid will even make the team odds are against him, but I'm rooting for him. He has his foot in the door and a great opportunity thanks to the less than stellar WR corp we have. It's fun to root for the underdog. The draft is football Christmas where all the fans get shiny new players on their team. Good UDFAs are like the presents your parents forgot they hid away and give to you a few days later once they realize their mistake. Coker could be a Nerf blaster dude, you know how bad we want one of those. Don't scrooge up my football Christmas dog. -

Fast 10 yard split (#4 in the class) Huge Verticle (#1 in the class) Great Broad Jump (#9 in the class) Good hand size and arm length. Dude isn't a burner but he's explosive. None of those are NFL traits though. -
I haven't been this excited for a UDFA since Norwell.

There's plenty of room on the Coker bus for everyone. Glad others are excited for him too.

Panthers Select Jonathan Brooks RB - 46th Pick, Round 2
Ricky Spanish replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
From what I've read from Colts fans, Zone blocking isn't bad, but Frank's version is overly complicated and hard on lineman. I think it will be better by default, but can't say definitely how much. Certainly can't get much worse. -
Panthers Select Jonathan Brooks RB - 46th Pick, Round 2
Ricky Spanish replied to Bear Hands's topic in Carolina Panthers
I was initially on the get rid of Sanders train but I've been convinced to eat the poo sandwich that Fitt gave us. Monetarily it makes no sense to get rid of him, he has experience, and his replacement is coming off a significant knee injury so we can ease him back without urgency so he can get completely healthy. On top of that, RBs get hurt all the time so it doesn't hurt to have Sanders in case Chuba goes down before Brooks is ready. -

In the 2nd Round of the 2025 NFL Draft....
Ricky Spanish replied to chknwing's topic in Carolina Panthers
We essentially dropped 7 spots and got a future 2nd after the dust settled. Not bad at all. -
"Why the hell do we need another MLB? We already have Beason!" - Me "Rashaan Gaulden won't even make it through his rookie contract" - Also me. We are all brilliant and idiotic because we are football fans.

Guys, I'm so fuging hyped for Coker. Really rooting for him because he's a small school guy, but the dude also has that DAWG in him. Dude plays fearlessly.

I'll still bang the drum for Jalen Coker as a UDFA WR. Hope we can bring him in, he'd have a legit shot of making our roster.

Panthers Select Michael Barrett, LB, Michigan Pick 240, Round 7
Ricky Spanish replied to MHS831's topic in Carolina Panthers
He's a 7th rounder, probably going to play STs and nothing more. Not flashy, but needed to fill out a roster. -

Looks like a ST guy, possibly to replace Kamu Grugier-Hill -
