If you wanted Danny Dimes here’s the chance
Ricky Spanish replied to trucpfan's topic in Carolina Panthers
He was. Also that entire 2019 QB class was just weak in general, minus Kyler. Ironically enough, Gettleman may have actually drafted the second best QB in that draft (it's a toss up between Jones and Minshew). Haskins was the only other 1st round QB and that was a whole mess in and of itself. -
Cam will be on a reality show, airing in January
Ricky Spanish replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
I actually think you're right. Watching the preview he only shows up in like one or two clips, makes me think he nopes out relatively early. -
Icky is having a great year and played better at LT than Christensen. Mayes at C over Christensen is the headscratcher to me.

https://www.si.com/nfl/panthers/news/cam-newton-feelings-hurt-panthers-excluding-him-legends-germany?utm_source=reddit.com Logically, to me at least, it really seems like because cam isn't officially retired the team is erring on the side of caution and staying away. Can you image the shitstorm it would be if the league decided flying Cam out to Germany constituted tampering and we were docked a draft pick for it?

Munich highlights and observations
Ricky Spanish replied to PanthersATL's topic in Carolina Panthers
I would absolutely LOVE the singalong stuff to hit football here in america, but only when our offense isn't on the field. I think that's the big reason it's not encouraged as much over here. -
Maybe one more win throughout the season based on the schedule, not too worried about our draft position. If we keep games close moving forward and still lose, I'm cool with it because we look like a more competitive team and still maintain a high draft pick. If we win a few more surprisingly, I'm cool with it, because it means that Canales is coaching well enough to make this sub-par roster competitive, which is good for our future if we bring in more talent. I am not getting upset about any games the rest of the season one way or the other. It's a house money year for Canales and Morgan, let's see what happens.

I hope Allers declares for the draft for this reason.

I disagree, Worst case is him completely sucking. If he is good enough to be good enough for next season and we end up with either the top pick or second pick we can ransom it to a team who wants a QB and use the draft capital to rebuild the team.

Lot of ifs in there. I doubt anyone would be against any of the things you said, but the odds of a lot of what you said happening aren't that realistic.

BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
Ricky Spanish replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
People comparing this deal to CMC, Williams, or Stewart is laughable, and I'll break the numbers down as to why: In 2020 We made CMC the highest paid RB ever. We gave him a $64 million over 4 years with $38 million guaranteed. That's $16 million on average. In 2011 we extended Williams, then in 2012 we extended Stewart. These extensions were 12 and 13 years ago: Williams - 5 years, $43 Million, $25 Million Guaranteed, Average of $8.6 Million per year Stewart - 5 years, $36 Million, $23 Million Guaranteed, Average of $7.3 Million per year Let me do the math for you: The Salary Cap in 2020 when we Signed CMC was $198.2 Million. CMC accounted for 8% of our total cap that season. The Salary Cap in 2012, when we had both Williams and Stewart under contract, was $120.6 Million. Those two combined to take up 13.1% of our total cap that season. Without the cap going up next season (and it will) Chuba is taking up 3.2% of our total cap. That's it. Not only are we paying Chuba HALF of what we were paying CMC per year, and LESS than what we paid Williams over a decade ago, the overall cap percentage shows how much less significant the contract extension is compared to those other moves. I really am not following how people are calling this contract a "big" money contract on a running back and a waste of cap space. This is a solid and reasonable starting RB contract in the modern NFL. -
The salary cap this year is 255.5 million. It will go up again next season, but let's say it doesn't. Chuba accounts for 3.2% of our overall cap each year (with that percentage decreasing each season as the cap goes up). I'm fine giving the guy producing 1/3 of all our offensive output 3% of the cap.

BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
Ricky Spanish replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's one of those moves I would normally be against, and if we were even a mid-tier team, it would look like a worse move as it doesn't really get us over the hump. But we are ass and we've been ass for years now. Chuba came in and was ass, but worked super hard to improve year over year, became a really good player and has now been rewarded for it. The locker room respects chuba, and you keep those guys around. If we had paid him top 5 money, I'd be pissed, but an 8.3 mil per year averages out to 9th in the league on a yearly basis. Scratch out Sander's name on the payroll and write in Chuba's name next to the numbers. That's essentially what we did and I don't think anyone would argue that Chuba deserves that money more than Sanders. This deal will not hamstring us for the future because it's essentially a 2 year deal when it's all said and done (perfect length for a RB extension). -
BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
Ricky Spanish replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
It's a culture move investing in a football player, not a running back (Even though, yes, he is a running back, but chuba the football player earned a payday). -
The contract is really reasonable and Chuba has earned it through hard work. it's only 9th highest RB contract and it's only 8.3 million per year. This is a culture signing more than anything. Show the other guys that working your ass off gets you paid. This helps reiterate the "dawg" mentality that Morgan wants in our players.

BREAKING:Panthers re-sign Chuba Hubbard
Ricky Spanish replied to TheSpecialJuan's topic in Carolina Panthers
We are essentially taking the money we are paying Sanders and moving it over to Chuba's bank account for the next few years. He's earned it. It's not a record breaking contract like with CMC that can hamstring us if he starts sucking. Chuba is the kind of football player you hold on to, Even if he's a running back. He's worked his ass off and earned a paycheck. He's a leader through work ethic and perseverance. It's pretty obvious we are trying to replicate what the lions have done with Monty and Gibbs. Hopefully Brooks ends up being like Gibbs. -
Do you resign Dalton for one more season?
Ricky Spanish replied to Jmac's topic in Carolina Panthers
There were two incidents of rape before he made it to the pros. Then he SA'd an Uber driver while in TB. He's Cleveland's backup Rapist. I want nothing to do with him. -

He's a rapist. Hard line. I would have stopped rooting for the team if we traded for Watson too. -

Tepper is making ALL decisions
Ricky Spanish replied to Panthers Fan 69's topic in Carolina Panthers
Is your source your fee fees? Why is it so hard to understand that this team is just absolutely poo right now due to the past 7 years of poor asset management, bad contracts, and bad drafting? Yes it was all under Tepper's watch, but I seriously doubt he is pulling the strings on a trade to send an average WR away on a contract year while two rookies showing promise are playing harder and won't cost an arm and a leg to extend immediately? Why do you make me defend Tepper? The team is just ass. That's it. That's all it is. Stop trying to pepe silvia this poo and blame Tepper for a trade for a WR who consistently quits on routes and refuses to run block.- 61 replies

Regardless of how either team ends the season, it won't be a one pick trade up due to comp picks. We really had no leverage in this and it sucks. He isn't under contract next season We weren't going to extend him He was in a position to demand more money than he's worth due to our poor overall roster structure He wasn't exactly lighting the world on fire aside from the Oakland game He's on tape giving up on numerous routes and refusing to block Letting him walk in FA would NOT have resulted in a comp pick due to us needing to fill out the roster by signing a FA in the offseason. It would offset the comp pick formula. Team is overall dogshit so there was no point in keeping him when we have young guys on the roster to try to develop in Legette and Coker. I wanted more like everyone else but I get why that's the best offer we got.

Waiting for all the talking heads clamoring for Bryce to start the rest of the season to give their riveting opinions again this week. Young is unfortunately not an NFL caliber QB.
