LaCanfora asks evaluators about Pickett...
Ricky Spanish replied to Mr. Scot's topic in Carolina Panthers
He has above average arm strength. Very quick release and it looks pretty effortless to throw (even with his baby hands) Honestly, if he were a true junior coming out of the draft, he would be regarded MUCH higher as a prospect. His age gives some people pause since it took him until he was almost 24 to look like a legit QB. The question is - is he a slow learner or did he finally break through the barrier to unlock his true potential? If you would have told me that he was a Junior, looking at his tape, I'd be ecstatic to draft him. His most recent season was a significant jump in production (much like Wilson had last year) but again, it took him until he was an old man among boys to get there. How will he look in the NFL with other grown men around him? I found an article about him last season that talks about the traits he has and how he could be a potential high draft pick in 2022 if he continues to get better: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/pitt-qb-kenny-pickett-serious-qb4-candidate-nfl-draft/ It's a copycat league and I wouldn't be surprised if rhule thinks we are getting the next Joe Burrow if we draft him. That gives me absolutely zero confidence as a prospect though. -
David Carr is the new Matt Stafford. Better than people give him credit thanks to a terrible team around him. Would shine with quality coaching.

Jequez Ezzard - Want your next Steve Smith?

Dude has some nice highlights. The one handed back shoulder catch was nasty. Also seems to be fearless going up to get the ball. I am interested to see where he goes. Currently graded as a UDFA. -
Man, I don't have the energy to hope anymore.

You do realize that McAdoo has a better career win percentage than Rhule right? As shitty as it would be, it would STILL be an upgrade. That's how bad Rhule has been.

IF we take a QB at 6, and I'm not totally against it, they will be the wrong QB to take because Rhule will be the one evaluating them.

List is incomplete, no MILF Hunter Gardner Minshew.

Like it or not, Cam hasn't been the same since his shoulder injury. Ever since then, there's been an excuse/excuses for him: 2016 - Shoulder injury 2017 - Recovering from shoulder surgery 2018 - TJ Watt Reaggravating shoulder injury 2019 - That Bitch Liz Frank (cousin of Tommy Jone) 2020 - His teammates sucked 2021 - Came in too late Legitimate excuses? Maybe. Still doesn't change the fact that he hasn't had a full season of great QB since 2015. That's 6 years of below average QB play since his MVP season... Injuries derailed his career. It sucks, I love Cam but it's been too long since he was good, and let's be real, it's not like Rhule and Co will actually bring out the best of him. Let him go elsewhere and prove he's still good, if nothing else than for his own sake. -
So I'm watching more tape on Howell and I'm seeing way more stuff I DON'T like about his game First and foremost: The ball pats and windup. Holy crap, I am not sure what his average time to throw is, but I'd wager it's one of the worst in the class thanks to the ball pat he has to do before he throws, and then his long, outfielder like windup to throw the ball. It is bad. Really bad. Generally speaking, throwing motion isn't something that can get coached out at this point (see Cam Newton and The Golden Calf of Bristol as examples). This is a problem not only for secondary guys getting a jump on him, but also D-Linemen being able to get sack fumble son him at the next level due to the eternity it takes to get rid of the ball. Secondly: He does not seem to process the field quickly. I don't know if that's the offense UNC runs, but he doesn't seem to move from his reads quickly. The more I see the less I like, especially at 6. Howell is sliding down my personal board.

Well those stats are completely disingenuous: Cam 2020 PASSING stats: 2,657 yards, 8 TDs 10 INTs across 15 games 177 yards/Game Jimmy G 2021 PASSING stats: 3810 yards, 20 TDs 12 INTs across 15 games 254 yards/game Cam is nothing more than a redzone threat these days. It is unfortunate, but it is the truth. Cam's first job as a QB is to throw the Football. He is not as good at that as he once was. Truth be told he hasn't been great at it since 2015. We are at that point in a relationship where we have broken up, gotten back together, know there is no future between us, but still love each other so much that we don't want to let go... Even though we both know it's not going to work. It's time to move on. -
Antonio Brown wants to sue the Bucs for... trying to help him?

Nah, he's always had a screw loose, everything started coming out after the hit though. -
Yeah I'm done as a fan if that happens.

I have a sneaking suspicion that we are taking a QB at 6.

Honestly, I know it's a "Down Year" for QB but I really would not be surprised to see a few of these guys pop off. Based on the limited tape I have seen, I like all of Pickett, Corral, Strong, and Howell and think they could succeed if they end up in the right situation... Meaning If none of them get drafted by us.
-
A few things though: a) I doubt he would actually waive his no trade clause for us b) We can't afford his contract c) If we somehow got him and afforded his contract, we wouldn't be able to field a competitive team with him d) He's an accused rapist who has not settled his legal disputes Nothing about trading for Watson makes sense.
