We can't even tank right, jesus. I dunno man. The whole reason I want to tank is so that we are in a better position to draft a franchise QB. We can still trade up to get one, and that seems like it is the thing we will have to do come April, I am just not a fan of getting rid of a bunch of assets in terms of draft capital to move up to do so. Tanking makes that whole process easier. So whatever, Make it to the playoffs, get knocked out in round one, then trade 3 firsts to move up to take a guy who might not make it in the NFL instead of tanking, spending one pick on that unknown lottery ticket, whatever. We can hang another losing season division winner banner.

Blasphemy. I read a thread on this very website this week that said he was, in fact, not a lockdown CB.

Bridge QBs are fine if you also put the future on your roster behind them, and not just roll with them for one season with no backup plan for future development a-la Teddy. Signing a guy like Minshew, who is a proven backup at the very least, and playing him until the rookie is ready is a legitimately decent strategy in my opinion.

It'd be cool to see Sam go through a Geno Smith like Career Renaissance in a few years after he's had time to be a backup for a bit.

At this point, I can convince myself any of the best available QBs when we draft will be our future franchise savior, I just want a homegrown dude to cheer for again.

Dude has some GREAT pocket awareness, feels pressure well and moves around to avoid defenders while keeping his eyes downfield. He even steps up in the pocket instead of bailing backwards. Dude has a canon arm too. Like flick of the wrist and ball goes 50 yards. He has all the potential in the world to be a great QB, but would we have the staff to develop him?

Math is off, he is well below the 70% threshold and there was next to no way he would break it even if he started the rest of the way.

I would assume he didn't get a first round grade, but got the evaluation he needed one more year in college to "prove it" to solidify his stock.

I was high on Corral before the draft, but the road to him becoming even a competent QB in the NFL is long and twisted. The Coach who drafted him has been fired, also likely that the OC who seemed to love him will as well, he hardly played/practiced leading up to the draft due to an ankle injury in his bowl game, then he got next to no reps in the preseason because of history's saddest QB competition, then got injured in the preseason preventing him from taking valuable reps at practice he would need to get up to NFL game speed throughout his rookie year. We are coming up on a calendar year since Corral played any relevant football, and by the time offseason activities kick off it will be roughly 18 months since he saw extended action even in a practice environment, not even counting the NFL level. Dude got worst case scenario'd in terms of the team he got drafted to.

I'd be fine with a kid like Richardson if we picked up Steichen and signed Minshew to bridge the gap until Richardson is ready. Minshew could game manage this current squad to the playoffs with competent coaching.

I can't recall a HC getting fired midseason and coming back, still in the middle of the season, to interview with a local reporter just so he can try and make himself look better.
