  1. BTW, Scot, where's the traditional Coach candidate breakdown thread? I think we pretty much have all the candidates in consideration at this point.
  2. II think it is. He still helped bring him along and coached him up. Not all of Mahomes' game is backyard football. His highlight reel plays, yes, but the rest of the time he is a sound QB making the right reads and delivering the ball to his playmakers. 95% of Mahomes' game is Great fundamental QB play from down to down, the last 5% are the ridiculous no look/left handed passes/Scramble drill bombs that makes him the best in the league.
  3. Kafka is slowly climbing up my leaderboards in terms of who I actually want. Apparently Reid was grooming him to take over OC duties once Bienemy got a HC job, but Bienemy never did, so he went and got an OC job with Daboll, and dude turned some chicken salad out of some chicken poo up in NY. I think they ended up being top 10 in DVOA offensively with no receivers, a patchwork line, and Daniel Jones at QB. That's impressive. Couple that with the fact he helped make Mahomes Mahomes, he learned under Andy Reid but has shown success without Reid involved unlike every other one of his disciples, and his adaptability to the atrocious personnel he was handed with the Giants, I am very intrigued.
  4. I have a suspicion it's going to end up being Wilks. Everyone in the Media is behind Wilks for the narrative, as are the casual fans of the team from the area. That seems to be all anyone cares about. "He's from Charlotte and was better than Rhule!" Better than Rhule is not a ringing endorsement. They see the box scores at the end of it all and see 6-6 without looking at the absolute embarrassments that were Cincy, Pitt, and TB where coaching failed to produce wins. A few years back Tepper said Mediocrity was not acceptable, but I fear that's all we'll get with Wilks.
  5. The players loved the poo out of Rivera when he was going 5-7 at the end of his tenure.
  6. Damn, I didn't even consider this and I didn't want Wilks to begin with.
  7. Dude, thanks for sharing this channel. I love this X's and O's stuff.
  8. https://theathletic.com/1520923/2020/01/08/flying-to-waco-sitting-in-an-suv-eating-meatballs-and-talking-football-how-the-panthers-got-their-man/ So Tepper had Rhule ranked higher than Hurney initially but then Hurney fell hook line and sinker and started recruiting then and there.
  9. Did Nicole Tepper draft Everett Brown in the second by trading a future first? She is already more qualified.
  10. Matt Rhule has the 9th worst Win % in NFL History (.289) so statistically speaking, he can't do much worse this time around.
  11. Hurney is gone. By all accounts he was enamored with Rhule the moment his wife served them meatballs. We no longer have him whispering dumbassery into Tepper's ear. The bad man is gone and now we have Fitty Cent leading the HC search. I don't know if that's better, but it's definitely something different. Hopefully they make the right choice this time.
  12. Every new HC candidate is a roll of the dice. You need a guy who is smart, a leader, and adaptable. I don't care who they hire as long as they check all those boxes. Unfortunately we as fans aren't in the interviews so we don't know who among the candidates checks all those boxes. Wilks to me is 100% a leader and a smart dude. I have my reservations about how adaptable he is which is why I feel like he is just Rivera 2.0.
  13. I'm actually very happy with the list of candidates we have requested so far. Would love to see Demeco Ryans or Broncos DC Ejiro Evero. Interesting guy (Born in the UK) and did an AMAZING job in Denver this year. If their offense were even competent they'd have been in the playoffs thanks to that Defense. Also has Offensive experience at the NFL level working under Harbaugh in SF:
  14. He has some of the best Mic'd up material in the NFL. Dude is absolutely hilarious and genuine. Packers fans still love him even though he's on the Lions.
  15. I have seen Ryans and Johnson have both been contacted by multiple teams not us, as has Steichen. I'm wondering if we will put in requests as well, and if so, are we waiting for them to get a little bit of interview experience before they come to us? At least I hope.
  16. Honestly that should be a priority every offseason. no reason not to at least throw crap against the wall and see what sticks in the later rounds of the draft in terms of OL
  17. Browns rallied behind Freddie Kitchens as interim HC. He sucked. Same with Doug Marrone in Buffalo. Also sucked. That's cool that they like him, doesn't mean he's the best man for the job.
  18. Levis or Richardson* *If we hire an offensive minded HC like Steichen. If we keep Wilks or hire Caldwell just let them tank us into the #1 pick next year.
  19. A follow up: Teams with the most sacks: Take away Reddick's 16 Sacks and the Eagles still lead the league. We as a team have 34 sacks. Burns accounts for 37% of our sacks. Reddick accounts for 24% of the Eagles'. Garret - 45% Judon - 30% Bosa - 43% Parsons - 25% Jones - 27% The only players who account for a higher percentage of their team's sacks are Bosa and Garret, two of the top 3 best DEs in the game right now. So Burns is more important to our pass rush than most DEs in the league.
  20. Well Brian Daboll did it with Daniel Jones so that wouldn't take much. A good coach could take current Darnold to the playoffs. Hell, Harbaugh did it with Alex Smith and Kaepernick.
  21. So Reddick is around 200 snaps fresher than Burns at this point in the season. Reddick doesn't play that much because the eagles don't need him to. If we had anyone else to spell Burns, he wouldn't have to either. What could Burns do with fresher legs on a game by game basis? I'll admit it is a hypothetical, but it is my main argument. Burns can't take plays off because we can't afford for him to take plays off. This would lead to less efficiency due to more energy exhuded throughout each game compared to his contemporaries. I remember it was one of the knocks against Short when he was drafted, that he took plays off. Turns out he was playing more snaps than most DT prospects that year, so he was getting tired. Low and behold, we get him in a solid DT rotation and he flourished. I'm saying do the same for Burns. Get another pass rusher, someone that can stay on the field some of the plays we take Burns off and vice versa. Would go a long way in improving our pass rush next year.
